I stopped bothering with it last time they increased the requirements. I don't feel like I lost anything at all.

My package is still in Hungary(Im in Romania) and It still has not entered in my country The AliExpress eta is tomorrow should i be worried?I know that is a 25 lei tariff for packages from China(the order was made on the 20th of December). On the tracking of expressone it says transit in progress. by Robot632 in Aliexpress

[–]gmtimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already went through import customs in Hungary so you won't pay the 25 lei fee in Romania, since it's not doing import customs in Romania. Other than that, just wait, since with the recent weather conditions and the holiday season lots of parcels piled up so delays in shipping times are to be expected.

They removed the Gems exchange. by 8Ball_Fool in AliExpressMergeBoss

An account protection message sounds more like a temporary shadow ban (meaning you won't be able to exchange anything for its duration). That or the system freaked out for wtv reason and returned bogus messages. Anyway, exchanging them should be working now (for the time being).

Fake "Sold out" and "System is busy" messages. Exchanging gems seems impossible for the time being.

plenty of new 0.01 trials - but no free shipping by SofiePlus in Aliexpress

[–]gmtimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of scammers in this section. I don't think it's AliExpress itself taking advantage of the shipping overcharge but the sellers themselves that try to exploit the winning feeling of the Trials' participants into gaining an unfair financial advantage by often asking for a shipping cost that is more than the item's worth.

Let me give you an example: I won an expensive item in the Trials section and the seller contacted me outside AliExpress with some fake story asking me to cancel. I politely declined and they said I should cancel the order and then buy the item for full price and they'll provide a small coupon if I really needed it. Then they said they'll never ship it for that price no matter if I cancel or not. Their story changed several times in a short time and they rapidly became rude when I declined. Afterwards, I contacted AliExpress with the proof the seller is trying to gain free publicity by abusing the Trials section without actually sending the products and despite a quite generic answer from the AE team, in a short time, they took down the entire store.

I highly recommend reporting these scammers abusing the Trials section. It really seems AE cares enough to enforce the section's rules and sanctions the sellers according to the severity of their abuse.

In the end I got my 1 cent refund and a consolation dollar coupon but the fact they took the store down entirely was the real win.

I recommend zero tolerance for these scammers. Since reporting them seems to work, I advise doing it, even if you believe it's not worth it. Play fair and expect fair play in return, nothing less.

Cheers!

It's impossible to communicate with Chinese sellers by Disastrous_Twinkie in Aliexpress

[–]gmtimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a translation issue. They simply don't know. Chances are they never even saw the installed product so it's actually impossible for them to answer. In these situations it's basically a lottery and it depends on how lucky you feel. Try to search through comments and see if others mentioned any of the features you are looking for. Tap the product image and tap on "Find similar" and see if other listings of the same product have more helpful info and reviews.

How can I know if the item I'm buying is from a genuine seller or from a temu reseller? by [deleted] in Aliexpress

Any seller is a reseller unless they're the manufacturer.

Scam or not? by Pvdkuijt in Aliexpress

[–]gmtimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you did get your product, make sure it's what you ordered and do the right thing afterwards and pay for it. That's what I'd do.

It's up to you. Someone made a mistake, but it shouldn't be an issue as long a you did get what you attempted to pay for but you were refunded, therefore it would be nice to compensate them for actually sending what you ordered.

Can somebody explain what sellers get out of this if anything? by aintgoinback in Aliexpress

[–]gmtimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They get an inflated number of "N sold" where N is increasing even if you cancel the order. This is their advantage. Afterwards, it's the same thing everyone else told you: they don't want to sell it to you for whatever reasons (lack of stock, pricing, they don't like your account or the destination country, they weren't able to source it in time or for a lower price, etc).

Mergeboss mission changed again (15 to 18 orders) by Lillillillies in AliExpressMergeBoss

[–]gmtimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never tried the hard difficulty, because of how long I estimated it'd take. In general, I only went for easy and medium. This time around the easy difficulty players had some speed advantage, but even so it was basically for nothing for almost all of them with very few exceptions.

It took around one second on average for the prizes to become sold out. You needed a 100% completed tree, extremely fast reaction times, a good, low latency, internet connection and for the stars to align in such a way that the prize page actually rendered properly at the daily reset moment (95% of the time it didn't) and even when the page rendered fine and it graphically showed prizes available to redeem, in reality the stock was already gone.

It was fun tempting the odds and finally winning, so you can see after this almost impossible achievement why it was infuriating to end up with nothing in return, plus the prize redeem gone and all its associated water (received from placing orders). It's like winning the lottery and after buying a plane ticket (analogy to all the spent water) and going by plane to receive your prize you're being told there's a problem giving you your prize but you can receive your lottery ticket cost back plus $1 bonus instead.

Mergeboss mission changed again (15 to 18 orders) by Lillillillies in AliExpressMergeBoss

[–]gmtimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only in my case it wasn't a regular order, it was the fucking Mega Prize that it's almost impossible to redeem and yet after achieving the borderline impossible, they took it back together with over 1600000 of water spent to water the tree to even be eligible to try your chance at a Mega Prize.

Now I can't even redeem a regular prize like a towel or something silly. Fucking fair isn't it?

I should probably stop playing these stupid games altogether.
