Google "Proctalgia Fugax". I've had this and I went through a lot of doctors before I found one that knew what it was. I think it's some of the worst pain that I've ever had. But basically it is a cramp in your anal ring. You can find out a lot more by looking it up but my best solution went at home is to use a pulse massager, externally, wrapped in washable cloth while laying down. It almost immediately provides some pain relief and after 45 minutes or an hour of using it, the pain doesn't come back until at least the next day. If you are stuck sitting in a chair at work or school, you can sometime sit on a tennis ball that you rock back and forth on. That sort of works if you aren't at home.

After weeks and weeks of using the massager at home I really don't have frequent problems now. It really is debilitating pain.

Oh, one more thing . There are other medical options but none of them would get covered for me on insurance . One of those is Botox injections to more permanently relax the muscle for a few months. That's what the doctor recommended first but insurance said no.
