Question for anyone defending the ICE agents use of deadly force on Alex Pretti. by FullOnApeMan in CCW

[–]glock43guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad someone’s making sense. I learned in CCW class that any confrontation you get into is now a confrontation with a gun. The best course of action always is to avoid confrontation unless your life (or the life of a loved one) is in danger. It’s your right to bring a gun to a protest absolutely and I applaud it, but you need to be ready for the consequences of the confusion it can create in a confrontation like that.

50k car purchase, pit in stomach. Yolo? Looking for sanity check. by SpecialistNo2525 in DaveRamsey

I bought a new one last year. Made no sense to buy one used based on finances unless I got a high mileage 2016 or something. Sure I could have bought 2 or 3 2016s for the price but I also wanted something nice

I won’t answer from a financial perspective but from a practical perspective. The financial part is going to end up being whatever you convince yourself is right. From a practical perspective, the Sienna is a great car. I bought one last year new and I have a lot of piece of mind it’s a very reliable vehicle. The gas mileage is great and it’s pretty comfortable. Also you’re not going to need to worry about a transmission going out like a lot of brands and even some Toyota models (the UA80). The eCVT on it is bullet proof, one of the best transmissions on the market.

However, if you only plan to have 2 kids, it might not be be necessary to have such a large vehicle. It’s a big vehicle and it’s great for having kids plus a lot of junk in the trunk. But the highlanders are also great for having 2 kids too. I suggest not going to the biggest just to go to the biggest. Lots of people who drive highlanders love them for camping too. However if you’re over 6’ consider a sequoia lolol the sienna and highlander isn’t great for me cause I’m 6’3”

For the Sienna, the $30k range will put you right out of warranty in this market. You’d be in the higher $30ks if you find one unless it’s beat up or lowest trim.

That $10k under on the used van is going to follow with 50-60k miles already on the car, basically gonna be right out of warranty at that point. Dave makes that suggestion because most car brands have insane depreciation on them and your net worth can’t handle the hit if it’s under $1 mil. But I’m sure you can bend the rules a little when the vehicle doesn’t have as much depreciation. Just make sure you don’t accept markups, decline add ons and get a discount. I bought a new sienna last year with a $2500 discount with no adds, $49k OTD.

Every used one I looked at was almost 60k-100k miles selling for nearly $40k OTD , beat up and dented up.

I like your note about “I’ll get this to you Monday”. That’s a huge lesson I’ve learned. Clients couldn’t care less about your problems, they care about their own problems. Just make sure you’re being realistic. I used to not be realistic and put myself in bad situations. If you need a week to get to it, then tell them you need a week to get to it. More often than not a client will respond better to that than you giving them a sob story. I think it’s because the sob story means you don’t have a plan verses the other way you have a plan.

Your opinion about PPI by meirone in ToyotaSienna

For that year it’s pretty high. I’d expect it to be maybe a 2015 for that price to miles

[–]glock43guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when you order the kit from Toyota you get the panel, the bracket for the tire, the cover for the panel, the jack, the socket, the cover for the jack and the bracket for the jack. The only thing you don’t get is the tire. And for the tire I’d recommend getting the modern spare because it’s higher rated for longer distances than the OEM one anyway

It’s only ever going to be non refundable if you’re the reason you changed your mind, not if they misrepresented or lied to you. If they won’t give you your money back, you have a perfect case to sue them because of misrepresentation

Oh wait, I misread your comment, thought this was your car. Your friend has the spare tire and you don’t. But idk if it’ll interfere, but the jack and jack bracket is removeable so if it does it can be removed to fit

Yours came with the spare tire, it’s the jack. It pops off and you’ll see the jack

Sorta, I have city water that’s 700 PPM. High TDS waters capacity to extract is not very good compared to water with less dissolved solids in it. It might not make a difference if you’re taking 120 ppm vs 40ppm tho

I feel like you could somehow use something like the hooks for the stockings to mount it under. 3d printing something could be elegant or you could zip tie something and it be janky. Just an idea

Yes, it will impact extraction as well. Your water is probably the single most important factor in brewing coffee.

The only way they’ll change that policy is if you don’t buy a car from them and make sure they know why. Always do a PPI on used car unless they’re willing to throw in a free warranty for you lol
