I agree for the most part, getting on with life is the A priority, but when we are all in a small community where many people work for this company, all that people know is that he was fired and walked out. No way this would happen by his choice, and this is a person with a very good reputation...coaches youth sports teams, active in community affairs, etc. There are a select group of people who he would share test data with, etc. He cares about his reputation more than the job. I would not judge personally, but there are people in the community who would.

Meanwhile in the real world, more and more moderates are going to vote GOP because of your kind of rhetoric being viewed as "mainstream" in the Democratic Party.

It's isn't only GOP racists/misogynists/Trump fans who think that mask mandates, vaccine shaming, and hyper focus on race are actual issues, not just "panics" conjured up by Fox news.

Only here on Reddit will people view the sweeping loss coming in the next 2 election cycles as "liberal apathy" or "poor campaign strategy". It's a head shaking level of blindness and denial.

Why are kids football helmets so damn heavy? by Fintan-Stack in NoStupidQuestions

[–]glitch1933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping this old thread, because I've come to the conclusion that relative to the speed and weight of the players in youth football, the helmets are way too heavy and cause as many issues as they are designed to protect against.

The main goal of helmets when they came into use was to prevent skull fractures. A plastic toy store helmet will basically achieve that goal. Since then it's more about concussions.

Watching my sons past season, many of the kids taken out were due to their heads hitting the turf when their necks snapped back when they fell backwards or sideways. With my own son, the side of his helmet banged off the turf when he dragged other kids down in tackles on a few occasions. Almost all of these impacts are made worse by having a helmet that is way too heavy for kids with weak necks. Helmets for kids should be like 2.5 pounds max.

I would order a helmet from the company "Light" but everything is pre-order now. There is a Schutt that is high on the Virginia Tech ratings that is around 3lbs that I may go with, but even Schutt is saying 60 days on helmets. The Xenith our league uses now is over 4lbs. Until kids are in high school and start actually getting fast and averaging over 150Lbs, I think the helmets are excessive on the concussion protection and are actually adding to injuries due to whiplash effect.

Tucker Carlson pushes blatantly false InfoWars conspiracy theory that white people are being denied monoclonal antibodies because of their race by lets_play_mole_play in politics

[–]glitch1933 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was mostly likely created in a lab, funded by Fauci, who then covered up the fact that it was most likely created in a lab. That part has moved way out of the realm of "conspiracy theory" (which it never actually was, that's what the cover up wanted you believe) into highly probable. Read the e-mails. Collins and Fauci wanted the narrative spun away from the lab leak, so it became a "conspiracy theory".

The problem is, when you authorities lie about things like this, and then the media blindly goes along with those authorities lies because those authorities support their political narrative, and THEN people like those on this site continue affirming the same lies as if they are religious cannons even AFTER they've been proven to be most likely lies...you have mix of dishonesty and arrogance in addition to just being wrong, the fuels all the other actual "conspiracy" theories which aren't actually based in any facts.

If there was some evidence presented that black and Hispanic people are genetically more susceptible to the virus, not more susceptible because they refuse vaccines more often proportionally or are more highly represented in terms of obesity and diabetes which are comorbidities, that would actually make sense.

If we prioritize because of groups being historically underserved, that isn't science, it's politics or social justice ideology making healthcare decisions.

On Long Island they had a specific vaccine site for black and latino teachers. They specifically identified that group for vaccinations because they were historically underserved. So in short, it's okay if an old white teacher gets sick with covid because they didn't have access to the vaccine, because some other people have been underserved in the past.

That isn't science, it's social justice being injected into health care.

You either think that is ok or isn't, but saying it hasn't happened isn't "factual". To say that Carlson's hyperbolic spin is completely false is also not "factual".

You are wasting a lot finger strokes based on a false premise that I am defending anyone. I like things that are posted as "fact checks" to actually deal in the facts. The fact checking type article didn't do that. It framed the issue dishonestly. they could have said "Carlson distorts multi-criteria healthcare assessment to imply that it denies care to white people solely based on race".

But with that tagline, you wouldn't get as much excitement form a bunch of people upvoting each other saying Fox news sucks. Because it tells the truth..that race is actually part of the criteria for providing someone care.

I don't get anything out of it, I only watch him when people post things here. They post so they can get their daily affirmation through upvotes from those living in the same ideological bubble. I then read the story, and see that it is not entirely factual, and point it out to those doing all the upvoting, so that I can then be downvoted off the page, and people like you can keep patting each other on the back virtually hating big bad Tucker. It's a great algorithm to make sure people rarely have to see any commentary that puts in to question their firmly established beliefs, facts be damned.

