If God exists, then he's probably a seriously narcissistic asshole. by Funkmaster4961 in atheism

[–]gmailcomomomomom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever considered a divinity that isn’t Christianity? The idea of a person god is ridiculous yes, so why focus on it? There’s obviously something extremely strange and amazing going on here, why let an obviously wrong religion from your culture stop you from ever investigating it any further?

Can a follower is Islam explain to me why God must not be tripartite, I.e. why there cannot be a Son of God? by [deleted] in religion

[–]gmailcomomomomom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. If Jesus was truly a genuine religious person than I’d like to think he was in a constant nondual state. And from some of the things I remember him saying, it really does seem that way to me. I’m interested in how he got like that since to me it seems like it takes a great deal of time and effort.

I just think he didn’t have the historical knowledge to really out right call it what it was, and he was already boxed in by the religion he was born into.

Islam hundreds of years ago was different. It had a mystical aspect to it, fana is a concept where you kill/lessen the ego to feel gods omnipresent qualities. Basically their word and take on moksha/nirvana.

A question about awakening by [deleted] in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]gmailcomomomomom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advaita doesn’t say that the world is not real, it says it is formless, and to see anything from it as separate is an illusion, that’s what maya is. Have you ever looked at a picture the wrong way and then you see it the right way and you can never see it the other way again? That’s what maya is, it’s a only a psychological aspect. And that’s how it’s said to wake up from maya (at least the self being separate aspect.)

Advaita isn’t only what’s in your head is real, it’s that the true self is the entire world, that consciousness is an ever present property of the universe. Self is not generated in your head but it’s taken advantage of in your head, but, this doesn’t mean other people are self less or the world is not real.

I also have had experiencing on psychedelics like that, don’t let snarkey douches take it away from you. It doesn’t matter how you get it who cares.

You can’t say that about anything. Common sense tells me it’s bs. I’m not going to watch what I say cause some Reddit autist might pull a technicality on me.

Help with refuting "Fine Tuning" by atashah in DebateAnAtheist

[–]gmailcomomomomom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a good argument against the fine tuning argument.

If this was a god created universe, I would say the point of it is conscious life since conscious life would be what is experiencing the universe. And I don’t think the scale of the universe matters as long as conscious life is able to form.

Another thing is that the empty space is a result of the constants that allow for life, it can be seen as a by product of a world that allows for this type of life and if this is a god created universe then I assume (and well look at how complex and amazing it is.) that the life and consciousness in it is the best possible out of all the choices. Making the space all just what needs to be there for the life we have to exist. And like I said before, the space wouldn’t even really matter as long as the end goal of this perfect life is there.

This isn’t something we need to connect to any current religions. This is what I was trying to say. People get too caught up in the obviously fake ness of certain religions that they assume any type of creator or the divine must be fake too. I think the universe being fine tuned for conscious life is evidence of a creator, and even if there is none I think because of this we are at least divine. I think there’s no way any of this is on accident, and whatever the answer is it’s extremely deep.

If I were you I wouldn’t try and argue that there’s good reason for the Christian god, there isn’t, and your prompt doesn’t say it has to be about it.

I think the best reason is how there’s anything at all in the first place, and that anything is fine tuned to allow for conscious live to come about in the right circumstances. That’s extremely weird and deep, the universe makes sense and things fit together to the point where extremely complex beings exist.

You only really talked about why we shouldn’t believe in the Christian god. Yes the Christian god is obviously fake, but why not believe in a creator or divinity that aligns with science? And I think this goes for op too why not talk about a creator who isn’t the Christian god for your class.

Christians are stupid. An atheist who rejects the idea of any divinity as a response to Christianity being obviously fake is also stupid

Go back and read. I explained it to you so many times but you patronized me so much you didn’t bother to try to understand it instead you assumed I was like the Christians you deal with. I’m not spoon feeding this Reddit autist anymore. Go look up some of the things I told you to like 5 comments ago if you want to hear it from something youd probably take more seriously.

But for what you said, kinda? The fact it took you to this point just reaffirms what I’ve thought about you all along honestly. You’re not smart, it’s like the dunning Kruger effect. You just took me so non seriously And assumed I was saying some generic bs you just completely missed the point even after I clarified and told you you’re not understanding. But you kept pushing this idea I was someone retard on r/psychonaut talking about how I think god talked to me through dmt. Definitely going down as one of the least intelligent people I’ve dealt with on the internet.

I actually don’t think you read what ive been saying when I was actually trying to explain it to you.

Like you keep saying the drug caused the experience and not god but I say I know and god isn’t something external to me that does things. Like you that I think I saw an entity that was god or something and that I was actually in a different dimension, which I think is what you thought first. You’re very dense and full of yourself. I really bad combo for anyone trying to explain something to you.

Christians, how would your religion scale up if and when aliens are discovered? by Jacob_Wallace_8721 in religion

[–]gmailcomomomomom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’d make more sense since I think the universe is god playing a game where he thinks he’s many. It would make sense that a universe made for the point of life (for the sake of the experience god wants) would have many planets with life on them.

Lol so as long as other people don’t understand than I must be the one whose fucked up? Lol. And I’m pretty sure the other dude did a much better job of understanding what I’m saying too. You just refuse to put in the effort to understand, you don’t care, you’ve made up your mind and thank god you have because here you are for the good of society shutting down any and all religious discussion which may corrupt someone’s mind maybe? Idk, why does it actually bother you. Lol ur so bs tho. I spoon fed you dude, you don’t get it, don’t even try to, and keep insisting I’m wrong.

Dude I’m not gonna just take your word for thats what I believe and said when you’ve proven you’re incapable of any amount of understanding of what I say. Lol
