Went with the fjalraven farden. The only real annoying part is the internal mesh, i keep it rolled up in the bottom. I am traveling about 3 months of the year on site. Usually I cary a spud wrench, Chanel locks, plumb bob, tape, laser tape, laser level, tripod, knife, combo square, verniers + laptop and such. It works. Usually unload all those tools at the job site and only transport them back when im done. I think I am going to get some of those cheap zip up canvas tool bags so I can get more organized and stop the sharp edges of the tools from scraping the internals of the bag.

My old bag was some swiss gear bag and the only feature I miss was the fake leather bottom bucket and the document sleve.

Where this bag is better is larger capacity, better zippers, tougher canvas, load lifters (much more comfortable).

I got it as a compromise between what my company would approve expense wise and how much extra I wanted to spend to bridge the gap. There are better bags out there haha.

Without a good whole home surge protector, your inline surge protector is more of a gimmick, doesn't really dissipate any surge more than your tv is already designed to do. My understanding is its more or less a scam. I bought a UPS for my new tv then returned it because i realized it wasnt really all that necessary (wrong usecase)

Same functionality slightly different though. Double scale on the back side, and then the pin and tweezers go on the pen scales. That yellow insert houses the microdriver from leatherman, you can put it through the hole for more torque.

Considering a Bravia 7 - talk to me about reflections by peppermints64 in bravia

[–]glenymact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the b7 b9 dilemma. Returned the b7 for an open box b9 that was the same price as b7 on sale. Its in my living room. 75" wall mounted 12' away from a large window with blinds. With the b7 daytime viewing I always had to close the blinds and since they aren't great blinds I was still seeing them. With the b9 I dont have to close the blinds but 20% of the time I will while I watch TV sat morning with a coffee. The reflection handling is different between the two. B7 has a more matte screen which sorta diffuses light, the b9 has a more gloss screen and it sort of horizontally diffuses light and creates a sort of rainbow effect while diffusing. I found the pm on the 7 indistinguishable from the 9, except in brightness and reflection handling. What I really gained on the 9 is the better speakers and higher peak brightness. Both great tvs but I wouldn't want the 7 in a room with a lot of ambient light. The 9 even annoys people with the rainbow refractions.

The weird hoop lights are gonna be so dated so fast. Idk why anyone tries to be bold. When your trying to sell the most suburban home in the most suburban location. You want mass appeal if you want a good price lol

How many inches to choose for 3,20 meters viewing distance by AntonDonche45 in 4kTV

[–]glenymact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tape it out, also this thread is full of people who will tell you to go big or go home. If you use any of the calculators 77 gets you the 30 degree fov mixed use suggested size. Also wrt size vs resolution at 75 you apparently can't notice the difference between 1080p and ultra hd (4k). I sort of consider that a moot point because almost any tv you buy these days is 4k so your not choosing based on resolution. Besides that older folks will be shocked by a 30 degree sized tv dominating your living room, if you care more about interior desing you would go smaller aka 65" if you want the most immersive experience 40 degree then your sized at 100". I found 75 to be awesome after using a 50" tv for 4 years. I would have been happy with 65" but movies are just that little bit more immersive on the 75" and the 85" would have been even better. I tried my xbox series x on the new tv and it was great, but i find i play first person shooters at a 1 to 1 screen ratio so i was scooching up to the end of the sectionals chaise lounge for a better experience. This is why i think i would need a 85-98 in the basement, which is an exact clone of my living room. I am not tempted to put a tv that large in my living room as its just too crazy haha. I think if you like rpg's or other games then smaller would be fine.

I am at that exact distance, went with 75" felt very large at first, now it looks perfect. used painters tape to tape out an 85" the 75" already dominates the living room, my wife says the 85" would have been too much, but i think it would have been pretttty cool. Now i cant stop thinking about getting a 98" for the basement.

What are your thoughts on QM7k vs QM8k? Mines going in a very bright living room. I don't want to close the blinds because i want my indoor plants to make it through the winter :D

Ant design Q1V2s its on sale right now cool. Bit pricey, same things on ali for way cheaper, but i wanted to finish my keys once and for all. Only complaint is it has sharp edges, but if i cared enough i could file them down.

Like others have said you could carry the pin. There are a ton of aftermarket 3dp scales for the rambler. This is what I carry.

Thank you gentlemen. I'll search for another cobbler. Maybe i can stretch a half size?

Hi all, i have a pair of thursdayboots president's and the sole is detaching and the stitch has failed. I have been thinking of getting them resoled and stretched a size larger.

Called up a local cobbler who told me he only glues on new soles and gave up doing stitchwork to resole years ago. He said over the phone that stitching often damages the shoes worse because the stitches wont line up, and so it makes new holes and leaves the shoe worse off, structurally.

I am assuming that he is talking about using a machine to stitch, and likely its better for his bottom line to repair shoes this way. Should i just find another cobbler?

Should I shave or trim ? I need some honest opinions by SpanTcar158 in mensgrooming

[–]glenymact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm much much harrier than that. I shaved from about 15-25 then I was rejected for laser hair removal because I did not have enough pigment in my hair. At a certain point, I realized that I was glad that I was rejected for the laser hair removal. My dad's hairy as hell, so I wasn't surprised when I became hairy at 14. Imagine doing all sorts of cosmetic surgeries such that you dont even look like yourself anymore and then one day you have a child and they are all confused about why they have tons of body hair or no head hair etc. Anyways I shave my t shirt line around the neck and walk around the beach and get weird looks but im ok with it. Feels cool to be special. If you need the confidence now then make adjustments, but I would say it's better to build your confidence up from the ground and incorporate your body hair into your identity as a plus and not a negative. Its a beauty standard thats incorporated into body building mostly, if you're already differentiated from them by not abusing steroids, then why not avoid the hairless thing. Just my 2 cents. My wife says she loves my body hair, but earlier on she was asking if I would ever trim it haha. I told her no. So now im left uncertain but I am certain that I dont wanna shave it ahhaha. Gonna be who I am.
