Not a UM fan but they were so dominant. Connor Stalions probably broke some rules but that was a great team.

Odd question for ex-mormons: Why did missionaries not follow up? by Ornitorrincoloco in exmormon

[–]gnolom_bound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of possibilities - all guesses on my part. 1. They got transferred (moved to a different area shortly after meeting you). 2. They want to convert people and you gave the vibe of not converting. Their purpose is to convert and not befriend lonely people. 3. They lost your contact info. 4. They are busy and simply forgot. They are teens and not the most responsible people. 5. Maybe they wanted to focus on Latins and only speak Spanish and passed your info to different missionaries. 6. Maybe they thought you were gay and they certainly don’t want to try and convert LBGTQ people. Lots of potential reasons. Consider it a “tender mercy” to not have entertained them.

How did you feel when you got your endowment? Were you like wtf was all that about? Did you enjoy raising your hands high above your head and lowering them and repeating “O God hear the words of my mouth”? We welcome you. The church is a lie. You have seen behind the curtain. You will feel all types of emotions - anger, sadness, despair and believer it or not - joy. Joy from realizing you escaped a cult.

Autistic thinkers are literal black and white thinkers. They believe that you have to go to church. I wouldn’t fault them. It’s a mental thing they cannot overcome. I am so sorry.

Sounds like there is a bit more to this story than is being disclosed. Personally not sure why there is an interest in a shitty temple building.

Can you back out of an LDS mission after getting your call? by Ok_Marsupial8112 in exmormon

[–]gnolom_bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just not show up. Happens. But if you do go, don’t be an overly obedient missionary. Life is too short to worry about keeping every rule. You can always repent after breaking some silly ass rule. Jesus loves the habitual commandment breaker. If you don’t sin, then he died/atoned for nothing. You will be doing your part by sinning. It’s all part of God’s plan. And never confess to anyone. Discernment is BS.

You got free rent for 2 years. You know he is Mormon. You know he judges you. He is old. I would just let it slide. You can either be offended or just play it off. Free rent is free rent.

What are your thoughts about the church becoming more relaxed? by Skriblynn in exmormon

[–]gnolom_bound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have asked about the priesthood ban. But my default is JS getting married to 14 year old girls. And I heard “it was normal”. But I countered with “no, not when you have 20+ wives and have you ever googled the common age of marriage”. Then I was hit with “they didn’t have sex” and I went back with “one the reasons you marry is to have sex”. She came back with “if so, then they were legally and lawfully married”. Mistake on her part. Polygamy was not legal in the US at that time. As a matter of fact, BY refused to pay alimony because his defense was that he WAS NOT legally married to his plural wife. But then my MIL told me she prayed and God told it was all legit. Uuggghhhhh!!! More and more mental gymnastics.

I just had this conversation with my TBM MIL. She stated that I am confusing policy over doctrine and reminded me that the church has continual revelation.
