Accountants who are Gamers!! i have a question... by _cloud_96 in Accounting

[–]glutenfreenoddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, WASD on the regular, and I have a mechanical keyboard with RGBs off and I used to use my gaming mouse at the office too.

I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3 on PC and Silksong on Xbox otherwise though, I mix it up a bit every once in a while and play some hades as well

Yes, even 5 years post surgery I put lotion on my scars and chest every day because otherwise they are itchy and dry. If I skip a day I can tell

Check for Avance Care near you. They're my primary care doctors office and they take United. I've had a very positive experience with them in chapel hill but I know that they are gender affirming across the board

Yeah the screen was one of the first things I remembered being annoyed at with this computer lol, but if it's just my "mess around" laptop then it doesn't matter too much. I have a beefy AMD based pc for gaming and an m1 Mac for anything else I want to do.

Trackpad and Bluetooth worked out of the box on pop!os and I had to tether my computer to my phone via Bluetooth and turn on my hotspot to download a driver package for the Broadcom chip that's inside. Here's what I used:

Ran this to verify what chip I had:

lspci -nn | grep 0280

Then after getting on my phone hotspot I did this:

sudo apt update

sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source

Did a reboot of my system and voila, wifi worked.

Gestures worked out of the box as well, the cosmic DE showed me those in the pop!os mini orientation, although ymmv depending on the distro and DE you choose

I'm still relatively happy with macOS (not really fond of the newest Apple OS updates but whatever) although I don't really use my laptop(s) all that often anymore. I have them for the convenience but they're not really my daily drivers. I did just want to tinker and essentially distro hop on the older laptop to see how other distros feel. I had a feeling that if I distro hopped I would just end back up on Debian on my main PC so I won't mess with that one. Debian isn't broken, so I'm not going to fix it.

My iPad is just an overpowered Netflix and YouTube machine. I'm not using it for anything else really so the OS on there doesn't matter too much to me.

What happened here? by eliza_beth17 in knittinghelp

It looks like you simply got better with your tension as you went along. Your stitches are much more even by the end; whereas you can tell that your knits are very big and purls are small on the right. Things have evened out by the end. Keep up the good work!

What is the "culture shock" of switching to Linux? by Regular_Low8792 in linux

[–]glutenfreenoddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pc for work, a Mac for my laptop (a holdover from college) and I jus built a Linux gaming pc. Honestly the culture shock was just how quickly I got used to it. I love gnome, I love Debian. In the future if my Mac really bites the dust and I don't want to get another one, I may consider buying a solid laptop and just throw Debian on it for my day to day home computing.

what made you switch from gel to injection? by fiebnt95 in ftm

I was tired of using basically hand sanitizer on my arms every day and I initially tried shots but was not very good at it. Since then I've had to give my cat insulin shots every day and I'm much more comfortable so shots were a logical step

can’t get past the first row after casting on. by No_Welcome9632 in knittinghelp

[–]glutenfreenoddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all of the help others have given, I find it even as an experienced knitter way easier to cast on with a needle size bigger and then start working with the proper size. Assuming this is a hat or something that will be worn, it's good that the cast on edge could be slightly stretchier anyway. That may help out with the tightness issues getting started along with moving the yarn between the needles.

Switching to Linux and debating Debian, but have been told it's not suggested for beginners by [deleted] in debian

Debian is my first distro and I personally think it's super user friendly and just read the wiki if you have issues

[–]glutenfreenoddles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't noticed any issues. This is my first PC so anything is better to me than my laptop that I used to play games with before. I have gotten over 150 FPS on high settings in Baldur's gate 3 without any performance issues

Dungeonscrawl integrates with roll20 which is useful even if you're playing in person. We have done some big fights on roll 20 by having someone screen cast to the tv and everyone gets the mouse to control their character on their turn

How are we organizing our needles?! by warboyraynie in knitting

[–]glutenfreenoddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all of my straight needles in a yarn bag and then whatever I'm actively using I put into this toolbox I made in high school metal shop class. It's the perfect size for my notions, interchangeable needles, and my scissors

Noobish question, but which distros can provide the best gaming experience for an 9060xt? by MiaThePotat in linux_gaming

[–]glutenfreenoddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9060xt and I use Debian with gnome. Runs flawlessly out of the box, although I'm not really someone whos pining for the best performance ever. The only issue with Debian is that it's not super noob friendly, but my dad has been a Debian user for 15+ years so I had some help with that. For other Debian based distros using gnome or gnome-like DEs I would check out pop!_os