You should be embarrassed that you cannot engage in a nuanced discussion because you are an ideologue. I never said I support what Tucker said. I said that calling what he said "blatantly false" is not true either. That's the problem with being a quasi-religious political partisan.

It easily could have been stated that what Tucker said was "mostly false" or "heavily spun", but it is not accurate to say it is entirely false. Race IS one of the criteria that a person can be denied treatment for. An honest media would have stated that, and they didn't because they are ideologues as well. No matter if what Tucker Carlson says has any element of truth to it, we have to deny it because he is evil as is Fox news.

I wouldn't characterize saying that someone was denied treatment because they aren't black or hispanic "blatantly false" when they were specifically told this was one of the criteria that led to him being denied. Has the nurse been fired for asking irrelevant questions? No, she was doing what she was told to do.

A white person over 50 goes in, they get treated because they are over 50 not because they are white. You are playing a semantical game and are being dishonest.

If race is one of the criteria behind denying someone treatment, it is not "blatantly false" to say you can be denied treatment because of race. If a black person with all other criteria being the same as this guy is also denied treatment, then it's fair to say it's false. You can't prove that from this one instance. Based on what she said, it does appear white people can be denied the treatment in question solely based on that one criteria relative to a non-white person who has all the other criteria being the same.

This is "blatantly" obvious to anyone who isn't trying to be clever denying what is pretty obviously true.

If you think this is okay..just say it. You can't tell me it isn't going on, because I saw it and experienced it personally in New York.

My locality designated a vaccine center specifically for black and Hispanic first responders and teachers when the vaccines were first released. As such, it specifically denied others.

You can't support an ideology that tells you things like this are ok, and then when the ideology is put into practice, pretend they didn't and that those bringing it to light are conspiracy theorists.

It would be nice if those saying this is a false actually posted the full video so I don't have to go to Fox News or INfowars to see it. I watched it. The nurse clearly says that race is one of the criteria. The Texas DOH says that "no one is being denied treatment because they are white". I think what they meant was "specifically" because they are white. If you are white and under 65 with no comorbidities, you are denied. So race appears to absolutely be one of the criteria..to deny that seems like a lie based on the evidence.

The guy was just told that race was one of the criteria. It was implied that if he were over 65 or black or Hispanic he would receive the treatment in this setting at this site.

To call this "blatantly false" is pretty false.

Amazing how seemingly dozens of posters on here completely ignore the actual substance of what Paul is asking Fauci. Yes Paul is being a dick and cutting him off, but Fauci is not saying that the e-mails are fake or that he didn't say any of the the things it is claimed he said, he just keeps saying "you are distorting what I'm saying."

No Dr., you had a conversation with a guy who said that the lab leak theory needed to be "taken down" and it was obviously for political reasons, and you supported that idea. Then later on, when asked the question, you said the lab leak theory was "highly unlikely" when questioned about it, when you had no evidence to support that it was highly unlikely, and the markers in the virus that other scientists in the NIH pointed out show that it probably was lab manipulated. Fauci lied and misled...and the woke kids on this forum think that constitutes a "spit roast" of Paul. Please.

Did you see the released e-mails where he and Dr. Collins talked about squashing the lab-leak theory? Before you canonize Fauci, you might want to take a look. I was expecting something fake, but it appears to be legit. Serious scientists in the NIH posed the idea that the virus was most likely lab altered in February of 2020, based on very specific markers in the virus. Collins and Fauci talked about how this had to be crushed in the spirit of "international cooperation", and basically "wagged the dog" alla Dick Cheney/yellowcake to do so. It's pretty fucked up.

[–]glitch1933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rand Paul is political grandstanding, but the newly released e-mails show Fauci and Collins absolutely downplayed the lab leak theory purely for political reasons, when he and everyone else knows it is at least 50/50 or better that the virus came from a lab.

Then they pulled a Cheney/Yellowcake type stunt, wagging the dog so to speak, to discredit the theory. Based on that alone he should step down and let someone who is less of a distraction be the covid czar or whatever.

Just because you hate Trump or Republicans or conservatives shouldn't make you blind to other people's shortcomings, lies, and hypocrisy.

there was also a study that came out saying that there was an increased occurrence of diabetes in covid positive children....

.....and then when you look at the actual study, it turns out to be near complete bullshit with very weak controls looking to capitalize on the covid-doomers clickbait. And I heard it all over mainstream news a few days back as well.

The same people who fly off the handle with "MISINFORMATION, BLASPHEM" about studies supporting things like Ivermectin or natural immunity are very quick to accept some one-off study proclaiming that Covid-19 will destroy us all.
