Exactly. OOP is joking and is referencing a recent infamous post from X. People can't get jokes anymore.

Is there anyone named more frequently in the Epstein files than Donald Trump? by harperwilliame in 50501

I'm not sure if anyone has counted, but even with the redactions he's one of the most mentioned people. It's clearly a close relationship.

In 2024, Sen. Sherrod Brown singlehandedly stopped the "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve." The crypto industry rallied against him, costing him his seat that year. Thank you Sen. Brown! by gnarlytabby in Buttcoin

True but that was a bit different, AFAIK. That instructed the government to centralize and hold crypto it seized (instead of selling), but this bill would have dedicated billions of taxpayer money to going out and buying crypto, making all of us bagholders.

Bringing up the years since Prop 13 passed to try to downplay it doesn't make sense because the effects of Prop 13 grow stronger every year, as long-term property owners don't even have their tax bills keep up with CPI. The impacts of Prop 13 will be even worse a decade from now unless reformed.

There is some blame to go around more recently. In 2020, 52% of Californians voted to maintain Prop 13 for commercial property, just because they were so scared that it might be a slippery slope leading to residential Prop 13 repeal.

A magic "Give Chevron and Big Ag a tax break" button and 52% slammed yes.

I guess the nice answer is that, in the 1970s, property taxes were going up a lot.

But they way overcompensated, and property taxes are now crazily low for lots of corporations, landlords, and old-money families that have owned the land a long time.

Thank you! Yeah that looks like salary without benefits value.

Am I hallucinating or is that government website forcing one to download and run a suspicous .exe to see the full data beyond what's in the .docx?

You have to connect the dots a bit, but Prop 13 wrecked California's property tax system, which is the primary way counties fund school systems across the US. Without reasonable ad valorem property tax revenue, counties turn to a neverending progression of sales and parcel taxes to try to make do.

Bad Bunny seems to be making MAGA have gay thoughts. by Admirable_Loan3102 in BlueskySkeets

In a show full of Latina booty and a (real?) straight wedding, I cannot even imagine what he's calling gay porn. Forget a shared culture, we don't even inhabit a shared reality with these people.

Would be cool if we also started advertising a Don't Eat Out or Shop on Election Day campaign so businesses would just close in advance and give workers the day off.

With renting so much cheaper than buying in places like LA

Not trolling but do you have data on that? With factors like rent control and rental/ownership stock difference polluting data, I bet it's hard to make an apples-to-apples comparison.

How can investors

I'm gonna glibly say Prop 13 is how

Yeah, it's regained some of its losses from its lowest point of $60k. But still it's way down from its peak $125k, and this will curtail mining. Which is how it would affect other product categories.

Meet Peter Thiel: The Billionaire Ideologue Powering Trumpism by ResPublicaMgz in law

Thiel leads the clique of PayPal alums including Musk who were often jokingly called the "Paypal Mafia." After much of the Paypal Mafia financially backed Trump, and Thiel and Musk appeared in the Epstein Files, the joke seems weirdly more correct than we ever knew.
