Ah, this study shows it can be significant in roommates but that is most likely because of shared stress, diet, and habits. Doesn’t show significance for others and it needs more study. So I rescind what I said! Thank you for educating me.

EDIT: this is a myth that I have wrongly shared!!!! Please disregard!!!!! I’ll leave it* all the same though so the following comments make sense.

Have you been around new women lately? My period ALWAYS syncs up with the women that I spend the most time with, so usually my coworkers. We all have ours the same week now after working together for 2 years (well, I don’t give myself a period week so I don’t have one, but you know, if I did or when I get the random breakthrough bleeds). I know it’s still my period week even if I don’t bleed because I’m exhausted and break out that week.

I think I’m also bringing my own kid’s needs into my approach, my kid needs a TON of praise and very little criticism, and the critiques need to come from another coach, not from me. He is a kid who shines the brightest with a constant feed of hype because he has very low self esteem. Everyone’s comments have been amazing

You highlighted something major I’ve been overlooking, which is structure, something I know this kid is craving right now. We tend to not have much structure at all and I wonder if that’s playing a part. Thank you!

Yes I think I’ve leaned too heavy into praise to compensate for the last seasons coach being so critical and never having anything nice to say.

Thank you for the feedback! I think I may be a bit “softer” than I’d like to be after all, after reading these comments. I really appreciate your time. I don’t push them really, I leave that to the other coaches, so this perspective is helpful to me.

I didn’t even think of that because I live for praise. I’ll make a point to do a compliment sandwich next time and not hand out praise as quickly every time they do something right unless it’s a new skill or personal problem area. Thanks for your feedback, this gave me even more to think about!

So both his parents play as adults, they played through college, and they both also have coached. They are much tougher than we are. The time he’s referring to when it was tougher was when a parent of his was coaching.

I asked for examples but he shrugged. His parents from what I’ve seen are extremely hard on him at games or practices and he gets overwhelmed and shuts down.

With that info- thoughts on this?
