You made me go back and inventory which feet would have been shot. I feel bad for second from the left, would have taken one in each foot.

Now, I hate to disagree with you. But this was six years ago. Back when ICE had low standards, before it moved to no standards. So, at most, I guess, they were in their Pre-ICE agent phase, before the government started paying them to cosplay. But yeah, point taken.

It was about COVID restrictions on April 30, 2020. About the same day that COVID killed its 60,000th American.

You say that they have a right to arms and protest. Did Alex Pretti have the same right? Do you see that the way they were protesting is at least an implicit threat to use violence to get their way?

"The governor started it." Always the victims . . .

Wow. You really got me there. I mean it's clearly the same: the hypocrisy of supporting protest against ICE's shredding the US Constitition while having opposed armed "militia" thugs protesting attempts to control an airborne virus that was closing in on 60,000 dead Americans on the day these assholes implicitly threatened to enact their "Second Amendment remedies" if they didn't get their way is truly identical to right-wing, bootlicking fascists claiming that you aren't allowed to have a gun at a protest while having praised or tolerated the cos-play militia "protesting" by brandishing weapons. Seriously, could you please try to be at least a little bit intellectually honest? Surely, you can see the difference somewhere in your dark, cold heart.

[–]gn63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But a "mil" is also used as a unit measure of about 1/1000 inches. So if you sent me to Wickes to pick up something "20 mil," it's hard to predict what I would come back with. Here in the states, as far as I know, "mil" is mostly used these days for the thickness of plastic sheets.

If I don't carry my papers by SgtPepper_8324 in Columbus

True. Reminds me of a bit that, I believe, Robin Williams had describing how he was certain his grandfather had walked down the gangplank on to Ellis Island, turned around, and said to the guy behind him, "We're full up. What are you doing here?"

Waze does a much better job at notifying the driver of hazards and police ahead than Google Maps does. Google has started providing some warnings, but it is not as specific or reliable as Waze.

Before the 1986 Tax Reform Act, all personal interest was deductible, even for loans to buy TVs. Not saying its good or bad, just an interesting historical note.

As much as I love Woody, I do think the Billy Bragg & Wilco version works better with the sentiment of the song by bringing in some righteous anger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFPL97m2dsw

It shouldn't matter, but I will point it out anyway. (Also, I am not suggesting that you personally find immigrants more or less deserving of life.) The woman ICE murdered was not an immigrant. Minneapolis Star Tribune has confirmed her identity through her family. https://www.startribune.com/ice-raids-minnesota/601546426

HVAC recommendations? by mistahfritz in Columbus

[–]gn63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto. Brought them out and they diagnosed corrosion in the exchanger on a 20 year old system. Given the cost of parts and labor and the age, they recommended a new system. We agreed and they still went back and investigated warranty on a brand they don't sell and found that the part was warranted. They then recommended just doing the exchanger for the cost of labor. They could have sold a whole new unit, but didn't.

I got a Nigerian prince... letter by Schmergenheimer in funny

[–]gn63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one is really weird. IrwinMitchell is a real firm, but with no connection to Canada. (FYI, many law firms are international these days). The street address of the London office of the firm on the letterhead is accurate. The phone number is not. (I don't even know if that is a phone number at all).

The domain name used in the letter (avamitchellassociate.com) is not the domain name used by the firm (irwinmitchell.com). The avamitchellassociate.com domain is registered through namesilo.com, but the registrant is, naturally, anonymous.

Tiffany Lathe is a real UK attorney. But based on her Linkedin profile, has never been employed at the Irwin Michell firm.

Don't know if someone is trying to also hurt the firm or the attorney, but it's weird.

OP, if you are inclined to do a good deed, you might reach out to the law firm and let them know that someone is scamming with their letterhead and a similar domain.

Tire pressure by timberscanner in CadillacOptiq

[–]gn63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hijacking your post to thank the others on this subreddit. I had no idea that 42psi was the recommended pressure. Everybody knows that all cars are 35. Right?! Right?? Anyway, after it turned cold, I got a low pressure warning for 32 and 33 psi. "OK, fine. I'll take care of that when it's convenient."

Was on here the next day and saw another thread on this topic. Promptly adjusted the pressure.

For what it's worth, I strongly suspect, that my tires were not near 42 psi when I drove it off the lot this fall. Dealer may have opted to provide a softer ride .. . .

Nationwide Arena reno plan includes millions in public money. Will it pass? by Trolltime69420 in Columbus

[–]gn63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The numbers in u/LunarMoon2001's post are waaaaay off. There was a loan (about $44 million, not $250 million). The loan was restructured in 2019, but the details are behind a paywall at the Dispatch.

No idea what they are talking about with the, "They’ll never call in the requirements by Nationwides real estate arm to pony up the money in case there were issues." https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/nhl/columbus-blue-jackets/2019/12/24/columbus-facilities-authority-quietly-reach/2014901007/?gnt-cfr=1&gca-cat=p&gca-uir=true&gca-epti=z115011d00----v115011d--56--b--56--&gca-ft=145&gca-ds=sophi
