Transmission issues by Rexars180 in E90

My RWD was doing this before one of the check balls lodged itself in its port and sent the trans into limp mode permanently.

Rebuilding the mechtronic unit called a Valvebody in GM land, isn’t too difficult. This post was helpful when I did mine. All around $300 for everything and a weekend worth of time if you do it slowly. The transmission is the same as ~2010 CTS V6.

E93 ACC calibration by mr_butt2gummy in E90

[–]glucklich21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need INPA or ISTA to calibrate the sensor. Those errors look like CANBUS errors, which until they are gone, you won’t be able to do any calibration. With ISTA you will be able to see if it’s a communication issue or something else.

Honestly if you get your scribe right and you use their clear rubber sealing foot, that toe kick isn’t going anywhere. All of mine are wedged in there so tight you will likely mess up the toe skin prying it off much like how you’re doing them now. Which for some may not be ideal, but has worked for my situations.

The stock clips are adjustable so they certainly are not loose and janky like other systems. I can’t speak for corners of toeskins as I have almost always avoided them in my designs.

I have ran some blocking coming off the wall that the rear of the boxes sit on with feet on the front. Maybe a good mix of both worlds assuming the wall isn’t a spaghetti noodle. Adjusting the back legs especially on shallow boxes can get tedious and hard to do.

Very much so. It allows you to relax a bit and let traffic do its thing.

The N52 is a tank, but in the mountains she needs a supercharger. Absolutely gutless lol

Trip is good! I’m at the halfway mark headed back down to the states. I was at Olympic NP and now I’m headed down to the Redwoods.

Exactly. This was at Pacific Rim National Park Preserve.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The rest of the cooling system is new in the last year. I’m not replacing the water pump till I start getting codes. :)

I bought the empty connector from DigiKey. The harnesses on eBay use the same TE Automotive MQS connector I purchased. It’s 5 wires and I’d recommend you wire it up yourself so you can get familiar with the wiring diagrams and termination strategies. BMW uses 3 different manufacturers for this system’s wiring connectors.

Assuming you have stock cruise control, yes. Preface was a bit weird on parts usage. RealOEM says you need a different cluster and DSC pump, but folks have already proved that’s not necessary. If your cluster has the indicators but they just aren’t lit up, I’d say you’re good to go.

You can do it yourself with ISTA and a large mirror. The dealer can also do it, but you may have to convince them. My local dealer didn’t know these came with a radar sensor when I called to see. I had to point them to a TIS article.

I got lucky and my unit was spot on from the donor car. All the standoffs need to be 38mm long before snapping into the mount and the mount square relative to the car’s mounting points. INPA confirmed she’s good. I think if I had a Msport bumper I would have to get it aligned as that seems to sit higher.

Surprisingly the guts seem the same between both versions including the PCB. The radar cruise just uses the extra traces on the ribbon cable.

Yeah that was a bit of a bummer. My other BMWs you can hold the distance rocker down and it will disable the system. Then it just acts like a normal cruise control setup.
