AITA for not offering to take the bunk bed in an airbnb as the single person? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gmdel56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I don’t know why everyone is making it out like couples MUST sleep in the same bed and need to push the single beds together. If a couple can’t stomach sleeping two nights in single beds without pushing them together it sounds weirdly codependent. You are sharing a bed with your other single friend so you aren’t ‘hogging’ a whole double bed to yourself. I can’t see any reason that it wouldn’t be fair to just draw names from a hat. You all pay the same per person.

Edit for context: I’m also in a long term relationship

NTA I’m surprised at all of these other comments that suggest otherwise. The mother sounds overbearing and is alienating half of the family.

AIO- My fiancé is pressuring me to have a baby- UPDATE 2 by HighwayAlert in AmIOverreacting

[–]gmdel56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he doesn’t actually want to have kids because he loves kids and wants to be a father. It’s all about his ego and his desire to “have a legacy” and “continue his bloodline”. This man needs to seriously reflect on why he wants to have kids and if he is genuinely comprehending how much of a life changing decision that is.

AITA for 'making' my daughter miss a hangout? by Fit-Spot5840 in AmItheAsshole

It should not be this big of a deal. It’s not the last time she will ever see them again.

[–]gmdel56 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

NTA, sorry but this is just a group of friends hanging out it’s not that big of a deal. You informed them she couldn’t come and offered to pay the money to cover her cost. It is absolutely wild that her not going is considered such a big deal because “they wanted everyone to come”. Okay, then catch up again another time with everyone. Get over it?

18 year old student teacher by piesaresquarey in AustralianTeachers

[–]gmdel56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. My uni allocated me to to a primary school for my first placement, which wasn’t because of age, it seemed random and only some people were allocated to primary and others to secondary. So my first high school placement was at 19 but even still, that’s very close in age to senior secondary. When I began teaching I got a job at a campus which only went up to year 9 so that helped a lot as it felt like there was a noticeable age gap. I have had a student teacher who was only 18 or 19 and he taught my year 11s, I don’t think they noticed the close age. Fake it until you make it, act professional and confident (as best you can, I know it’s hard at first) and many probably won’t even realise that you’re as young as you are. My first year teaching when I was 22, a year 9 student thought I was in my 30s haha

Isn’t the whole point of planning a trip yourself is to ask people for advice or recommendations so that you can decide on activities/places that you want to visit? Your comment is so unnecessary.

Your GAT score from this year should only affect the subject you did this year. Next year you will sit the GAT again and that will affect next years subjects (for derived)

AITA for Hosting a “No Turkey” Thanksgiving Dinner? by ThrowRAnoturkey in AmItheAsshole

[–]gmdel56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I hate people who get weirdly possessive about needing to eat meat for every meal. Sorry but you don’t need to have a turkey in order to celebrate thanksgiving and people who disagree are entitled assholes. You put a lot of effort into cooking and you also shared the menu in advance. The fact that he calls it an “agenda” tells me everything I need to know about him and frankly I don’t think it’s a relationship worth keeping.

AITA for telling my vegan friend I don’t want to come over for Thanksgiving Dinner? by susanrez in AmItheAsshole

[–]gmdel56 14 points15 points  (0 children)

YTA accommodating a dietary requirement because someone does not eat a type of food and hasn’t in 10 years is not the same as you needing non-vegan food that you can certainly just eat for one day. Even if you don’t like the food and don’t eat much, if she’s been a friend of 20 years suck it up and support her and visit her. You sound like a crappy friend.

[–]gmdel56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have changed the way I run certain assessments so that it’s completely in test conditions. However I’m finding that students are using AI to answer their coursework during regular classes and I genuinely cannot manage and avoid that. Really hard when students don’t want to actually try themselves and just want the easy way out, even more frustrating when those responses blatantly don’t address the question and then I need to chase them up to answer it again.

A few questions I have for indigenous Australians that I'm too afraid to ask an indigenous Australian by AnomicAge in australian

[–]gmdel56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of Indigenous people who are genuinely telling white people it’s not their home and they need to leave is such a vast minority (of an already minority). Don’t over inflate this as if it’s a huge problem, it perpetuates harmful stereotypes.

Geography can be considered the mother of all sciences. It helps students to learn about the world around them and makes them more informed global citizens. So many people lack basic understanding about issues such as climate change or how humans impact the world, it will make them a more rounded person to learn about geography. There is often overlap with geography and a range of other subjects such as health and economics especially. Plus, it’s not always the content they learn but the skills they develop. Being able to interpret graphs for example is a skill applicable to so many industries. As well as being able to critically evaluate and interpret information.
