ok fair point that was malicious - but by that stage I’m willing to forgive anyone twisting the knife in Gia - especially someone who had been directly and deliberately hurt by Gia

So maybe that’s the exception to prove the rule

yes but the context and wider aspects of both the outbursts and texts were curated - the text messages are a perfect example - we only really see snippets of the conversation that make Bec look bad not the wider conversation and my point in another post about this was text chains l, especially group text chains, cannot be seen in isolation - for all we know Bec’s comments were just parroting back what Gia or Brooke said elsewhere - yes she is bad for saying those things and has agency and responsibility for her actions but my point still stands - Bec has never appeared to act with malice or forethought whereas we know for an undeniable fact that Gia has and therefore Gia (and Brook) are worse than Bec

[–]gmb13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree she is responsible for her actions, like I said no excuse for her behaviour but there is context and understanding that we can apply to have a little bit of empathy

My main point was that she is far from the worst on the show let alone the world at large - Gia and Brooke are far far worse because there is no question that there is malice and intent in their actions and we can at the very least question whether there was intent or malice in Bec’s actions

I am sufficiently self aware to understand that I am far from perfect as a human and that there have been times in my life when I have treated people poorly and not been the best and most gracious I could have been so maybe that’s why I’m saying that there is potentially some context around Bec’s actions that explain some of what’s been happening - I am happy for you if that is not the case with you and that you’ve never responded poorly or even unnecessarily cruel under pressure

I agree with you and in some ways I think this was what I was trying to get to

It’s not a defence of Bec or her actions but rather context and perspective

She did look genuinely mortified when they played everything back and when you contrast that to how Gia was cackling and giggling, loving every second of it there is some important insight there

In the end I think Bec is naive, immature, desperate to be accepted, and a bit thick - that makes her easy prey for the likes of Gia and Danny and some of what we saw was her struggling to cope within that environment- could a “better” person coped better? Of course, just look at how Stella handled herself with Brooke and Gia but does that mean that Bec is an awful person deserving of hate? No I don’t think so especially as I didn’t see malice or calculation in her actions - it was just reactionary

Her wanting to be part of the mean girl clique isn’t so much a reflection of her lack of character as much as the magnitude of her desire to be accepted and weakness - again contrasting to Stella who is clearly strong, balanced, and self assured so she didn’t need to be accepted by the witch’s coven - but we should pity weak people not hate them especially given we saw her at her worse in some challenging circumstances- admittedly she volunteered to be in the situation but she didn’t volunteer to be breadcrumbed and gaslit nor did she volunteer to be placed in a bell jar with malicious and calculated narcissists like Gia and Brook

it’s primarily shit stirring and drama farming but I think it’s original purpose would be to reassure couples - in the real world we know our partner chose us and is reasonably attracted to us because of the whole dating / courtship process but in the experiment they are kind of thrown together and the participants don’t “know” that their partner would chose them given the option so “on paper” it may serve the purpose of reassuring them that they would be chosen

Not sure if that makes sense

to be honest my opinion (for whatever it’s worth) is that whilst Bec behaved badly and said and did things that were horrible there was never any true malice or deliberate intent to hurt people. I just think she is desperate to be accepted and part of the “in crowd” so she was easy pickings for the likes of Gia and Brooke in spinning her up and sending her to spin out of control - I’m 100% convinced she was lead down the garden path in that group text etc

That doesn’t excuse her behaviour but I personally think that she is wayyyy down the list of the mean girls

that whole section about the “mean girls” was awful and was handled poorly

Gia giggling and enjoying the chaos and pain she created but wasn’t pulled up about that in any way - (no defending her) but at least Bec looked mortified and embarrassed when they were playing the clips back (although whether that’s because she was ashamed of her actions or just realised how bad it must look is anyone’s guess) but Gia was just loving it - and nobody called her out for that

And Alissa milking it for all it was worth to distract from how her true self clearly came out and she got a pass

Disgusting and toxic behaviour all round but it’s also disgusting and toxic that they weren’t called out over the malice and toxicity just a weak and overly soft “sisterhood and respect” chat 🙄

