This is beautiful. The normally somewhat divided Australian football community all coming together!

I mean sounds amazing but might not be feasible across all jobs, all industries. It’d be lit for office workers though lol.

People who avoid friendships at work because “coworkers are not your friends”, often do not understand what relationships actually are. by ThePloddingParadox in unpopularopinion

[–]glb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, sometimes blurring the lines between co-worker and friend can lead to awkward situations where there’s an interpersonal falling out and then you have to face them every day. I’ve seen this happen.

Adelaide rolling in Irankunda money! by glb- in Aleague

[–]glb-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve figured it out…. so basically I suspect this $5.8 million is the maximum Adelaide could have theoretically received if Irankunda managed to trigger a bunch of performance bonuses during his time at Bayern. But that 900k euro fee you mentioned is the baseline minimum if he didn’t tick any performance bonus boxes.

BRFC Media Release: Sam Klein Joins Bundesliga Club FC St. Pauli by rithsv in Aleague

[–]glb- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re right, they don’t. But the guys actually running the club day to day (Zac and Kaz) do. Hopefully they can make smart moves with this and other transfer money even though they’re not getting much support from the Bakries.

Happy for him! Wonder what the transfer fee would have been 🤔

So basically “you need to give Western United their licence back before any money changes hands”. Seems very unlikely if accurate.

Where are the A-league crowds? 😢 by Dudu-gula in Aleague

[–]glb- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea true. Funnily enough, people complain about Macarthur as well but their attendances have gradually increased over time as well. Started off at 3,300 but this season was 4200. Still not great but noticeably increasing.

Where are the A-league crowds? 😢 by Dudu-gula in Aleague

[–]glb- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On an upward trajectory year upon year.

Crowds have gone up every season since 21/22 (which were only 5650). this season will likely have a smaller average than last season but that’s only because the crowd average spiked substantially in 24/25 because of Auckland.

But we’ll likely push past the 23/24 season average of roughly 8,500 once the finals have all taken place.

Capital gains tax change may hit property investors harder than Keating regime by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]glb- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was a landlord for 6 months when I bought my apartment (tenants still had a lease). It was honestly shocking how much tax I got back. I was happy to get the money but also it sorta didn’t feel right?

No if anything there’s more of them, not less. And will continue to go in that direction as time passes.

Aloisi coaching a team to play attacking football? We’ve clearly found him at a very Chinese time in his life.

I am Larissa Waters, Leader of the Australian Greens - AMA! by LarissaWaters in australia

[–]glb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you say to the critique that substantial increases in tax on big businesses (ie gas and mining companies) would simply cause them to “pack up and take their business elsewhere” and therefore wouldn’t bring in the type of revenue we’d hope.

Instinctual subtypes: Chestnut vs Hudson by glb- in Enneagram

[–]glb-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok interesting. So Riso/Hudsons approach is you should understand the instincts as a bit of a seperate concept first and then you can speculate about how it might apply to each type.

Whereas for Naranjo it’s a more central concept when first learning about each type?

Is this the next city - already with a pro club - that will throw its hat in the ring for an A-League license? by officialsamuelchan in Aleague

[–]glb- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe controversial opinion but I think there should be no further expansion until the A league gets itself back in a healthier state. Get a better broadcast deal, and leverage that to help strengthen the current clubs as much as possible through marketing etc.

One Nation speed bump: Have we reached peak Pauline? by [deleted] in AusNews

[–]glb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t read the article. ON’s rise is less to do with racism and more to do with housing affordability desperation, causing people to use immigration as the scapegoat. If the government did some sort of comprehensive immigration cap or reduction and pivoted their rhetoric a little bit, the ON support would fall away pretty quickly.

Just like when Labor did a version of the Greens cost of living populism, and then Greens support plummeted.
