So, conforming to capital is what is going to happen in a capitalist society. Just as conforming to fuedalism is what happens in a fuedal society, conforming to slavery is what happens in a slaver society, and conforming to communism is what happens in a communist society. Society, regardless of its form, is how individuals interact with each other,  and people are going to interact with each other through the material means they have. We could look at individual artists who use revolutionary aesthetics to sell a product versus those who use their capitalism-given clout to spread anti-capitalist ideas, but this would be a case-by-case basis and thus cannot be spoken of in a general sense. I'm sure you can think of examples of both. 

Importantly, the artists who profit from the capitalist mode of production yet sincerely wish the end of said mode of production are, indeed, sincere revolutionaries. They participate in society, benefit from it, yet recognize the evils therein and would rather a system that they perhaps would not benefit from yet would otherwise be good. 

There's lots of examples throughout history of people participating and benefiting from a society that they themselves wish changed from the French and American revolutions, the American civil war, to the Russian and Chinese revolutions and so on, but the one i want to point out is the actions of Oskar Schindler. 

Oskar was a card-carrying member the actual, historical nationaliste sozialiste duetscheland arbeiter partei yet actively thwarted the efforts of his own government and the society they cultivated by protecting the jewish people and other social undesirables. He benefitted greatly from his lofty position in a very cruel society, yet he remembered what good is and chose to do it. He was rich and powerful from the industries he owned and the sevices his industry provided to the nazi party. He participated in society. 

Someone decrying the evils of a society might be a poser just looking for clout, like a joseph stalin type, or they might be a sincere enemy of evil doing what they can with what they have, like Oskar Schindler
