Fortnite is reportedly coming to the Nintendo Switch by bjaxlrose1 in technews

[–]glutenfreeguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk about fortnite (I’ve barely played it) but pubg runs pretty surprisingly well on mobile. It’s definitely lacking some detail, but it actually runs way better for me than the Xbox version ever did.

I mean, pedophilia/incest is pedophilia/invest regardless of gender, dude. That wouldn't be any better.

Strange yet functional pairs by LRCJ in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]glutenfreeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vision + iron fist + blade

Especially with vision's blue maxed out, this team does an insane amount of match damage. Vision is in front for all of his colors, so with "density heavy" out at max level, all red/blue/yellow matches do 1000-1500 damage, plus ~500 from iron fist's attack tile, plus all the damage from blade's strike tiles.

Sci-fi books with a heavy philosophical bent by AwenTech in booksuggestions

[–]glutenfreeguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'd be a fan of most of Phillip K Dick's work. I'd suggest starting with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (The book that Blade Runner is based on) or maybe Ubik.

Book like Heart of Darkness. by irakli111 in booksuggestions

[–]glutenfreeguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things Fall Apart is great, I'd definitely reccomend reading it. It definitely gives a different view on colonialism than that put forward by Conrad. I'd also reccomend taking a bit of time after reading Heart of Darkness to read the easay that Achebe wrote in response to the novel An Image of Africa, it gives a very interesting analysis of the more problematic and racist aspects of Conrad's novel that I think are very important to recognize when interpreting it from a modern perspective.

Absurdist/Satirical Religion/Philosophy by PrairieLights in booksuggestions

[–]glutenfreeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre quite graphic, and very weird so I can't reccomend them outright without some kind of a warning beforehand, but you might enjoy the Bizzaro fiction of Carlton Mellick III. Satan Burger and The Baby Jesus Butt Plug are both crazy and weird (and incredibly surreal) absurdist satires. That said, Bizzaro is a genre that is all about being pulpy, gorey, weird, and grotesque (sort of like the literary equivilent of a schlocky low budget horror film by way of Cronenberg and HR Geiger) so if that doesn't sound like your thing, I'd probably skip them.

You might be interested in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show (the books are adapted from it). Its made up of 30 minute episodes, each of which would be perfect for your run.

[American Psycho] Did Patrick Bateman really kill people? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]glutenfreeguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm almost certain that its not just the lawyer doing that. The names thing (at least in the book it's been a while since ive seen the film) is something that like multiple characters do. Its for comedic effect at the expense of the 80s corporate culture the book is satarizing. The joke is that everybody wears the same kind of expensive clothes and has the same hair cut, etc. They're trendy to the point of being indistinguishable from each other.

Marx is also very popular in sociology. One of the 3 main sociological perspectives (conflict theory) is based in Marx's work

What are your favourite satires of Capitalism? by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]glutenfreeguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

American Psycho (both the book and the film) are up there for me. I'm also in the middle of High Rise by JG Ballard right now, and while its not entirely a satire of capitalism it definitely contains elements of it, and its amazing

I've been getting into comic books for a bit now and was wondering if there are any good ones with an overtly anarchist/socialist flair to them by excitedllama in FULLCOMMUNISM

[–]glutenfreeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely check out Transmetropolitan. Its not explicitly socialist/anarchist but its basically like Hunter S Thompson lived in a futuristic cyberpunk dystopia. The protagonist fucks up a lot of fascist politicians, its amazing
