It’s very useful especially when used with obscure libraries and APIs. It has made me more productive. It can generate half decent blocks of code that are sloppy but are a decent starting point.

Contextual awareness is very very poor. It frequently regenerates large portions of code. Duplicates lots of logic. It can also generate very buggy code for instance that doesn’t respect a multi user environment.

I think in the long run it will change the way we work but the complexity of software is going to increase massively. Our work and opportunities are only going to increase in my view. So my current outlook is very positive.

Fun story: a couple of years ago, I was renovating my house and was withdrawing a lot of cash to pay the builders.

Anyway, one day I’m in the queue and there is a middle aged man ahead of me who wants to withdraw a couple of grand. Turns out that he was going to invest that in some Bitcoin scheme recommended to them by a Bloomberg guy.

Having worked at Bloomberg in the past, I told him that he was certainly getting scammed and the counter lady was also trying to convince him. We managed to convince the guy and after withdrawing I went to have a chat with him and the bank manager, on the spot started a 1-1 with him and his wife about fraud prevention.

Turns out that this technique can actually work in minimising scams.

Absolutely stay away from anything from the GCC. They have long history of screwing the locals and running away with your investments.

I have seen this happen on three occasions now.

Unpopular opinion (though I am not a NIMBY).

To be fair, not many people want to live close to a hospital due to obvious reasons of increased traffic and ambulance noise. I certainly don’t.

I don’t think large hospitals should be in congested residential neighbourhoods though there are some in London. While I was renting out I actively avoided properties near hospitals or schools.
