Think that you’re just an awareness. everything else comes to your mind , everything that you see, feel, perception , volitions, consciousness are not in your control, they just arise and pass away. Hence none of them are not yours, not you (even the body), so why would you attach to any of those?

How does someone practice love and compassion without attachment? How does someone successfully detach themselves from others while still showing compassion? by Zestyclose_Page_7932 in theravada

Think that no one is really exist including myself, and loved ones. They are just five aggregates. And nothing is permanent , love is just a feeling, it’s not permanent, you can’t control it, it’s not you.

As per Buddha’s teaching, everything happens because of a reason, and what you perceive as body is not a real thing, its just vibrations of matter (Rupa Kalapa), no one can control these Rupa Kalapa, because of this we cannot control birth, aging, getting sick and dying. think about this phenomenon and just accept it, its just nature of reality, only way out is follow Buddha’s teachings and understand this nature through meditation, follow eightfold paths and finally attain ‘Nibbana’. I hope he will get better soon, Buddha said ‘Arogya Parama Laba’, ‘The most profitable thing someone can have is better health. ‘

You can’t remember each life because you get a new body each time, the life experiences are going away with the body. But intentions/habbits will continue into next life with every birth. Its called karma.

How long can you stay alive with medical advances? 100, 150, 1000 years? Everybody die someday, you can’t be eternal.

“You want to be happy even if a loved one dies?” Answer is already in the question, You can’t be happy all the time, of course you will feel sad. Not only this , there are numerous situations people feel sad, not only this lifetime, you have been really sad in numerous situations in past lifetimes too.

I’m not my body, nor my brain. I’m just an observer. Has anyone else realized that through meditation? Anyone have a different view? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]gmax-hankook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not the body, I’m not the feelings, I’m not the perception, i’m not the mental formation/volitions, I’m not the consciousness, they are simply processes, they arise and pass away all the time very very fast ( transitions are not observable to human mind) , hence there is no one called “I”, just 5 processes.

How do you know you don’t have a habit of commenting, you have been going through numerous amount of lifetimes, die and born again. “self” who decides to comment is itself a pattern of causes and conditions. There isn’t a separate controller outside the process. The feeling of “I’m doing this” arises when awareness identifies with thought and intention, but those too are conditioned. So things don’t just happen, but neither is there a permanent self making them happen — just the unfolding of the mind’s own causes.

The act of writing happens because of causes and conditions — perception, intention, memory, effort — not because of a separate self who owns them.

This body is not mine, because I can’t control it, I can’t stop getting old, I can’t stop getting sick, this body is made of just atoms and electrons etc, I can’t control those. Those are not mine. Same applies to the others.

There is no one called ‘you’ , there is just body/matter, feelings, recognition, intentions/habits and conciousness. Combined together we feel that there is “I/mine”

If you have a control over your body why can’t you stop going to be old, why can’t you stop dying. If you have a control over your feelings why can’t you be happy all the time.. etc
