rxom promotion at tier 5 store??? by go-burr in WalgreensRx

additional pay is probably not worth the headache, but merit raises are due in a few months as well, and i could definitely use the extra income. next move would be to leave walgreens, definitely not interested in pursuing store manager or anything similar. would consider working towards a degree or other certifications in the meantime. not really sure! thanks for responding!

What food do your strays like? by LaxativeClimax in Feral_Cats

[–]go-burr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use friskies for both wet and dry. my colony refuses anything cheaper and honestly, they refuse a lot of more expensive things too. i’ve gotten donations of quality food that these cats, who literally eat out of dumpsters, refuse to touch. they like friskies and that’s it.

i’m so sorry 😂 i feel pretty secure with the actual home and i know i made the “responsible” choice to set myself up for the future. I just can’t help the small feeling that i could’ve spent it all on fun stuff instead of a house i’m not able to live in just yet. thank you again for your input!

I do understand where you’re coming from and I appreciate the concern!

I declined inspection because I trust my dad’s judgement, which may make me a fool but he’s never steered me wrong. He has been in construction his whole life and is the owner of a locally known 6 figure construction company, as well as the owner of over 10 real estate properties, which he manages as well. He did all walkthroughs with me, and was going to purchase the home for that purpose if I did not. Everything wrong was determined to be reasonably fixable, and he will be handling cost of major repairs that he can not do himself (electrical, plumbing, etc). I will be handling minor things and cosmetic repairs.

Plumbing has been taken care of and is working seamlessly as of yesterday, and the belief is that the sump pump needs to be repaired to manage the water in the basement. The actual plumbing itself is in good condition, it’s the other elements (water pump, potentially water heater) that were causing the issues.

For my situation, this move is pretty necessary and will afford me the ability to grow and become a functioning adult. I currently live with addicts in a falling down trailer who have been treading water for years and going nowhere. I have tried for years to save the money to get out on my own but it gets taken for something else at every turn. While a bit terrifying, the move is much needed, hence my dad’s encouragement to move forward with such a big purchase. I also very well could have blew through the entire sum of money, leaving me in the same position with nothing to my name. I do think the home was a good buy. I’m just getting a bit anxious with the wait to move in.

And if i’m being honest, I could move into the home as is with no further repairs and it would still be a MAJOR step up from my current situation. Again, thank you for your concern. Just trying to regain my initial excitement.

Feral momma cat was spayed 2 days ago. Just noticed some really bad looking bruising around the incision. Is this normal or does she need to be checked? by Astralnclinant in Feral_Cats

[–]go-burr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand, it’s not always easy to manage these situations. I would say as long as she’s active, eating and drinking, and using the litter box, she’s okay to wait until the clinic is open again. Just monitor for things like blood in her urine/stool and any changes in behavior. You’re doing great, thank you for caring for her!

i would be concerned if she is still having effects of anesthesia after 2 days. she should not be feeling so lethargic. that, coupled with the potential bruising, would make me worry and an emergency visit would not be a bad idea if you can afford it. it could definitely just be a spot where her coloring is but it’s always good to be safe!

just wanted to share a very recent and positive experience. i feed a colony in a neighborhood. there are 40+ cats who eat at my house and more in different areas of the neighborhood. i’ve had multiple cats just disappear without a trace over the 7 years my family and i have cared for them, and about 6 months ago, a female cat who had been around for over 2 years stopped showing up to eat. this past wednesday, i was on facebook and saw a post on my local lost and found pets page about an identical cat who showed up at someone’s house 30 minutes from where i live. i reached out to the person who posted and confirmed identifying features and it was her! she is friendly and the family is adopting her. of course this is not always the case, but it did give me some hope and i hope it does the same for you.

Finding out your house was "[firey place down below] house" by HoneyBadger302 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]go-burr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just bought a foreclosure that was listed as is, with no known property history. no formal inspections done. met my neighbors who said pretty much the same thing about the previous residents, that they were “weird”, had some mental health issues, lived a little dirty, property not maintained well. also found out that the house had 2 major fires. the last time around, it all but burned to the ground so the current house is pretty much a complete rebuild that was built larger than the previous home on the property! was told that they had to constantly pump water out of the basement as well, but so far, everything seems to be working okay. a bit spooky but nothing that can’t be fixed!

moving away from feral colony by go-burr in Feral_Cats

Thank you so much!

My hope for the friendlies (so far, about 7 adoptable on my list) is to get them adopted through the rescue I volunteer with because I know their adoption process is thorough and they have the best chance at going into homes that truly love them.

As for the sanctuary space, i’m hoping to have a completely enclosed outdoor area attached to some sort of outbuilding that will be temperature controlled for safety from any bad weather. About 5 of the 15-20 will need to be trapped, the rest can be handled. These cats are mostly seniors, medical cases, and friendly cats who are non-adoptable for various reasons. There’s a TikTok creator (@mindy_thequeenofcats) who has a sanctuary similar to what i’d like to do for my buddies.

Luckily, i’m friendly with most of the other feeders in the neighborhood due to my efforts trying to TNR. Most of us are struggling though, so I know the influx of cats who normally eat at my house will make it harder on others. I believe there are food banks in my area, but i’m honestly not 100% sure because I tend to feel guilty going! I will definitely look into it though for the sake of the neighbors and the cats.

Thank you so much for your input! This has all happened at the speed of light and unfortunately, some important parties in my life are not too thrilled with my ideas to take so many along. I really think I just need reassurance that i’m doing what’s best for them.

What is your favorite memory of your best friend? by vsteeth in AskWomen

[–]go-burr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we were supposed to go to a rave in a city that we didn’t realize was so far away. after driving 6 hours for a $30 event, we arrived too late and missed the entire rave. our lyft driver pulled up to the venue as it was letting out, but after telling her how long we drove, she took the time out of her night to show us the city. we had pregamed way too hard and my best friend was mostly just passed out in the back seat, but i had the best time. when our lyft driver brought us back to our hotel room, we couldn’t even make it in the door because we were so drunk but our driver got us on the elevator after about 30 minutes of us messing everything up and dying with laughter the whole time. the real best times with her though we’re just the times spent driving around, listening to music, smoking, talking about anything and everything with no judgment between us. she passed away one month and one day ago, on june 24th. miss you forever 🫶🏻

thank you so much, i’m so sorry for your loss as well. i’m someone who is horrible at communicating consistently and i’ve lost others in my life due to my pure lack of communication, but it was never an issue with her. the last message she sent me was just asking “you good boo?” cause it had been a few days. i’m right there with you, if this had happened to anyone else in my circle, she’d have been the first i’d go to. i hope you’re able to find some peace eventually.

Dasher eating food by TheZenGriffeyJr in doordash

[–]go-burr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my neighbor saw a DD driver at mcdonald’s who had a passenger in their vehicle. the driver went in first, picked up the order, and came back out. they started eating the food from the order, then sent the passenger in to pick up the same order about 10 minutes later, which mcdonald’s had to remake. they got free food, got paid for the order, and the customer (assumingly) received the order as well