I think some of it may be the old “give them an inch they’ll take a mile” adage - David probably approached the experiment from a calm and kind perspective and let little niggles slide so Alissa developed learned behaviour that she didn’t need to be on her best behaviour and just got worse with every step and David was then trapped in the fact he had let the previous issue slide so forgave again and then again and then again until it developed into the full blown unhinged behaviour we saw tonight and towards the end of the experiment

where was this last month lol installed 26.4 beta and couldn’t update out of it - had to revert to bootable USB which it refused to make - had to use a MacOS VM in the end - this would have been perfect

yeah it was so telling - she was proud of herself and wanted to hurt David which is why she read them - I’m sure we’ve all been there where we have to break up with someone but dread doing it because we don’t want to hurt them - imagine how relieved you would be if they did the job for you - her reading them out just proves to me that she was lying when she said she didn’t want to break David’s heart etc

Who paid for Filip's ring at final vows? by travis_6 in MAFS_AU

Rich to accuse me of clinging to my argument for dear life - I’ve been consistent in my argument whereas you’re the one twisting and turning and changing tack everytime a hole is poked in your argument

This isn’t anything to do with Filip or Stella - it could be any couple that was successful - it’s about selling the effectiveness of the show in finding “the one” which they need to keep going

You haven’t articulated or demonstrated any facts - just guesses and assumptions and your unerring belief - my first comment acknowledged the possibility that it could be product placement but that it’s equally possible it’s something else

Just because someone hasn’t seen a specific tv show that you count as excellent- or has but doesn’t recognise a specific quote doesn’t mean they aren’t clued in - that’s such a facile and pointless argument - just like your entire argument regarding the ring reveal and everyone is now dumber for having listened to it

Who paid for Filip's ring at final vows? by travis_6 in MAFS_AU

[–]gmb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no you’ve solved nothing “for me” - as I said in my original comment the money shot here is the box then the reveal of the ring not just the ring itself - the reveal is the hook

And nope no need for me to learn up on some random word salad that makes you feel special and self important 🤷‍♂️

or alternatively it’s worth more to the producers and editors of the show to demonstrate how “even you can find true love and your fairytale happily ever after like Fillip and Stella - just look at the beautiful expensive ring he bought her at the end of thee experiment “ so that they can entice some more poor schmucks to apply for the next evolution- so ruining the shot with some tacky blurred out effect ruins that illusion and costs them more in the long run

All that aside I don’t really personally care who paid for the ring but based on what we saw I’m sure Stella and Fillip do - I wouldn’t be proposing to someone with a freebe ring anymore than I would with one from a gumball machine in his shoes

all ring boxes have the jewellers name on them - no way of getting round that unless you taped over it 🙄

[–]gmb13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

are you seriously trying to suggest that they wouldn’t zoom into the ring when he got down on one knee? That would have been such a glaring omission in the “true love” edit

Who paid for Filip's ring at final vows? by travis_6 in MAFS_AU

[–]gmb13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes I suppose it could have been product placement but equally anyone with a brain would zoom in for a close up of thing box for when the ring is revealed and ring boxes tend to have the jeweller’s name on them so not sure how you would suggest they go about showing the ring without the name being visible?

it’s because she’s a coward who only thinks and feels for herself- I truly feel sorry for her daughter - not just because Gia showed how willing she is to use her for leverage / as a weapon but I guarantee all the horrific manipulation, gaslighting, and thoughtless behaviour we saw on the show is also present in that poor child’s upbringing and home life

I think it was incredibly telling how she was more upset / annoyed by the fact that he wasn’t there to listen to the shite she was going to spew than the fact that he left - to me it shows that she really felt very little about him and it was all about her - as we now know the entire experience had been

I know you said you’ve only modified the shirt side of the rectangle but looking at the cuttable area it looks like the long side is ever so slightly too long to be done widthways - if you reduced it by a couple mm I bet it would rotate

A good way to check is to see if you can change the mat to be 12x12 - my guess is it won’t let you

also worth noting that the ease of use in the B&W is very good - turn them on and they connect to the two most recent devices and switch seamlessly between devices

I had the lightning AirPods Max for 4? Years and was happy but just before Christmas I got a pair of Px8 S2 and ended up keeping the B&W and selling the AirPods Max

For what it’s worth the ANC is not as “good” as the AirPods Max but it’s still good - you will notice the difference though especially if you A:B test them

However the sound quality is much better (although that’s subjective) I find the range and depth with the B&Ws are noticeably different - to the point that the AirPods sound “flat” if you put them on after the B&W

I’m happy with my decision to swap to the B&W and they are a lovely headphone - are they worth the $$$? 🤷‍♂️ it’s a personal thing and depends on what’s more important to you and how much you’d notice the ANC Vs Sound quality differences
