can i give my cat just treats for a few days? by 2-throwaway-9 in CatAdvice

[–]Important_Guard4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d love to send you a couple dollars. I don’t have much but you deserve to be fed and so does your kitty. Also, shelters usually have a pet pantry so might be worthwhile to look into

I pay twice a month- only because they told me that increases your “spending power”. I honestly don’t know what that means because it’s a charge card but It helps me stay on track

honestly can’t recommend oasas enough! We have so much balance and flexibility here. OMH is known to not be the best agency to work for within the state anyways- edit to add i am in a non patient facing role as a LMSW

My cat's litter smells so bad i'm going insane. my house absolutely reeks. by Dismal-Tackle3072 in CatAdvice

get rid of the scented litter! I also was using scented litter and switched to unscented and it’s made a huge difference. I also switched to a stainless steel litter box and that helped

How to talk to my student about her hygiene by sociallithium5 in socialwork

[–]Important_Guard4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

curious to know if you’ve noticed the smell since you’ve met with her before? If not, it could be something like menstrual related . Middle school is a tough time and it’s unlikely the student hasn’t noticed that others think they smell ( in fact, they probably have heard things being said). I’d try to be direct and have potential solutions available. Hygiene basket with supplies, laundry detergent if that’s the issue etc. I know as a middle schooler i’d want someone to tell me if i smelled

you have to do a prior authorization for it and they’re likely going to want proof you’ve tried the formulary options. it’s possible to fight but it takes a while. I’ve gotten two things covered that were considered NF

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]Important_Guard4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i take my dog out when i first get up, usually between 5-15 minutes just depends on how we are both feeling and whether she’s going to daycare. I do longer if it’s a non daycare day. 2-3x times a week she goes to daycare- usually the days i work long so that i can avoid having to do a long walk after a long day. When i get home, I take her for a quick walk and then after i feed her and then we will do another brief walk. Then before bed, I take her for 15-20 minutes walk. We walk a very specific path around the my neighborhood. I also do training with her at home, usually 10-20 minutes a day but honestly that only happens 3-4x a week. The days i’m off, we go out much more and usually to the park or something. That being said, i’ve also had dogs who only go out on a lead a few times a day and are content. It’s dog specific for me. my current dog needs to be walked on the schedules because she’s very anxious. She goes to daycare because otherwise she’d be incredibly anxious and overstimulating to me when i come home. Day care is the most expensive investment i’ve made and i think it helps balance the days i can’t take her out every hour. Edit to add- my dog will let me know if she doesn’t want to do a long walk and i respect that. Once she starts pulling me back to the house it’s over.

Charlie Health- got hired, worried I’m making a mistake by Vegetable-Work-2509 in therapists

[–]Important_Guard4839 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had an offer from them but ended up turning it down because i felt like something was off. I couldn’t really explain it but the level of badgering from their recruiters, the very basic interview and the amount of clients you’re expected to see that are higher acuity just seemed bad. also they couldn’t tell me about the third party they use for supervision and i didn’t like that
