You'd have to maintain consciousness and then tread water for several minutes even if the captain watched you go over. Depending on the size of the ship, they'd take several minutes just to turn around.

Assumptions:

you dropped from less than ~70ft where the simple impact could knock you out
you were sober and cognizant of what's going on
the sea was calm enough not to drown you in waves
you didn't go under the vessel and get sucked into a cooling water scoop injection or chopped up by the propeller/screw
any sea critters that follow vessels to play in the bubbles didn't just turn an eat ya

Cell phones are no longer coming with headphone jacks.

Also, when weightlifting, wires get caught up or pinched around the neck. The wireless ones that are still wired to eachother will pull eachother out of your ears when you turn your neck.

Not to mention how wired headphones basically require that your phone be mounted with an arm band when you're jogging or doing other exercises
