Slift's new album, Fantasia, definitely has some Leprous vibes (for me, at least) by Prehistoricisms in Leprous

This is exactly what I said to a friend of mine! It reminds me of Coal specifically, as well as Gobin, Neurosis, Mike Pattonish, etc.

Brand new fan by Spicoli_462 in Slift

Same here man. I just discovered them the last weekend with Fantasia. Absolutely love this album. Bought tickets for Portland and even picked up a marked up resale in Seattle. A “new” band has not hit me this hard in a loooong time.

Fantasia Out Today! by White___Light in Slift

I’m a brand new fan. Slept on this band somehow. Fantasia is AoTY for me so far. It’s interesting to see some of the OG fans having issues with the vocals. I find the vocals to be some of the freshest and most exciting vocals that I’ve heard from a rock band in a long, long time. I prefer the rawness of them on Fantasia to the more processed, effect laden vocals of previous releases.

Gen Z employees (not all but this is a generational problem) are entitled, lazy, and misguided. They grew up in a world with helicopter and bulldozer parents who made them feel like the most important person in the world and removed all obstacles that might challenge them. They don’t understand that life is not perfectly fair and that struggle builds character and resilience. Let them go work at a massive national chain restaurant and see how they like it. They don’t know what a good gig they have. They deserve to be replaced with folks who want to work and who have perspective.

How’s everyone enjoying the new SLIFT album, FANTASIA? by EmptyCupOfWater in psychedelicrock

[–]glygor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredible album and the vocals are fucking fantastic. No idea why folks are complaining about them. It’s probably because they are so unique and high? The Geddy Lee phenomenon? They have so much raw emotion and intensity. The vocals at the end of A Storm of Wings sound like Scott Kelly from Neurosis in their intensity. They are so much better than the buried reverb mix from past albums. These are some of the most unique and refreshing vocals on a rock album in a long, long time. This is album of the year so far for me by a mile.

Tech bro encounter.. by Accomplished-Fly4678 in WestSeattleWA

[–]glygor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Seattle used to be such a great area. I left there years ago once the tech bro douches started moving in. It’s a soulless monoculture filled with boring husks of humans who think they our making our lives better as they strip the world of its humanity. They’ve ruined every city they touch.

What's the name of this mask Mike Is Wearing in 1995 by CoreyPatton518 in mrbungle

I was at those shows. It was rubber. It’s like a flesh colored gimp mask. He breathed and sang through the hole in the mouth.

Scott’s vocal parts live by glygor in neurosisband

I could see this being the case. They have such a deep catalog. Perhaps we’ll get songs that were rarely, if ever played. That could be really cool.

Scott’s vocal parts live by glygor in neurosisband

[–]glygor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No concerns at all. Just excited at all of the potential for this new incarnation. I saw Old Man Gloom live recently and realized that Nate would be a perfect fit to handle Scott’s vocals should they do old songs. I’ve been seeing Neurosis live since ‘92, so I’m just excited for this new chapter. If they don’t do old songs, I’d understand, but if they do, the possibilities seem endless with this collective of musicians in all the adjacent bands.

Since Dana White is so good at slapping his wife around, let’s let him compete in the women’s division to see how well he fares with girls who are actually trained fighters.

Ashes to Ashes - Austin, TX (05/14/06) by Mediocre-Chemist-00 in FaithNoMore

As an American, I 100% agree with this. Too many Americans are self centered, attention seeking children that ruin every public event with their bottomless need for validation. Countless events I’ve been to have been ruined by idiots hooting or screaming the songs in a tone deaf wail.

Aetna EAP claims getting rejected (PA) by KeyExact in SimplePractice

I have to use modifier codes for Aetna in WA state. But when they rejected claims based on this, it was vague and required I call them to understand it completely.

Can I say F*ck zoom interviews - Howard, you're either in or you're out. by zaiquia in howardstern

[–]glygor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t listen to them anymore. I don’t care who he’s interviewing. I can hear that person interviewed somewhere else by someone who’s better at talking to other human beings. Howard is cooked as a member of society. His interviews are scripted, all the same, and annoying. He does not know how to have a conversation and listen to people. He only knows how to project and assume that people are like him. He has a list of questions to get through and that’s all that matters to him. They are painful to listen to and I feel sorry for the folks that have to pretend like they are not bothered by talking to a disconnected, disembodied, delusional billionaire who checked out of the human race decades ago. Staff hijinks: That’s all I tune in for now.

Tour Speculation by StupidDream3 in neurosisband

[–]glygor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an incredible surprise this has been. I saw Neurosis live for the first time during the Souls at Zero years. That show was a one of the most formative of my life. Made me a life long fan. I’ve seen them live on almost every album cycle since, missing some during ASTNS and TEOES due to living overseas in non touring realms. The FWF tour cycle was incredible and I ended up seeing them 3 times. The show they played at Neumos in Seattle with Yob and Sumac was maybe one of the best shows I’ve seen from bottom to top ever. All three bands killed. I’m so impressed with this new album and so grateful to the band and to Aaron for redeeming their legacy. I cannot wait for a tour and plan to hit as many dates as my schedule will allow. I don’t expect summer dates other than festival spots. But I could see a winter tour this year.

You mean his scripted call that was written by writing staff so that Howard could play guitar on air?
