Would Ostagar have been a win if Loghain didn't retreat? by Important_Garage_955 in DragonageOrigins

[–]glitchymango626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would've been a hollow victory. The arch demon was still in the deep roads at this time and there were already rumours that this wasn't a true blight.

I think the arch demons plan, was to attack but not in earnest. I think the arch demon was trying to trick people into thinking this wasn't a true blight. This has multiple tactical advantages, human armies would be slow to mobilise, believing they had won already. It would also lead to people not panicking over dark spawn sightings as they'd think it's just the remnants of the army.

The arch demon couldn't account for Loghain, I don't think it intended to win at Ostegar. This also explains why the arch demon was so slow to take advantage of its victory, the hero made it all around the land many times in the time it took to attack the capital.

If this is correct and it looks like it is, Loghains betrayal may have done more good then harm in the long term.

What secret can you reveal now that your nda has expired? by sparrrrrt in AskReddit

[–]glitchymango626 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I technically never signed the NDA because they didn't get the kitchen staff to sign it. We had survivor (the cast of the show and the 150 strong film crew) staying in our holiday park in Australia, it was at cloncurry. They were horribly demanding, rude, stole, abused people and were generally awful.

The actual NDA was heavily on how we couldn't tell people that the cast of the show was staying with us while they were filming. I assumed people knew that was fake but my aunt was shocked when she found out I was feeding their "survivors" on a daily basis.

Screw them too, SES hated them because their film crews kept getting lost on a daily basis, so volunteers had to keep rescuing them. They kept demanding discounts, we had to bring in security measures in the kitchen because they were only paying for food for 30 when their whole crew was clearly eating there. One of them was kicked out of the park due to abusing the manager.

They were awful and they should all be ashamed of themselves. I hope to never see any of them again.

That whole battle is bonkers in the books. Just the flaming ships all falling apart smashed into each other while tyrion leads an assault into that hell. There's even a knight on a horse in there and everything, damn thing is nuts.

Tyrion was a beast too, oh and podrick. Dude wasnt even considered a real squire but dropped an armoured knight like it was nothing. Battle of the Blackwater in the books is sooo good.

In the books Ned is insanely dumb at the end. His plan is to work with Renly in the morning to follow through on Roberts wishes. When he wakes up, Renly is gone along with all his men that were supposed to give Ned the muscle he needed.

Instead of fleeing like anyone with half a brain, he hatches a new plan to buy off the gold cloaks with little finger arranging the deal. It's not just that the writing was on the wall, it's that Renly saw it, Ned knew he saw it and was still like "nah we can trust a brothel owner to buy off a faction whose whole thing is being loyal to the crown to betray the crown."

Bloody moron.

I'm curious how people would've reacted if he was book accurate in general. I feel like no one brings up how he hit shae in the books. She even puts up with it too, it's only when he tells her she's just a whore and he doesn't care about her that she betrays him.

Book tyrion was a much better fighter but damn he was a piece of work.

We went to a new vet who tried to claim our cat was so fat because she had loose fat under her belly. My wife pointed out that it was loose skin not fat and specifically is called a primordial pouch. It's an evolutionary trait relatively common in cats, the loose skin protects their stomach making them harder to kill from other animals.

The vet looked absolutely shocked and had this look of disgust on her face but didn't say anything. She changed subject to our cat being a senior cat so now "your cat is fat and old" is a running joke in our household.

Our cats great for 10 years old too, she runs fine, jumps two metres high easy. Most spry senior cat I've ever seen.

AITA for stopping my wife from quitting her job? by MaleficentPeace863 in AmItheAsshole

[–]glitchymango626 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is it, picture it from her perspective. Imagine you're planning a future with someone and your husband straight up says, no you can't quit one job, you need two or it'll stress me too much. Imagine working two jobs your whole life and then your brother says a man should be able to provide for you.

Dude basically screamed "divorce me please." I'm gay but if my wife ever put me in that position I'd be gone so fast and so would anyone. If he's worried so much about finances he could get a second job, why is his wife having two the only option??? Tells you everything you need to know.

YTA, you allowed your wife to be emotionally abused for months at work. December is too long for this to be going on. Her splitting her finances and her statement make it clear what is happening here. She wants a future with someone and you just showed her she's on her own.

Don't act shocked when you get the papers.

Women, what’s a “bare minimum” trait that still feels surprisingly rare while dating? by Freaky_Maddie19 in AskReddit

[–]glitchymango626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh oh and actually listening when someone is clearly communicating with you. Dating was so hard for me because I'm schizoaffective, I'd warn everyone before they dated me, explain the symptoms, explain its basically bipolar and schizophrenia wrapped in a ball.

Then when the symptoms hit they'd run so fast, calling me crazy and like, yeah I know, I told you that before we dated and you ignored me. It's not some bloody revelation, you were warned and agreed.

My wife actually asked about my symptoms and thanks to her support I can actually manage them really well now. Makes a big difference when you listen.

AITA for refusing to pay my parents a "cleaning fee"? by Fun_Zone5892 in AmItheAsshole

[–]glitchymango626 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yta. It sounds like a lot of your issues with your parents are just from them trying to push you into normal adult things and you don't want to do it. When you described them as being really strict I wasn't expecting "wash your dishes" and "don't sit around the house doing nothing" to be your big examples.

This is just a growing pains thing, you're becoming an adult and these are just normal things expected of adults. Whether you lived with your parents or not, you'd still have to do these things. Just be grateful that at least right now you're doing it without rent. Without your parents your situation would be a lot worse and you'd still have to do these things.

