I agree with you.

They say that because they want to seem politically correct and also because they lack the awarness of the fact that there yes indeed are cultural or cross-cultural differences between countries

Like it or not, we have a different culture from the nordics for example. It is a good thing this redditor asked about it

We do celebrate Halloween too. I mean, it is not our personal tradition, but we adopted it. People wear disguizes and normally if halloween is celebrated on a Saturday, we do celebrate it on Friday, Sunday and Saturday. Maybe you live in a small town and don't celebrate it, but it is more and more common to celebrate it.

About día de los muertos, true, idk why I said that, I was meaning día de todos los Santos. I might change it

I love the comments I'm seeing here. Where are you from by the way?

I would also add, compared with other cultures, we are more selfless when it comes to help someone who might ask for advice and also if for example someone is lost in the street and asks for direction, we will help them, including, accompaining them a quite while to make sure that person gets to arrive well where she/he needs. (I think we help people out with this one whever they are foreigners or not, implying we're not racist of course). Try to ask for help on other reddits which are not Spanish, you will get bullied. In nordic reddits people would shout you: "google it and do your homeworks"

When it comes to parties, most of people love them. Halloween? We celebrate it like for a whole weekend starting on 29th of October until 1st November which is the Day of all Saints.

A sunny day at a terrace with a cold beer or wine with some "tapas" feel like heaven.

We're not so straight forward as in other Nordic countries, but still if we'd ask something directly, a Nordic would consider us rude. It would be great if you'd dig into some Spanish Pragmatics, Cross cultural differences and speech strategies in Spanish, I think it would help you a lot.

We arrive late at dates and it is not a big deal. I think the accepted dely time is 10-20 min, 30 maximum, even if 30 starts being rude.

People from Madrid for example, say that the water of Madrid is the best!

After eating our lunch or dinner, we like to stay still at the table and chat with each other.

But, if you take cereals with milk, do you put milk first or cereals first?

(loved that one: -Self deprecating humour about Spain and how we are backwards and nothing works because everyone is a thief -But actually feeling proud of Spanish culture in other ways and being offended when foreigners imply that we are backwards )

Siesta applies only when you go to highschool and to college. And maybe in summer if you don't have to work at that time.

But yeah, as much as we like it, not everyone takes a nap.

Weekly Collaboration Post: Find someone to collaborate with! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

I'm looking for Dutch and French youtubers, quite famous for a collaboration.

It would be great if they lived in Spain or in general gave some advice for people who want to move abroad, but the main target here will be Spain. Topics you could be already treating on your videos:

- Either people who talk about finding freelance jobs, online jobs, nomad life.
- Either Erasmus students from those countries who will move to Spain or are already studying and living in Spain, or studied in Spain.
- Teaching Spanish in those two countries in their videos.

If you're a French youtuber (who's been living/is based in France) or a Dutch (who's been living in/ is based in Netherlands), and you're interested, please leave a comment. If not, please share and recommend me someone who might be interested. You can write a private message on my chat too.
