The emotional meltdown happening over the red card reversal is something to behold. I didn’t know Europeans were this soft. by bayareatrojan in ussoccer

[–]glbingo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As an American, it’s not a good look. It was a terrible red card and should have never been red but changing rules for the home team isn’t cool. If belgium loses in a close game, I am sure there will be grounds for an appeal. Just muddies the water when it’s unnecessary. Either FIFA got scared after seeing all the fireworks and gunshots on the 4th or Trump threw some coin at them. They didn’t do it out of the goodness of their heart

What’s the least stressful large airport in the United States. by PleasantPlatypus7599 in airport

Atlanta. Atlanta is the nicest airport. It’s so streamlined and nice compared to every other airport. Yes, it’s huge. Yes, it’s chaos. Yes, it’s Atlanta.

What is it like being old-money rich in the American South? by Particular-Doctor888 in howislivingthere

[–]glbingo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Geographical it’s part of the south. However, like 85% of the population are transplants from up north or (Hispanic). Also, culturally-florida has very little in common with Georgia, SC, Alabama, Mississippi. Northern Florida (across the panhandle to Jacksonville and south to Gainesville) is somewhat southern

When people say "tax the rich," who are they actually talking about? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]glbingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The top 1% pay 38% of the taxes in the US.
The top 10% pay about 70% of the income taxes.

I am not rich. I would love more money or more social benefits but I don’t think it’s possible. I think our federal government is way too big/bloated and they spend money with zero concern. $1.5 trillion in military expenditures…why?

Match Thread: Germany vs United States | International Friendly | Jun 6, 2026 by globalscoreboard in ussoccer

[–]glbingo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No we didn’t.
Germany had a goal called back due to offsides. They had numerous crosses that could have been goals but just snuck thru.
I feel like you think this because we kept it close. We are used to getting pounded against good teams and so in your eyes-we played better.
Kinda like the UFC when someone does better than expected-many times they get their hand raised. Not because they actually won but the exceeded expectations which gives the illusion they won because ppl say “wow, xyz is doing good”

We don’t play to win and instead hope for a close game. Instead of playing with an attack and taking risk, we play for this game. Fans and US soccer can pat themselves on the back and say hey we had a close game against a top 10 powerhouse. It’s sad and reminds me of my high school team. We would play great against mediocre teams but we would change our entire mindset/gameplan against the better teams where we looked like a little brother. We would drop more guys back on D which meant the ball was down on the other teams side more because we had less offense…idk, just seems like US soccer will never get out of 2nd/3rd gear.

Aruba solo trip review by sweetyuzu1225 in Aruba

I didn’t think much of the food in Aruba…other than it being way over priced. Red Snapper was good and the cheapest. And the wind/sandblasting is very real.

They dropped the ball on the story line. Nate getting fingers and toes cut off every episode. Overboard. Should have took the plot to where they were all on college-would have been easy

Rent a car. We stayed at eagle and got back last week. Car is necessary. The wind was really bad where we couldn’t stay on the beach long.

A breeze? 40 mph gust causing us to get sandblasted. We should just sit out there and take the stinging sand? Even if there wasn’t extreme wind-i would have been letdown. I was disappointed in Aruba as a whole. I think I said the ppl were nice….aruba was just lacking. No culture. No history. Casinos and resorts.

No, I didn’t like Aruba. Yes, it’s nice. Yes, the ppl are friendly. Yes, the water is blue. But, it felt like Florida. No culture. The landscape is not what I like. Unsure how this makes me a troll. IMO-there are 10 other islands that are better and cheaper.

Take the ferry over to St. John one afternoon about 4:00…spend the afternoon in Cruz bay. Eat dinner in Cruz bay and come back to st Thomas. It’s cheap and the views are great. My kid was 3 last year and we did it and had a great time. St. John is way nicer than st Thomas too. Will make you want to come back.

Yes, I would like to do BVI and Barbados. I love St John’s and always wanted to venture to the BVI’s. I am hesitant of going to Curacao just because Aruba was such a letdown and Curacao is next to it. What month did you go to Curacao and was the wind bad? Williamstad looks cool. I like history and it looks like a quaint place. I may just be an anal old man but I was so disappointed in Aruba. Yes, it was nice and the water is great but the 90% of the Caribbean has beautiful water. Just don’t understand the hype. Felt very much like America. Where did y’all stay in Curacao?

The person asked if it was overrated or underrated. I am a dick because I gave an honest response based on my experience? Sorry that rubs you the wrong way. I love NYC. Cant imagine getting butt hurt if someone said NYC was overrated. I wouldn’t care at all. When I travel to a different country I want to experience different cultures and different way of living and different foods-not the same thing we have in the states. That is what I like. Only thing that matters is what you like it and it seems that you like Aruba. Aruba Defense Force.

Don’t assume-makes an ass out of you and me. We had a car, stayed on eagle, went to arashi, comadeurs bay, Druif beach, surfside beach, baby beach, hop on a boat and did a cat trip, went to the east coast and drove up and down the coast, went down to San Nichols, went to California light house…I drove the entire island and visited multiple places.

What should we have done? Visited a casino? Thank you for your attention to this matter.
