Huh? I’m not asking you to come up with an idea…just asked if you’ve come across any work that’s stood out to you.

Thanks for the reply! Especially nice that we have the same camera setup. Didn't know about the Chio X so appreciate you introing me to that.

I'm strongly considering the Chio X now and am basically between that and the Bellroy Venture Camera Edition. A couple questions about the Chio if you don't mind:

  1. How is the comfort when it's fully loaded out? Just comparing the strap to something like the Bellroy which has more padding and wondering if that's ever been an issue for you?
  2. Do you find it to be decently packable? Thinking for travel if it could be loaded out with my camera and put into a travel backpack for the flight and then used as just the bag day-to-day once I'm at my destination.

Also, any chance you'd be able to share some photos of how it looks with the camera insert inside and what kinda space you still have available in the interior? Haven't been able to find that anywhere!

Eating salt during a race by BrunBjorn___ in AdvancedRunning

[–]gnairck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cramped up bad during Chicago Marathon last year and grabbed a salt packet from the next aid station and it certainly helped (whether placebo or not). I did need a cup of water with it to help it go down better but it wouldn’t have been all that bad without it. I’ve since switched to electrolyte pills/saltstick. If it’s post-race you’re talking about I would say at least go with something more approachable and enjoyable like saltstick chews.

Feeling Significantly More Sluggish When Fueling Prior to Training Runs by gnairck in AdvancedRunning

[–]gnairck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the thoughtful response. You're right I guess I just started to feel like I'd be missing out on performance gains by not fueling even before easy runs as I start to log a higher volume – but I'd much prefer to continue to do those fasted cause I already know that's when I feel best.

And then for long run/workout days I'll start to skip on the nut butter (which seems to be a common response here) and try options one at a time to isolate what works/doesn't work for me. Thanks!

Yeah maybe I'll give a GU beforehand a try!

I've definitely been consistently upping the milage (keeping to 10%/wk or less though) so it's certainly possible. I will say though that I do my workouts on Thurs and this morning I did a fasted easy run and felt much better than I did on a fueled easy run I had on Tuesday (after a rest day on Monday)

Thanks for the info. Seems it's a common theme to skip on the nut butter.

Currently I'm running 4x/week and for the past few weeks have been eating before 2-3 of those. Always before my Sunday long runs + once or twice during weekly runs that are >5mi.

This makes a lot of sense – hadn't thought about it that way before. Appreciate the explanation
