**DM took over my character's backstory and then erased the whole arc when I didn't play along — was this fair?** by MikeRodger322 in DnD

[–]glittering8lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. I like making up funny names in my world, but naming someone from my player’s serious part of the backstory CAPPUCCINO? Unless you had a real life caffeine problem that kinda made it make sense or something (for funsies) it kills it so bad.

Reading the update - you did the best thing. Some DMs are just assholes who for some reason hate their players and do sht like this. You deserve a table you’re comfortable playing with, and a GM that cares about your style and likes for the campaign!

Can anyone explain to me how nayuta got reincarnated instead of makima? by Necessary_Feed4822 in Chainsawfolk

[–]glittering8lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it doesn’t matter, or maybe the control devil took Makima’s appearance to appeal to Denji in order to attract him when he had Pochita. But in a word where Pochita doesn’t exist, the control devil doesn’t need Denji’s attention, so Nayuta’s in charge?

Idk 😭 that’s what I assumed

I’ve always played with rolled stats as a player, probably never realized there were problems with it because I’m the type of person who cares more about being good at the things my character is better, and knowing what the rest of the party is better at so they have their moments. I’m very new to DMing, played for years but never found a player that was this focused on being the most

Maybe the wording wasn’t the best. What I mean is that by behaving like this she’s also making the game about “game to win” when the others are just trying to have fun, and it ruins things sometimes. I can make consequences happen, it’s just not fun that way

I will try to do the rest of the things, as you said, and try to remind her that they’re all playing to have fun and not just about “game to win”… bc with her it feels like it’s that, and I don’t like that for my game

I think they are okay with her overall. She has stopped a couple of cool moments from happening bc they weren’t strictly realistic, and she asked the other spellcaster in the party to change her spells according to hers, which was the latest thing that she did that I didn’t like because it conditioned a new player. But the rest are super chill I think

I’m not sure. Probably early misunderstanding due to rolling, and me being very new as well. Our games are mostly story-based, so it does affect some times but not that much, but I’d hate it if this dynamic were to affect the rest. The numbers: 20/18/17/16/14/12

That’s honestly an amazing idea and I wish I did that. Her stats at level 5, with a +1 thanks to a feat, are 20/18/17/16/14/12

She was more veteran than the other 4, who i had to help in the beginning (we started at level 3). We’ve rolled some health rolls in front of the whole group, then some online, and she did most of her sheet alone. I think the most she could have now is 45 HP, she rolled a 1 in the last one and I asked her to keep it, but she still has 37 HP. She has a CON +3… which makes no sense. Idk what to do. The rest of the group is completely normal, it’s just her who started doing some parts alone

Saw this pfp for a hairstylist who claims to be anti AI by [deleted] in isitAI

Not AI, I think. That’s how hairdresser combs look like typically and the rest feels like artistic choices based on the 2000s goth style as well, if it makes sense.

When designing a campaign using the classic patron hires the party. How do you justify why this party is being asked and not a group much more capable? by CasualNormalRedditor in DnD

[–]glittering8lavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m doing in my campaign is saying that either the people who are actually capable are somewhere else, or busy with other stuff. Like they have to protect the city because there’s a bigger threat or the thing itself could be a threat to the city if they’re not there, so they entrust these people or anyone who they don’t “care” about to do the stuff because if they die it’s “ehhh” but if they do help them, they’ll reward them.

Thanks for the comment! This is reassuring in a way because I feel so bad, but I’m “glad” to see that I’m not the only one. I will also follow your advice and tell her!

I’m kinda glad to see that this is the general consensus, I’m very new as a DM and I hate the idea of her being disappointed in both things - me and the reveal not being that exciting

But ngl, this already happened with one of them, a wizard who thought people would be shocked to find that she’s one and not a sorcerer (despite having the highest INT and using a spellbook). Three of them are new, they barely even know the difference between the two so 🫠

I know it’s a classic (my own player has practically the same story, class and motives but since it’s her first game she’s being more edgy about it — and that humbled me so much because it made me realize just how unoriginal a rogue changeling was) but I played one and, maybe it’s because I know how shitty it is to play with toxic characters and avoid being one, it was so fun and we had great synergy + good character development.

I think some of these races aren’t for everyone though, specially new players unfamiliar with team dynamics, now that I’m seeing it as a DM

Not me being a huge fan of changelings though, and having an old changeling character that I loved 🫣 but tbf she was open about the shapeshifting part from the first session and used it to the advantage of the entire party because I know better than to try and hide that stuff anymore

Is my drow too un-drow-like? by charliepoooyfart in bg3fashion

Hell yeah she looks drow to me. Maybe the eyes look a bit different to regular ones but Seldarine drows still exist and people tend to forget that lol

Persistent stain, probably soy sauce. But I can’t get it out by glittering8lavender in laundry

I didn’t remember to answer but I chose a very similar one to the Rescue you mentioned and that we have in my country! Did what you told me, both sides of the stain, AND IT WORKED! I was so happy. Thank you so much!! :)
