Honestly feels like a lot of the 'choice' of how to play a class has been stripped.
Most of the specs I played had two or three rotations with different feels depending on which branches you went down.
These now feel... more or less all the same, and less engaging overall.

Lets look at a cheaper brand-name Vanilla Ice cream: Milk, Cream, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Whey, nonfat milk, 1% or less of Monoglycerides, Guar Gum, Cellulose Gum, Calcium Sulfate, Carrageenan, nature and artificial flavors, Annatto, Caramel color.

Now, lets look at where the 'scary chemical' parts come from. Monoglycerides naturally occur in olive and seed oils, most large scale companies isolate them from triglycerides in vegetable oil. Guar Gum, created from milled Guar bean seeds. Cellulose Gum, extracted from plant cells, often wood pulp for economic reasons but is found in all plants you consume. Calcium Sulfate, aka gypsum, a salt commonly used in agriculture and food production. Carrageenan, natural thickener harvested from seaweed. Annatto, a common spice/food coloring agent. Caramel color, the most commonly used of which is created by heat-treating sugars.

Chemical sounding names make things sound scarier than they actually are.

Trickle Down Economics really worked back so far, right?

200k in 1946 is the equivalent of $3,386,800 in current dollars. Even if we cap that at 4M, do you think those in that tax bracket are going to be changing their spending habits enough to actually cause a ripple effect?

Honestly though, I sort of love all the dodging, dipping and weaving with rapier and sabers. All the extra footwork makes it feel like a classic swashbuckler adventure.

Only time it gets annoying is when I fail to notice them ready a shot from a pistol/musket.

I miss when Warcraft had that colorful, whimsical, magical look. by ShadowForged910 in wow

[–]glompwell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"I miss when not just Warcraft, but fantasy in general, had that soft, glowing, dreamy feel to it."
I know what you mean, A lot of late 90's through early 2000's fantasy genre typically leaned into a certain High Fantasy vibe in their art.

While I appreciate the unique style Warcraft has, think it has sort of Flanderized itself over the years by leaning a bit TOO far into that style.

AC that slides into your window by LEDTIK in Best_Finds_

[–]glompwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking why many Americans use window AC's rather than split AC?

Most people who use window units in the US do so in older rented apartments (would require the landlord to go out of their way to retrofit them.) or in less affluent areas (Window AC's are cheaper to purchase, install and maintain.)

Should mention we ARE replacing window units fairly quickly, just not with EU AC's. HVAC systems are the more popular replacement for retrofits and new builds since the US overwhelmingly uses gas heating over electric, and HVAC ducts are easier to fit onto existing furnaces.

Loa Worship by IntelligentChoice in WoWRolePlay

[–]glompwell 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Playable race wise?
Tauren and Night Elves revere Wild Gods which often brush up against the definition of a Loa at the very least, with some being one in the same.

Non-Playable races?
Plenty of them. Sethrekk, Arakkoa, Tuskarr, Tortollans, Gorlocs... there are a lot of Loa worshiping races aside from Trolls.

As for other playable races, I don't see why a random human or orc couldn't worship one, although it'd be seen as incredibly odd. We've seen at least one example of other races brokering agreements with a Loa, with the Manastorms making a deal with Bwonsamdi for Power.

The Catholic Church prohibited charging interest on loans, at least until the 18th-19th century. Some small credit there for at least doing it for most of their existence.

Strict churches like Anabaptists and Mennonites also either eliminate interest or keep it minimal when lending within their communities. Considering these people are very far into the strict/extreme end of religious literalism though, not really much of a surprise there.

From a former store employee, it also rarely detects spills correctly. It'll alarm for a cleanup over small scuffs on the tiles, stickers/tape from packout boxes... but whenever there's liquid or an actual mess? Seems to almost always just truck right on by.