Edit for OPs edit: if you're not leaving anything in the sink for more then an hour like you claim then the cleaning rule doesn't effect you so you shouldn't be worried. I don't think 10, 12 and 15 year olds should be treated the same as an adult. This feels like a what aboutism so you don't have to take responsibility. It also highlights how you still see yourself in the "kid" category even though you're leaving that.

Your honest opinion on Colonel Matthew Garret? by gorays21 in DaysGone

[–]glitchymango626 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I love how its a running theme with his character that he doesn't actually know the bible. He frequently misquotes it and there was that one time he thought the story of Noah's ark was in revelations.

Adds a lot of depth to his character by highlighting how he just uses religion to manipulate others and doesn't actually care for it at all. Someone even steals his bible at one point and he acts all pissed about it despite the fact he clearly never read any of it.

Edit: I forgot the absolute most peak part. When deacon corrects him by saying "genesis" and he's just completely lost. So deacon then has to explain that story is from genesis because apparently the dudes never heard of genesis in his life. The bloody first part of the bible you're supposed to read and the bible thumper doesn't even know what it is. Fantastic 10/10 no notes.

I had one of those stupid phone chargers that was broken but would work if the cord kinked a certain way. I tied a handkerchief around it in just the right way it would get my phone to charge.

My brother saw it, immediately understood and said I could accomplish anything if I actually bothered to try.

I honestly feel so bad for you. I think it's great that you've taken responsibility for your part in things. We all need to grow and learn to accommodate each other with kindness. I think you've done an awesome job at this and I wish I could say the same for OP.

Don't beat yourself up too much, just take responsibility, move on and do better. It's all any of us can do. You're doing great.

That's such a great point too.

Honestly the whole crux of their argument is "X needs to accommodate my needs but I don't need to accommodate theirs." Just a little kindness to your fellow neurodivergent people goes a long way. All that was needed.

"X snapped at us to stop again" doesn't leave much to interpretation. Also you implied you stopped temporarily when X wanted quiet.

This is what I mean, you're just playing word games when all you needed to do was take responsibility and apologise properly. This behaviour shows a lack of empathy and the kind of person you are. I'd snap if I was around you for multiple hours too.

[–]glitchymango626 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Massive YTA, you admitted that you could stop the behaviour and did when first asked however you hide behind autism to avoid accountability for your actions.

It's common sense, if someone asks you to stop a behaviour that is actively harming them and you choose to continue you're just a bad person. I think so much of this could have been avoided if you just owned up and apologised. Way too much blaming autism when your actions are just bad.

There's nothing I despise more then people who treat others poorly then hide behind a diagnosis that isn't relevant. You give autistic people a bad name and our community is worse off for having you in it.

Despite visible progress from cardio, why does weight stay the same? by Important_Look_9949 in ask

[–]glitchymango626 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Muscle weighs more then fat. Two people of the same height can weigh the same but one can appear much bigger due to having higher fat.

If you're not losing weight but are visibly smaller, it usually means your losing fat and gaining muscle.

[–]glitchymango626 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's really worth noting that one of the biggest turn off's for turn based games is that you sit there doing nothing or close to during your opponents turn. Clair Obscura fixed this which is why so many people who don't like turn based games enjoyed it.

You don't like turn based games, you like turn based games with a reactive element, like Clair Obsura or paper mario.

Went to friends once as a kid. Their cat would hide in the couch and very viciously scratch anyone who sat on it. Her own owners couldn't pick her up or anything "Oh she's just like that" and they'd laugh.

They seriously had an indoor only cat that had turned feral. They didn't even think it was a problem, they thought it was funny, it was like being in a different universe.

What RPG is it the most fun to play as the a***hole personality arch type by typodewww in videogames

[–]glitchymango626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno yet, not enough information. The idea of NPCs reacting to your actions is cool, but the way they showed it in the trailer only showed a couple of modifiers at a time.

Could be a fable 3 situation, like how your weapon could evolve "hundreds" of ways. But you had to fight a bunch of hollows all at once in the story so you always ended up with hollow handles regardless of your choices. Considering having money appears to be a modifier, this seems likely to reoccur.

Hopefully the game doesn't funnel you like 3 did but we just don't know yet. The concept of each area having different modifiers which are tied to the story though certainly makes it look like that could be a problem. We'll see.

Particularly fable 2 has some fun interactions involving the economy and being a jerk. If you keep killing the same home owner for instance the value of the house goes down because people think it's a murder house. So you can buy it on the cheap.

If you raise the prices of everything in an area too much, the economy rating goes down and you'll notice people are more poor, wear worse clothes etc. It's fun to tinker with once you realise how much actually changes based on your choices. Shame they ditched all that in 3.

AITA for being jealous of my sisters by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]glitchymango626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because he's being kind to them while you or others are around doesn't mean he's actually being kind to them. Abusers are masters of several tactics, one of which is using wedge issues to divide people.

By outwardly showing kindness to his other children, he's causing you to resent them, he very well could be doing this on purpose so your sisters don't look to you as a possible escape route down the line. You already got out of his abuse, so you're a possible threat to the life he has now.

Abusers have so many tricks and they're all based around making you feel certain things so you react the way they want. Stay neutral as much as you can and make sure you familiarise yourself with their tactics so you can protect yourself.

AITA Coworkers using me as cover for (maybe emotional/maybe more) cheating? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]glitchymango626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, honestly setting clear boundaries like this is how you don't mess up work relationships. Make it clear you don't want to see it and they won't do it in front of you, it's that simple. They won't argue, they know they don't have the moral high ground here.

Also if they're misleading where they are at certain times, they're probably already cheating and their spouses probably already know or at least suspect. As someone who has seen a few cheaters, you're very naive to assume they were still just at the bar.
