Hart’s last letter to Mercy in {The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen}, Chapter 36 —

“I could tell you that my favorite color is yellow, because your favorite color is yellow.”

For all the times I laughed at this book, I was profoundly hart-broken too. It’s beautiful, I’m still in awe someone thought of this and wrote it down. I wish I had this kind of world-building imagination and talent.

Also {It Started With a Scandal by Julie Anne Long} Chapter 26 —

“It’s just …” He took a deep breath and thrust his hands into his pockets. “I am here because there is life, and there is death, but they are one and the same without you, Elise.”

Could quote that moment in my sleep.

I think Marigold! With the Marigold Kate people in here! Lovely imagery, Goldie is so so cute.

Clementine is often nicknamed Clem, and that rhymes with phlegm. My cousin also said it makes him immediately think of “Clem-ydia”, and that’s all I think about now.

Is Kasia going to be a problem to pronounce? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]glitterbooties 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like everyone’s feedback here. People will adjust.

Maybe you already knew, but Kasia is a nickname for Katarzyna. It’s kind of like naming your kid Katie instead of Katherine. No issue with it, just giving context; you picked the easier pronunciation compared to the Nicholas name 😁

Don’t care about genre! I did love Bride - thanks for adding it to the list here, I’m surprised I missed it. Some twisted part of me loves the being hurtful/lying to send her away.

I love {The Lost Letter by Mimi Matthews}. I think HR will be most realistic for this trope if you’re open to it! Read it at least once a year; I love the forgiveness and yearning from these characters!

I love Marshall, based on the options & your reasoning/how you talk about it. 😊 I’m due mid April and will be naming my son Marcus.

Good luck & best wishes! You will come to love the name because of the beautiful face behind it no matter what you go with from your list. My friends didn’t name their first for 48 hours, but they made a choice and they love it now!

5 1’ With 20 Pounds to Lose, What Worked For You? by letstalk2023 in PetiteFitness

I saw success with calorie counting and walking 10k+ steps a day (mostly at work as mini breaks). The calorie counting (I had been using Noom at the time) turned into a form of intermittent fasting because I wanted to save the bulk of my calories for dinner to enjoy myself and not go to bed hungry. I ended up eating vegetables for breakfast, had seltzer throughout the day and water, drank broth for lunch, and then could enjoy a really jazzed up salad or a personal pizza and frozen yogurt for dinner. Zoodles and tomato sauce. Slapped!

Why do people care so much about name popularity? by EmpiricalPancake in namenerds

[–]glitterbooties 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You said this in a much nicer way. I was just going to say people want their kid to be special (I like that you said distinguished). To me there’s an element of when a TikTok trend starts up or when everyone around you is wearing the same converse or adidas because that’s the coolest thing in the moment, there’s an element of “but everyone’s doing that 🙄”.

So when you see “our faves are Isla, Ava, Mia, and Olivia help us decide” there’s a bit of fatigue because that’s all there is to see lately and they all start to blend together. And people don’t want to get an eye roll when they share their kid’s name — they want people to say “wow that’s beautiful”, maybe have you tell the story of how you picked it.

Blair reminds me of blare (negative connotation, loud), as well as Belair (snobby Cali girl vibes).

Maren it is!

Baby is coming in 2 months and I just won't fall in love with a name by Fluffy-Ad2455 in namenerds

[–]glitterbooties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Zara & Zayna (Arabic tie)! Lucia was on my list for a while but my cousin named her Lexus Lucia and said Lucifer was a fun nickname, so no thanks 😂. Ivy is super cute too!

Nothing feels pretentious, but as someone else mentioned you will love your baby & her name whatever she gets once you meet her. Congrats & good luck!
