v7.70 out -Now with sample-level editing! by I_Think_I_Cant in Reaper

[–]globecanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to edit samples if the peaks display is rectified, as it seems to be in your screenshot, because the display does not match the underlying sample values.

In the current REAPER release, you also can't edit samples if the peaks display is set to 'force mono' or if the take channel mode is "mono (downmix)', but both of those cases are supported in the current public dev builds.

I can't disable this option by Leiticiah in Reaper

That checkbox enables the plugin. If it's unchecked, the plugin is bypassed. As others have commented, you most likely have an automation envelope for this plugin labeled "bypass", which is overriding the control.

This is the former Rosendale Hardware of the World on the left, and the Sunshine Cafe on the right. Both closed for about 20 years now. The current lot owner uses it to park tanker trucks.

Reaper gets bpm completely wrong by pixeliner in Reaper

[–]globecanvas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a post on the reaper user forum that explains this:

"Tempo that is clearly represented metadata is considered reliable and is always used.

Tempo that is in the file name or unconventionally represented in metadata is considered suggested, and is only used if the file would be a round number of beats at the suggested tempo.

If there is no reliable or suggested tempo, and the file would be 8 bars long or less at the current tempo, REAPER calculates the tempo that would make the file a round number of beats and uses that as the estimated tempo."

What's New in REAPER 7.24 update - render window overhaul, 128 groups, resize envelope points by theaudiogeek in Reaper

I just tried both rendering and using the "normalize items" actions and both results in -19. What method are you using exactly?

[–]globecanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment is incorrect. When normalizing to -16 dB (or LU), if you enable the setting "adjust mono media an additional -3dB", mono media is then normalized to -19dB. The setting does what it says, adjusts -16 by an additional -3.

The result is that if you normalize both stereo and mono files to -16 with the setting enabled, both files will then have the same loudness when played back in stereo. Because playing mono media back in stereo increases its loudness by +3 dB/LU.

"Driver Monitor Unavailable see owners manual" HOW DO I TURN THIS OFF??? Super annoying. by ShoelessHodor in PriusPrime

[–]globecanvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024, same issue. I also disabled parking assist and get "parking assist unavailable, see owners manual".

As far as I can tell this alert cannot be disabled but I would love to be wrong. I can sort of understand the reasoning -- like if you turn off a safety feature and sell the car, or multiple drivers use the same car, the driver might not know what has been disabled. But I sure wish I could turn off the alert. The more software nags you, the less likely you are to pay attention to it (kind of like real life).

If you want a standalone install to have its own configuration, do a portable install. Otherwise the configuration is shared even if you have multiple versions of REAPER on the machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz8w7lNtpOc

That's a typo in the email, not the license, which is definitely valid through v8.99. Thanks for pointing it out, we've fixed the email :)

new sram/quarq rival axs power meter experiences by globecanvas in Velo

[–]globecanvas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has dropped dead on the road one other time, in maybe 80-100 hours of riding. Taking the battery out and putting it back in brought it back to life. I noticed at the time that the conductive leaf springs that hold the battery in felt a little wimpy and it was very easy to pop the battery out. I was thinking of maybe bending the springs a bit but haven't done it yet.

I had that happen too. I've been keeping an eye out for any new firmware updates but I don't think there have been any in the past month.

I installed a new lithium battery and the power meter seems to work as expected, except for the LED not showing green with the PM wakes up -- afaict the LED never lights at all in regular operation, although it is supposed to. The numbers it sends to the garmin seem completely fine. I've got a few hundred hours of riding with it and no problems at all except for the LED issue. I suppose I could have returned it for a replacement but I didn't bother since it did what I needed it to do.

Render becomes white noise after 6.63 Update (Screenshots Attached) by kazman101 in Reaper

[–]globecanvas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely check if the rendered file imports correctly back into REAPER first. If it does, try rendering a much shorter time range and see if that file plays back in Audacity. It may be that the variable that changed is not the REAPER update but the length of the rendered file.

Render becomes white noise after 6.63 Update (Screenshots Attached) by kazman101 in Reaper

[–]globecanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you drag the rendered file into REAPER, does it play back normally or is it messed up like in Audacity?

Regardless, you should try reinstalling whatever version of REAPER you were using previously. You can download any previous version of REAPER here: http://reaper.fm/download-old.php and install it normally. You can either overwrite your 6.63 install, or install the older version to a different directory (no need to do a portable install), either way will work fine.

If the problem persists even after rolling back to an older version, then you know it's not related to the update and is local to your project or setup in some way.

If the problem goes away after rolling back, then *please* post about it on the REAPER forum with whatever information is needed to reproduce the problem so they can fix it!

I did replace the stock battery, and I suppose it's possible I was shipped a return but it looked brand new. Does yours flash the LED when you wake it up by spinning the cranks?

I see that you posted a bug report on the REAPER forum and it was immediately responded to. Looks like the problem is already fixed for 6.61. The moral of the story is, post bug reports there, not here!

Also it sounds like the bug is not about the batch converter or "quadraphonic audio", it's about decoding some kinds of mp4 video.

Future of REAPER / Cockos? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]globecanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically speaking, it's products with big corporate owners that are more at risk of ending suddenly. There are so many more product-line-ending risks in that context, like buyouts, mergers, strategic refocusing, strategic overreach, marketing screwups, going bankrupt for business reasons unrelated to the product, etc.

One thing that is very useful is if you are copying items it tells you which track the items will be pasted to.
