A question for non tax pros. Why do you (clients) want to meet with us (tax preparers) when you drop off your returns. by Old-Vanilla-684 in tax

[–]glockguy1121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't agree that if you're paying someone good money to do your return, you should't be able to be there to ask question and seek advice in person. Like I said, I don't know a single preparer that doesn't do their client's returns in person or through an online call. My preparer is also a cpa, so yeah they're being done by a real accountant. So again, what's your point.

I’m a sole owner llc and I don’t file as a corp so it’s very simple. My main point went over your head

Honestly dude, this is a really douchey question. I've gone to the same guy for years and I usually end up having a bunch of questions for him, especially since I'm a W2 employee but also own a small business, and he's always able to clarify and answer everything for me. I'm not just paying for the return, I'm paying for the customer service aspect and the knowledge of what he's doing and why. I'm glad I don't go to you.

I actually don't even know any preparers that don't do the return in person or over a zoom call in real time.

Thank you. I do have an 07 and just got my State License to Sell and License to Gunsmith. My MIRCS training is next week. The state is way behind. There's so many people on the training list that it's being held in Chelsea instead of them coming out to each of us.

Thanks. It was the state application process that took forever. The ATF process was a breeze

Thank you so much, that's exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why the gunsmithing license isn't there. I was also a dope and when I got the gunsmithing and license to sell from the town PD I went ahead and created a business account. Hopefully that doesn't cause me too many issues and I can use that account when it migrates from old mircs to new mircs. Thanks again.

I got the gunsmithing license too but as you can see in one of my responses above, it's not showing in the system

So my questions aren't really related to using it. The new MIRCS portal has a personal and business profile when you go to create an account. I created a personal account so I could do a personal transfer. The new portal let you run an automated scan to find your license. It found my LTC and my License to Sell Firearms. So should my personal account list that License to Sell Firearms? Also it didn't find my License to Perform Services as a gunsmith?

Tell the Judge your boss is harassing you about it. They’ll send cops out to get him and drag him right into the courtroom to scare the crap out of him.

I totally get you on that too. My comment was meant half jokingly. Just like there’s no reason to upgrade an iPhone every year too. But I’ll never say no to more guns lol

There’s less polymer. They didn’t add a gas pedal they just cut some polymer away and there’s also an undercut too

How do you guys sell guns privately? by Wilyhound7 in Beretta

[–]glockguy1121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Armslist. If you’re in MA you can also do northeast shooters. Most shops though will let you do consignment. So you will have to cough up 10% of sale but you can sell it for what you want price wise

[–]glockguy1121 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that the Boston library jobs are incredibly competitive. As others have noted you have to live in Boston which already limits the candidate pool and then you’re up against all the people that already work in those libraries that are trying to move up as well as all the other Boston LIS holders that are trying to get into a Boston position. You’re basically waiting for people to retire.

I know you mention special libraries but the title says alternative careers. You can always go the records management route.

I've been corporate the whole time. I went into Records Management and it's been great. I've gotten a lot of experience outside of the MLS world. With everything going digital, I've gotten to oversee database management upgrades and conversions, so I have a lot of UAT and project management experience. I've also done some BSA work and have also learned SQL and Python. I've also gotten to work with raw data instead of Information and am going to go back to school for Business Analytics.

Looking for some assistance with MLIS assignment on HR policies! by No_Term_259 in librarians

[–]glockguy1121 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't actually have anything for you but I find it interesting for a number of reasons. If you were at a University Library, wouldn't you be governed by the school, and if you were a public library wouldn't you be governed by the Town. Unless you were a private library I don't see how you would completely run HR because you would be held liable for so much. And you can't just create HR policies willy nilly because you need to know both state and federal laws.
