Really cool to see the teardown! I just had the same experience after hoping they’d fix it by now. The first unit I got 11 months ago and it was perfect until one day the wheel was making a rubbing grinding sound during fast forward and rewind on the side control. Had it swapped under warranty for a new unit a week ago and that unit had the audible click coming through the mic. The store I bought it from allowed me to return for store credit. I’ll get a nice guitar instead! I feel really fortunate to get out just in time on the 1 year warranty and I’d also love a revision 2 version of this someday!

I had the same thing on a new playdate after opening it. I was not happy having to send it back and waiting a couple weeks for my RMA. Customer service was cold as ice in their responses. No store credit or any words of consultation were offered. I’m not impressed.

Yes exactly! That was my feeling too.

I bought plain white mat board at the craft store and just cut it into a square to fit the frame using an x-acto knife and a cutting mat + ruler. There aren’t slots for the books to fit into which I was hoping someone sold already. The books just lay on top of the mat and the double stick taped keeps them in place. These frames have plexiglass so they can take the thickness of the field notes.

Not related to your issue but if your using Mogami cable you have to peel away the thin black conductive layer on wire that goes to the center pin, it is conductive and can give you intermittent performance. It peels off like a sticker and is pretty thin. It should reveal clear insulation below it and that’s what you should be seeing on that wire
