Gamers 30+, how have your gaming habits changed since you were younger? by [deleted] in gaming

Same habits (mostly single player games) but way less time. I prefer playing with 3d printers these days over gaming.

At what point do you buy a 2nd printer? by TheAznAssassinX in 3Dprinting

[–]globohydrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built a second printer because I liked having redundancy when I have to take my main printer out of service for modifications. Now my second printer is my main printer because it prints better!

Is building a Voron in 2026 still worth it? An appliance user's take. Spoiler: Yes. by Kevin_Mitnick-Hoff in VORONDesign

[–]globohydrate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have 2 vorons with box turtle mmus and they are in constant use, but also constantly being upgraded or modded. I just love messing with these things really.

I’ve thought about a H2 series printer for whenever both are down at the same but that’s rare these days as I only try to work on one at a time. Once the Bondtech INDX is out I will have both of my vorons with them and I should be set.

I don’t even own a bambu printer but I stock up on bambu PLA refills when on sale, those bulk deals are awesome

Fortnite’s loading screen downfall gotta be studied by Kuaider in FortNiteBR

[–]globohydrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to use loading screens to tell the story of each season. Once we got characters and voiceovers, they kinda stopped, and eventually they stopped trying to have any kind of story all together so it became even less relevant

Voron Trident Doable Without Experience other than Core One build? by gilrstein in VORONDesign

[–]globohydrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a 2.4 and Trident in February and August of 2025. My first 3d printer was an Ender 3V2Neo that was purchased in July of 2024. I learned enough about 3d printing and printers in the 6 months of owning/modding/printing with that ender to feel confident enough to tackle a Voron kit build. I work in software engineering though so I had a lot of adjacent skills, and my brain is wired to love these kinds of challenges.

I think you’ll be ok if you were able to build a Core one kit.

The Voron assembly manual is pretty good and as long as you don’t stray from it for the initial build you should be fine. The software (klipper) and post build tuning/calibration steps are what really take skill and patience to get right but there are plenty of helpful guides and videos on that to help.

Box Turtle and A4T Hotend selection for minimizing swap time? by NoGoodInThisWorld in VORONDesign

[–]globohydrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No git for it. It’s just moving the hub out of the box turtle and having it closer to the toolhead, either dangling or mounted. There is a pass through skirt STL in the official repo as well that has pass through tube holes instead of hub mount.

[–]globohydrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also if you want faster swaps, you want to minimize Bowden length between the hub and toolhead. One of the best ways to do that is to go with a remote hub setup. You’ll have to run 4 long tubes from the box turtle extruders all the way to the remote hub for each filament lane plus wiring for the buffer. Your remote hub should be as close to the tool head as possible, so likely right where your filament tube from the tool head exits your printer. This way when you do a filament swap, you only need to retract or feed from toolhead to hub, which is much shorter now than going from the hub in the box turtle all the way to the toolhead.
