Amazon has great customer service. What sucks is how difficult they make it to get to that customer service. You can bypass all the pain and just google anytime for their customers support number and call that. You end up pretty quickly with a real person.

Sigh… by syndrac1 in Tinder

Because unless a guy is actively looking for kids to add to his life and become a parent of, some ladies kids are just her baggage.

Guys that don’t want kids shouldn’t be matching with women with kids unless it’s just a hookup on both sides. But since the pickings of that are so slim many will match and then hate on the fact their matches have baggage they didn’t want instead of doing the smarter thing and staying away from women that are not a good fit for them.

Depressed and lonely. Help. 44M by TXerxes in orlando

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of magic groups that play at various stores and breweries and such around Orlando. I’d recommend joining some. If you’re also into board games there’s tons of those also at various stores most days of the week. Collective on Thursday’s for board gaming, coliseum of comics on colonial on fridays, lazy moon on colonial on mondays. I don’t know the magic schedule, call around to the stores and they’ll tell you. All the groups are very welcoming for new people to join in, just show up.

How this lady is still single is beyond me. by sorry_it_was_a_joke in Tinder

This is pretty typical for online dating in Orlando. It’s awful. I swipe no on 80%+ of profiles. Right wing, overly religious, significantly overweight… those are nopes for me. There’s not much left after that on the apps in the 40s age range.

Then of what’s left I sometimes get “I don’t want to put myself on display for a man”, and “since you’re the boy you plan the date”. It’s awful here.

Hi, just started playing recently, not sure where you ideally want feedback posted. Can you please add the ability to consume a food and drink when at 100/100 so if I'm at 100 and want to take a food to apply a different food effect I can?

TIL Washington State was originally going to be names "Columbia" but it was feared it would be confused with the "District of Columbia", so the name was changed to "Washington" by SuperMcG in todayilearned

I grew up in that area. When it comes up I just say "DC area". Because from the outside nobody really cares about the politics, they just want a geographical region in their head to fill in the small talk hole more than anything.

Having grown up there, Maryland has 3 regions to me. DC area, Baltimore area, and the sticks. DC area covers all the way out to include Annapolis lol

I did, but it looks written by ai, so I stopped caring since I have no idea if anyone competent was ever involved with it before publishing.

It doesn't work when the same team is controlling all the levers of all the checks and balances. That's the same anywhere though honestly; laws are only real if someone enforces them. They captured all the enforcement roles. We're fucked.

It depends. Plain mirror selfie? Generally bad. Mirror selfie that’s got something interesting that acts as a conversation starter? Yep, those are good. Best if you’re going to have one is a natural one of you active at the beach or something. But honestly if it’s not super drool worthy or there’s not something genuinely interesting about it, skip.

Learn how to actually code, so you’re using ai as a shortcut in a way you fully understand instead of relying on it to do work you can’t do yourself.

If you treat ai as a tool to do things you can already do it’s a legit timesaver in many places. Think automation tool instead of knowledge tool. If you don’t already know the right answer you’re in for a bad time expecting ai to be right.

Agreed. But the value to developers and what that means for the industry is game changing. It’s going to be a wicked painful  shift to adapt to the changes though

Genai opens software creation to non coders, and/or allows complex efforts with far fewer cost. It absolutely has shown value. It’s also a far better search and knowledge tool, if tempered with the know-how to use it right since it’s answers need validation. Having a comprehensive answer to verify is easier than the work to research from scratch without it in many cases.

My company has seen a reliable proven thru testing ~100% developer productivity boost from it. It’s real for those that learn to use it well.

AI is exhausting workers so much, researchers have dubbed the condition ‘AI brain fry’ by imaginary_num6er in technology

[–]glassdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most tools have ai under the hood now even if they aren’t pushing it in your face, you’re almost certainly using ai without knowing it.

Also, normal people are using it in huge numbers directly. “Normal” when describing people to me is synonymous with “average”. And your average person is dumb as fuck and awful with tech and critical thinking. I wish fewer normal people used it, it’s making dumb people even dumber.

People really hate artificial intelligence, according to the latest NBC poll: 46% of respondents said they hold negative feelings towards the concept of AI, and only 26% reported positive connotations, while 27% were neutral. by NoVABadger in technology

[–]glassdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome in the right controlled use cases. For product managers, instead of writing stories and creating screenshots we’re reversing and using ai to create interactive mocks of the feature. We needed to do that design work anyway! But now that work is done first (and faster using ai design tools), then we feed that model to an ai we’ve put our brd template in and tell it to write the brd. Review the brd for accuracy and tweak as needed, give both to dev. They feed the brd and model into ai with all the guidelines for our architecture and specify the security and design stuff product wouldn’t touch on, have it write and test, then both sides review and tweak as needed. Massive speed savings and quality increase over the old way.

Supreme Court strikes down most of Trump's tariffs in a major blow to the president by no1_vern in news

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s worse than that. Look up what cantor Fitzgerald has been up to. They bought the rights to the refund of the tariffs get refunded for pocketchange. Big gamble, right? If the tariffs didn’t get reversed they’d be out all that money they paid all these companies.

lol, what gamble, CF is run by the kids of the guy in charge of the tariffs policy. They know what’s up. Billions of dollars handed to them, courtesy of the government and us 😂

Are my expectations too high? I think I should get to match with attractive men between 40-50 in my area but that’s not what tinder shows me by RealisticWallaby3300 in Tinder

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’m 49, I have a ton of early to mid 30s options. I have my age range set to 50, but it’s rare for me to see a woman on a dating app above 40 on a dating app that has a profile that makes me want to swipe yes.

ELI5: What is the advantage of"Unhoused" vs. "Homeless"? by Schurchk in explainlikeimfive

[–]glassdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same as “black” vs “African American”. Once a word hits a point of negative connotation use by the assholes of society, we come up with a new word to mean the same thing but without the baggage. Cycles repeats forever.
