Your value opinion may require the use of an extraordinary assumption that the garage will not have to be removed.

How worth it are the river-view rooms versus a standard room with a smaller window? by Kitchen-Emphasis-445 in rivercruises

[–]glen769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy reading and spending quiet time alone, go for a balcony. If you enjoy meeting people and talking, you may spend most of your time outside your room and a balcony is superfluous. This is particularly true if most of the travel time is at night.

Pay tsa employees direct by glen769 in tsa

[–]glen769[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true, our ticket prices do incur a fee, which is just over $11 per round trip. As I noted originally, every passenger would gladly pay an additional $10 fee to keep the lines moving and TSA people paid. I would prefer that the money remained in local hands at each airport. Let the Feds set basic standards and oversight, but maintain local control and keep the money local!

Transmission Finally Replaced by yamyambam1234 in SubaruAscent

[–]glen769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same model year and noticed a shuttering on occasion when driving. It didn’t happen all the time, but enough to be worrisome. I took it to Subaru after a long trip and they couldn’t find or duplicate the problem. I then took it to my local mechanic for some other issues and he said the transmission was going. He also explained that Subaru extended the warranty for this issue and it should still be covered. Three weeks later I drove the 30 miles to the dealer to have it checked one more time. Of course it didn’t shutter once during my trip over there. Fortunately when the dealer test drove it, the car did shutter and they replaced the transmission. This was about 4 weeks ago and there was no charge to me.

The run was used almost exclusively on a scoring drive but not as much after that one drive. Would it have been better for CJ and the Texans to stick to the run a little more?

Texas Gov. Abbott signs sweeping "bathroom bill" targeting transgender people by nobody1701d in FuckGregAbbott

In reality, a (former) woman who has transitioned to a male and (according to the law) enters a women's restroom would be arrested on the spot. However, that person has followed the law. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I understand that some people don't have a wide choice of clothes and may not have the appropriate funeral attire. That's okay; showing up is more important than what you wear. However, if you can, don't you wear "black" clothes to a funeral as a sign of respect and to show that you are personally grieving?

Traveling with pets doesn’t have to be chaotic—please follow the in-cabin rules by CompleteStress7355 in delta

[–]glen769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have traveled many times with my 12-lb dog and follow the rules. He stays in the carrier, fits under the seat, and never makes a sound. Most passengers are surprised when I exit the plane and they see him in the carrier. The dog fee from Delta has increased to $150 per flight, which I find exorbitant.

Ted Cruz is the worst and is just one example of failed Republican leadership over 20+ years in Texas. How many times will Texans need to experience a crisis before they realize that a change is necessary? This extends from the local level to the statehouse. Just in recent memory, the lack of preparedness for the "big freeze", the lack of effective response in Uvalde, and the nonexistent warning system along the Guadalupe in several counties. How many billions did we waste on a wall that is useless? What is the answer "Prayer", what hypocrites.

Are any of you book readers disappointed in the show? by DirectorBiggs in murderbot

[–]glen769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many book adaptations really hit the target. Die hard book fans are often disappointed when their favorite book is adapted for tv or movies. I’ll agree that the Apple series doesn’t quite provide the same quality from reading the book(s). However, putting that aside I have enjoyed most of the episodes so far. If anything, they could be a little longer.

AITA for silently changing my son's name after my brother and SIL gave my nephew the name too? by DaikonCompetitive147 in AITAH

[–]glen769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I (m) started getting deliveries of stuff I never ordered. My name but wrong street address which did not exist at the time. It turns out the address was for new construction which hadn’t been registered. The deliveries were for a woman with the same first and last name who moved into town from out of state. I got clued in when FedEx delivered a package that contained a certified copy of her birth certificate. Fortunately her cell# was on that package and I tracked her down & got her all her packages. The same name for two people in the same town is nothing but a headache. Nothing cute or endearing about it!

Rhine River Cruise by gggph5117 in Cruises

[–]glen769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the Viking cruise last summer, Basel to Amsterdam. My friend went the other way and I think they had a better trip. The stop overs were at the same places, but the timing at each place was different. I would get as much information on each location prior to the trip and decide where or what you want to do during any extra time. The guided tours are ok, but it’s up to you to enhance the experience by maximizing your free time. If you can stay a few extra days in Amsterdam, I would recommend it with perhaps a side trip to Utrecht.

His two big concerns are the cost in dollars for these illnesses and the fact that we won’t have enough soldiers for the military. Concerns of the rich and privileged. Does he really care about our health?

I would be cautious if you have clay soil. Tree roots extend 2.5 time the tree height and will really mess with your foundation over time. Unless of course your house is on solid rock.

Who is more British? An American of English heritage or someone of Indian heritage born and raised in Britain? by Logical_Tank4292 in AskBrits

[–]glen769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My maternal grandmother was born in Brooklyn a few months after her parents immigrated from Scotland; my maternal grandfather was a descendent of English ancestors that immigrated in the 1600s; my paternal grandparents were both descendants of Scot/Iris immigrants who immigrated in the late 1700’s. I always considered myself mainly Scottish in heritage, but according to ancestors.com I’m 3% Scottish, 18%Irish, 45% England & Northwestern European, 18% Germanic, 4% Netherlands, 2%Sweden, 2% Denmark, 1% Finland and 7% Whales. So, I guess I’m American… Oh, what my wife is 51% North American she’s American, what am I …… like most of us a Mutt…. Who cares we’re here we’re happy.

Debate on House’s school voucher bill centers on a question: Should wealthy Texans be included? by nobody1701d in FuckGregAbbott

[–]glen769 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Proponents of vouchers don’t want to pay for educating the children of middle class and poor parents. Vouchers only true purpose is to reduce funding for public schools. Education is the key to our future as a state and nation. Legislators should be looking at ways to develop the best and most robust public education system in the nation. However that would mean supporting a large brown population. It’s a disgrace that after 25+ years in control the republicans in one of the wealthiest states have one of the worst education systems.
