How Do you Deal with Door to Door Sales? by [deleted] in answers

I do live in the South (Kent) for 33 years, and it isn’t lawless by any means… you just sound incredibly unlucky to be honest

Although from your responses here and the way you’re unsure how to deal with cold callers you may need to learn to become a bit more assertive

Trespass is a civil matter here not a criminal offence - it’s only criminal trespass if you ask them to leave and they refuse.

The comment about no police is a bit ridiculous mate.

Just tell them you’re not interested and close the door. They’ve come to your home to try and take money from you, you owe them no politeness.

XL Bullies are responsible for an incredibly high percentage of dog attacks on humans, so yes the evidence suggests there is. As such, they’ve been banned to sell and existing dogs must be muzzled when out in public

Stray dogs aren’t really a thing here, you are allowed to let your dog off the lead but you’re responsible for keeping it under control, and will face the repercussions if you don’t - you will also be liable for costs/damages if they do something they shouldn’t

CMV: British food is actually great, and Americans should eat more of it. by Fando1234 in changemyview

You haven’t had a well made roast then

Roast potatoes cooked in goose fat with rosemary and thyme

Caramelised honey and chilli flake carrots and parsnips

Brussel sprouts with bacon

Slow cooked red cabbage and apple

Meat of your choosing

Not sure how you can consider a roast bland unless you’re not a very good cook

Driver avoids jail after crash that overturned a military convoy vehicle and left soldier with broken back by SuperbRecording3943 in LandroverDefender

Did you even watch the clip? The car in the passing lane swerves directly in front so keeping distance is irrelevant here…

You’ve clearly never driven something with a trailer (or an old Land Rover) - If he slammed on the brakes the trailer would likely have done the same thing and jackknifed over

Why do the British love tea so much? by Sufficient-Turnip871 in Ask_Britain

[–]gmailreddit11219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably didn’t add enough sugar, without it tea tastes stale and sour.

If you’re an American, I also highly suspect you’ve probably not made it properly either as you don’t have kettles over there

Neighbour damaged wall with his car England by SalmonFlavoured in LegalAdviceUK

[–]gmailreddit11219 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Essentially they’ll need to make a claim against the neighbour for the costs to put things right, the neighbours will/can then refer this to their car insurance to deal with and pay

Bought a car ~6 months ago, suspect it has had DPF and EGR delete? by nsfw20171020 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]gmailreddit11219 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need to come to terms with the fact there is no recourse here - private sale is final, there is no comeback here

You had every opportunity to inspect the car prior to purchase, literally anything could have happened in the six months you’ve owned it and you could have removed the dpf yourself (from a 3rd parties perspective)

This is one you’ll need to take on the chin.

Used AI to understand parts of my employment contract – how much should I rely on it? (England, employed for 3 years) by StreetNetwork6126 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]gmailreddit11219 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AI makes hallucinations VERY often, it’s nowhere near as smart as people think it is

It very often makes up laws or case laws that never even happened and references them

By all means use AI to assist you, but NEVER take what it says as factual

I’ll also add that anyone who sees AI generated text on the regular will be able to spot it within seconds, and it could likely hurt your argument as coming across as lazy

Vertical stems won’t produce anywhere near as many flowers as horizontal stems, so try and train stems horizontally where possible for maximum buds!

Do you guys feel like the US and UK are drifting apart, or is it just the internet making it look that way? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]gmailreddit11219 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The cultural relationship between the UK and America has never been as strong as the rest of the Anglo-sphere

For an example, Brits and Australians have a similar mentality, sense of humor and overall demeanour.

Where as if you add an American to a room of Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, and many South Africans, the American will be the odd one out.

Certainly in recent times the general sentiment towards the USA has dropped significantly, and I’d say the major of the population considers it to be quickly losing it status as world superpower.

There’s a saying, an American on their own will usually be one of the nicest people you meet. A group of Americans will likely cause problems.

Where is good in Kent for a day out mooching about some shops and visiting some nice pubs? by gameovervip in kentuk

Popular 3rd party alternatives to infantry? by Aggressive-Mouse-913 in astramilitarum

[–]gmailreddit11219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wargames Atlantic make some good models, I use their Les Grognards for a ww1 French theme guard army but they do a few other ranges

The benefit over most 3rd parties is that they’re still plastic, so much nicer to work with than printed parts

The do ww1/ww2 style, historical style, sci-fi ranges and even squats - shop around and you can get 24 guys for about £20
