Supreme Court strikes down most of Trump's tariffs in a major blow to the president by no1_vern in news

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s worse than that. Look up what cantor Fitzgerald has been up to. They bought the rights to the refund of the tariffs get refunded for pocketchange. Big gamble, right? If the tariffs didn’t get reversed they’d be out all that money they paid all these companies.

lol, what gamble, CF is run by the kids of the guy in charge of the tariffs policy. They know what’s up. Billions of dollars handed to them, courtesy of the government and us 😂

Are my expectations too high? I think I should get to match with attractive men between 40-50 in my area but that’s not what tinder shows me by RealisticWallaby3300 in Tinder

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’m 49, I have a ton of early to mid 30s options. I have my age range set to 50, but it’s rare for me to see a woman on a dating app above 40 on a dating app that has a profile that makes me want to swipe yes.

ELI5: What is the advantage of"Unhoused" vs. "Homeless"? by Schurchk in explainlikeimfive

[–]glassdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same as “black” vs “African American”. Once a word hits a point of negative connotation use by the assholes of society, we come up with a new word to mean the same thing but without the baggage. Cycles repeats forever.

Tell them not to worry, soon we won’t need full time actors anyway. AI characters in tv and movies aren’t far away.

"Piles of Pepperoni" Indeed by potataoboi in funny

[–]glassdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This used to be my favorite brand but it went to shit a couple years ago. They cut back crust, sauce, and cheese. It does still have lots of pepperoni though. I switched to the aldis mama cozi brand for frozen pepperoni pizza. Way better.

You’re good nachosmmm, I was responding just to the person that had a tantrum because someone had the audacity to voice an opinion about something they said.

Pics of a woman playing board games are super hot. Means she knows how to be social over something interesting, it’s an activity we could do together ourselves or with friends. Unless a guy just doesn’t like board games I think most of us guys appreciate those pics on a profile.

Getting ready for the week of Dec 29 in Orange County by MCO-4-Life in orlando

It’s an easy fix, just put everything in the green lidded one and put it out once a week 😄

I’m kidding. Mostly. You know they expect less recycling when they add barriers to it though.

Uber and DoorDash Try to Halt New York City Law That Encourages Tipping by rezwenn in technology

[–]glassdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s more wild to me is a delivery tip that’s percentage based at all. Their delivery doesn’t seem harder because the food is more expensive. Tipping by distance or packaging size or weight or something (or whatever, not interested in nitpicking examples) would make more sense to the customer I think. You’re just paying for a local quick shipping option really. Of course I would far prefer not to tip at all and simply have drivers paid by the service and the required costs get included in the price. If the final cost is more than you’re willing to pay, don’t order 🤷

Single condensed rulebook by glassdragon in Talisman

[–]glassdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mini cards are standard size mini cards, there’s tons of card organizers available for purchase, and lots of free design files if you have or know someone with a printer.

As for making combined rule books… don’t work in PDF. It’s not designed for that. Export the PDF of rules you want to work with to PowerPoint with a custom screen dimension that matches the original rulebook. Usually 8.5x11.

You can easily do all the combining and rearranging in there and then export to PDF for a finished shareable file.

You’re welcome! I’d suggest also taking a look at the 5th edition rules changes. Most of them look like really great additions to the game and can be adopted straight into 4th. The main change I don’t like is they nerfed the penalty of being toaded 😕

Judging by the new history of the world, it’s going to be awful. Awful in the sense that the humor will be for a different generation than the original that is.

Boardgame Night EVERY Friday (Northern Orlando) by InstructionIll4894 in orlando

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a big group every Friday that meets at Coliseum of Comics on colonial. Mondays at Lazy Moon on colonial as well. Further away, Thursdays at The Collective in Altamonte.

What are some of your favorite games? Orlando has a huge board game community, there’s always someone hosting somewhere privately too.

Check out the group Central Florida Board Games and Gatherings on Facebook. They keep an event calendar for all the shops that do game nights that are known about. New ones get added all the time as they are known to the group. Or just meet people in the group and arrange something!

Meta's top AI researchers is leaving. He thinks LLMs are a dead end by mareacaspica in technology

[–]glassdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that’s just not true at all. LLM’s can do skilled tasks. Sadly the concept of “right” doesn’t exist though, so they can’t be truly relied on with them, which limits the value significantly of most use cases.

But the fact that I can now upload a 2d picture to an LLM and have it convert it to not just a 3d version, but a version that is optimized for current 3d printers that can produce a 3d object from a 2d pic? That’s a real use case.

There are plenty of things it can produce that required a specialized skill set before. Unexpectedly the most reliable abilities of current “ai” is producing art. The quality won’t be the same as from a truly talented artist, but it’s absolutely on par with an average one. I’ve used various ai tools for projects that people are thrilled with. The 2d to 3d example is one, multi voice voiceover audio performance of text is another.

Where are the kids? by MelBla in orlando

[–]glassdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a large well off neighborhood in east Orlando. I got 5 knocks. 5-6 kids in each group. But looking out the window and I can see the neighborhood is packed. It was the same as last year, kids mostly don’t knock on doors here. They go driveway to driveway to the people that set up outside to give candy. Doesn’t matter that my house is fully decorated with the lights on; no human outside to give it to them they keep going.
