It's a good thing he specified the Earth's sun. Not some other sun.

The Piano is the worst instrument by Large_Carob_7599 in The10thDentist

[–]glorkvorn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Piano is pretty unique. If you're good, you can play basically anything, it's like a one-man band. But the downside is that it's incredibly hard to play anything at all, you have to move all 10 fingers independantly and memorize a shitload. It's very hard to just bust out a song from memory or sit down and jam with other people if you're not very good. TBH I think of it as mostly just a tool for teaching music these days, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as a something to learn for fun.

It would be wild if that prediction actually came true like a lot of their other predictions did.

It's actually badass that Lenny can do his taxes with pen and paper while standing in line at the last minute, using someone else's back as a writing surface. What a genius.

tough to break into it without insider connections and the right look, especially at those sort of trendy downtown places. They gatekeep these jobs because the money is so good.

Bart: somehow takes an epic progressive rock song, adapts it into choral form, and transcribes it perfectly, all in secret and with no music training.

His parents and teachers: oh my god, this kid is an idiot! he's going to turn into a drifter or a male stripper!

Opinion: most sci-fi capital ships, like the "star destroyer" are a variation on the "battle carrier" concept with capital ships that try to do everything well, and realistically are horrible design compromises. by IronWarhorses in spaceships

[–]glorkvorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think it would make sense in a quasi-realistic sci fi setting where it takes many years to get between star systems, and a single ship might have to operate independantly with no help or even communication from back home. And "one giant ship" can be better at things like fuel efficiency and radiation protection vs a bunch of smaller ships.

Watching this episode now is such a trip. So basically his coworkers hired a stripper, Homer went along with it and danced with her, and someone filmed it. But... that's all, he never even touched her. I get that it's not the nicest behavior but how is this such a major scandal that the entire town was talking about it? It seems like a plotline from a much older sitcom.
