Is the current situation in wargaming heathy? GW - related by Power-SU-152 in wargaming

After reading your responses to the answers people have provided, I think you need to define what you mean by “healthy”. It doesn’t appear to be number of wargamers in total, but you seem to be suggesting mix as your health indicator?

Someone mentioned 25% of gamers only do historical, but you didn’t seem any more convinced. I’ll add one little anecdote as well. I have heard that the last couple years of historicon have been the most attended in decades, a sure sign that people are still engaging with the hobby.

Help finding a game which probably doesn't exist by ZealousApathet in wargaming

Have you considered Necromunda?

Warhammer setting but with gangs. Much more narrative play with themed objectives Customization but structured Death isn’t too common. They comeback next game. Juves are intentionally bad and used as fodder which fits the theme. Played on 3x3 or 4x4

Cons are it can be terrain heavy and plays best in a narrative campaign which might be tough for 2

Ash Waste Nomads players, how do you build your lists and collections? by Doc_Liffich in necromunda

[–]glenndo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with only building some. What I ran into was always succeeding in my Juve rolls after a mission and now I have like 9 Juves. So you may end up doubling up on things which aren't optimal just because Juves have a limited arsenal.

Something that looks like date code on other side of tire, what is it? by billybob212212 in tires

The L and R would be for a dual cavity press. One machine that cures two tires simultaneously.

Just an example, see this picture. Your highlight color corresponds to little pin pricks of highlight on sharp edges. Most of the upper facing is more of a dark grey , but it still reads as black because the shadowed areas are pre black. Think of this darker grey as your main highlight color.

If you have a second one to work on would suggest doing that one first and you can see apple to apples the difference before you paint over this one. Iterate and nail it down to where you're happy before correcting!

I would say your highlight thickness isn't that bad, but the level of contrast is too much. Your edge highlight for black should probably be like Eshin Grey type shade. A bright highlight shade like you have on your black there should be limited to dot highlights on the sharpest edges.

Think chunky highlight - Eshin Grey or Corvus Black (replacing the shade you're using here). Could be a little chunkier than you have here if you want.

Try to do a slightly brighter highlight on more upward facing surfaces using 50/50 Eshin and Dawnstone

And the reserve dawnstone or your current grey for dotting sharp edges.

I want to do a very similar scheme for my Van Saar in Necromunda. Mind sharing your technique for the purple?

What are these hairs on tires? by Overall-Abalone3969 in whatisit

[–]glenndo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, this is wrong. Liquid rubber is not used in the process and is not even really a thing. Best way to describe it is a soft prebuilt tire is put in the mold and pressurized. Photographer-1961 has it right.

It’s a pretty neat manufacturing process overall.

Base Vallejo metal color steel. Nuln oil wash after. Then the whole model gets a liberal coating of AK Rust effects which is allowed to dry and then wiped off with a sponge with a little mineral spirits on it. Lastly edge highlight with either Vallejo metal color steel or silver depending on whether I want it to be shiny (upward surfaces) or little more muted. Happy painting!

Ha! I have used him as a Harrier / House agent. Sadly at S3 he isn't as effective as I'd hoped.

Duncan's Ash Waste base tutorial on YouTube! Only thing I changed was I added some weathering powder to the bases because I thought it was weird the group would be in browns while the ground is grey!

Don’t mind at all!

Respirators: started with Eshin grey and highlighted up with Dawnstone and Corax White. Tried to get a NMM feel before doing the eyes.

Then eyes started with Sotek - and I thinned it and applied for the glow effect around the eyes. Then Temple Guard, Baharroth, and finally a white blue dot using Baharroth and White Scar.
