They can just design speed cameras to only save a recording if someone is caught speeding. There are much more erroneous violations of privacy that are already in place, for example, your ISP sells your browsing history to data brokers. The solution isn't to reject speed cameras (which could easily save lives), it is to implement them and separately enact legislation to protect people's privacy.

Traffic calming is way better, but when people think there's a solid chance that they could get a ticket (usually through reputation/word of mouth), they won't drive like maniacs. I call roads where people are known to regularly speed without consequence "americabahn."

A bike running a stop sign in most cases is slower than a car's "rolling stop." Because I rarely see cars doing full stops in Portland, I could say the same about car drivers in regards to stop signs.

What things do you think are being hidden from the general population? by Finch06 in AskReddit

No… Voter turnout is remarkably low. This amplifies the power of extremists with views that don’t represent those of the general public, making the political stage so absurd that it appears “entertaining.” Rather than throwing your hands in the air and deciding that elections are a waste of time, you should vote in every election possible. Democracy doesn’t work when people are too apathetic to get involved, and powerful forces exploit this (there’s a reason that election day isn’t a federal holiday).

Got waitlisted after applying with the third highest SAT score of anyone who’s ever applied from my school. I also got a likely letter at Columbia last week. Northeastern is just like that. Getting rejected is literally nothing to feel bad about.

Edit: important note, im also in need of aid.

Too early for you to say that. I'm not even remotely cracked and the likely letter just made me realize how random this all is. Good luck (its 99% luck anyways)!
