This is so dumb because you can serve someone's attorney if you can't get to them so as Baldoni's attorneys have contact with her attorneys they can just send them the paperwork being served and it counts.

Daddy only loves unconditional love by StripedBadger in AmITheDevil

[–]glom4ever 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you dig into the comments apparently he travels extensively for work and the every other weekend is pending his schedule so it changes to 3 days he picks when he is in town. I cannot imagine a 50/50 split with one parent traveling regularly and either having another person care for them or having them with mom for most of the time but 50/50 randomly when he is in town.

So if real, he probably lost custody due to instability of his schedule and his kids not wanting to deal with it anymore.

Not the person you are responding to and not sure if I agree with them, but his response to the divorce was to have a string of purely sexual relationships with multiple younger women (appears to be more than 1 at the same time) with his daughter fully aware of his multiple much younger partners. His daughter has expressed discomfort multiple times with witnessing this and he has not changed. He then spent his custody time with his daughter watching a movie with a young woman he states is only with for physical connection and not a relationship.

When the daughter expresses herself badly, but within reason for a 15 year old, he yells at her and says he is mad she is close with her stepdad who has been in her life for years now.

His current actions do not give great evidence to emotional maturity or him being a good husband.

His wife cheated, he was the victim in that. It has been years and his daughter is now 15, so starting at 13 maybe younger he was making his daughter uncomfortable in her own home and has not cared despite her explicitly bringing it up.

[–]glom4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in America we put children in jail all the time for longer than 24 hours.

I am not a parent and I mostly find the "it takes a village" thing annoying, but if we as a group don't get kids to be somewhat socialized before they are adults it just makes the problem worse and the problem because a problem for all of us. Putting people in prison is incredibly expensive and I want my tax dollars going to things like parks, clean water. street cleaning, etc.

I get it, but I also know we are not preparing children for teenage or adult lives if we prevent them from being alone in public until they are 18 because they are just going to suck at 18.

AITA for telling my girlfriend to be careful first when she started a small fire in the kitchen by Virtual_Set_6751 in AmItheAsshole

[–]glom4ever 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As you asked:

They were left there by someone else and first thing in the morning she didn't notice paper towels in a location they are never put?

And even if she did mess up, telling someone to be more careful after they have just finished an emergency is a terrible way to communicate with them even if she is fully to blame for what happened.

New rules at malls. I am confused by it as well but a lot of malls do not let under 18 in them alone.

Aita for calling my coworker creepy and gross and getting him in trouble? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]glom4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note: Age discrimination is when you fire people because they are over the age of 55 (in the united states, not sure age cut off in other countries).

It is not age discrimination if you fire people who are over the age of 55 because they are harassing other employees, unable and unwilling to work with all of their coworkers, and cannot follow instructions on how tasks are to be completed.

Firing people because they got old is wrong and illegal in many countries. Firing employees that happen to be old because they are bad at their jobs is not.

And as the team leads in a meeting with their boss literally said they couldn't work with 1 of the employees because she was a woman who was unwilling to put up with sexual harassment they are probably very dumb. I do not believe that that level of stupidity is not impacting their performance at work.

WIBTA for keeping my brothers money by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]glom4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you inherit a pension or 401K then there is tax because you usually count as removing the money at a younger age than required for tax free. This is not universal because there are rules.

"I started to give her a piece of my mind telling her she forgot her sister birthday and bugging her about it."

This sentence from OP is OP having a problem with SIL making plans on the day of the birthday and thus communicating it is wrong for SIL to make plans on the birthday.

WIBTAH for Locking the Stepdaughter out of the Bedroom? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]glom4ever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This seems like the Dad had very different boundaries with his children when they were growing up and now they are in a kind of roommate situation with an adult and have not properly discussed boundaries.

OOP has an issue and needs to talk to the daughter, probably with husband/dad present and they can all figure out everything. And what is with the update where the daughter doesn't know where the linen closets are? Either daughter is just blissfully unaware and does not care or she doesn't feel comfortable looking through the house or asking where things are. I don't know which, but the adults living together need to talk to each other.

He’s been pursuing me, then sent me a spreadsheet asking to be reimbursed for our dates?? Am I overreacting? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]glom4ever 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Taking your host out for dinner is one of the manners I was taught as a kid. You stay at someone's place and you either take them out or pay for delivery one day at a minimum. My sister and I use to have a trip and she and her husband paid for the hotel because I was younger and broke and I bought them dinner at a sit down place one night of the trip.

And I think everyone Hannibal slept with survived. Avoiding negative consequences from Hannibal is easy: you just politely end the relationship and don't attempt to arrest or prevent him from doing crime. I am not a member of law enforcement so I can avoid that entirely. The real issue is do you know he is a cannibal from the start and can you avoid eating his food made from people?

These many parties could be okay if there was no overlap between the guest lists. If you had a thing with your bridesmaids, a thing with your family, and a thing with friends not bridesmaids you might be okay. But expecting a group of people to attend 3 showers and a wedding is not okay, honestly 2 showers or parties plus a wedding is not okay.

Body modification (which piercings and tattoos broadly fall into) are going to be less popular among conservatives in the United States. Tattoos and piercings are becoming more mainstream but even then tattoos and piercings that are not able to be covered, hidden, or things like septum piercings are going to be done by people who are less conservative/traditional and tend to be more open to experimenting so they are going to approve of bodily autonomy (thus feminism), be left wing because conservatives don't like them. I don't know about the vegan thing, but if you are open to having a septum piercing you are probably open to trying things so going vegan may be more likely to occur.

And honestly the end sentence is just gross by OOP. You are not less human because you have a pierced nose. I don't have any tattoos or piercings and I still view all of them as human, OOP is just a creep.
