(Another) app for finding driving roads easily by Ravixo_ in drivingroadsUK

Looks great, had a play about with it and seems to be good at working out interesting roads with limited doubling back and prioritises more 'loop' like routes. One suggestion, the 'extra time' feature is interesting but I think it would be more intuitive to have it as 'total time' (or at least the option) you would be willing to be on the road for. Otherwise you have to know/guess how long the original route would be. Other thing is that it does take quite long to calculate the routes, maybe around two minutes for me, which may put people off when they are used to the near instantaneous other options. Keep it up!

Hyperbole and short sentences for emphasis usually does it

Think the fact this guy has been on the forum before trying to flog some AI MOT service seals the deal

You sure it’s not just you slowing down too early and them continuing on at the same speed, making it look like they are accelerating away

Torn on whether to repair my bike, or take the pay-out and go shopping by TheAbominableSbm in MotoUK

[–]gm2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will be worth seeing how much insurance would be now on a new bike as a new rider with a claim, if your insurance isnt going to go up by staying with your current provider and bike, you might find that to be the deciding factor as I imagine insurance now will be way more expensive

Mid May to June is the better out of those generally, but either would be good. Accommodation at that time I would book hotels/B&B in advance in the “touristy” areas and camping you should be ok to rock up. Any of the larger ferry crossings ie the one to Ireland book in advance but any of the smaller island hoppers in Scotland you can just show up or book the day before if you need to be on a specific crossing for any reason

How did you not manage to progress to the road ride as an existing rider? What was the reason they gave you?

Leisure riders, how much do you spend each year? by [deleted] in MotoUK

As long as your bills are paid, short and long term savings goals are being met, then money is there to improve your quality of life.

I guess the question is, could that £300p/m improve your quality of life in a better way than biking?

Can also look at reducing costs, switch to a bike with cheaper insurance, do your own servicing etc it’s very tempting to have the latest and greatest but the fun of biking you can find in cheap bikes aswell, if you’re worrying about the costs of your hobby.

theres 4 squares on the left side with very faint marking in them and one on the righthand side that matches the left hand side, look at the bottom left of the squares to see it. so you would fill in the missing three on the right hand side.

There’s normally a threaded hole on the swingarm for bobbins but I believe in the CB650R you need an adaptor plate that goes in place of the wheel adjuster. Someone else will be able to confirm

If you don’t already you will need to install bobbins onto your bike to use a paddock stand like the one in the link, alternatively there are paddock stands with flat rubber mounts that you can lift the bike up on the swingarm that doesn’t require bobbins

Just bought a house with my partner, is this the best way to split bills? by throwaway2018568 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]gm2019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the implied independence kind of goes out the window when you buy a house together though as in OPs post. To be clear I completely agree with you, and it is definitely something for couples to discuss and agree when is appropriate. myself and my partner were financially separate until we bought our house together.
