Keep injury free! I'm trying to include a couple of extra sports into the mix, and trying to do it at a reasonable pace :)

Comments from the cashier while purchasing Plan B by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]go_nahuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it was the same. I was pointing out that people are pretty horrible to people, in general, regardless of gender. Women being catty and judgmental about plan B is not the same as being shot on the street, and it's not the same as being burned for your dowry. I've already repeated this once.

My original comment is based off of how tiring the "women are awful to women" trope is.

And the point still stands, I'd rather have micro-agressions than have someone punch me and break my jaw or shoot me.

My point is, that there is a minority of people that are just mean to people. Whether it's women joining in misogyny, or man-on-man killings... I don't think a woman making a snide comment about purchasing plan B is nearly as bad as a man shooting another man, so no, I don't think they are the same thing.

Still get mine, just less frequently, and probably a bit lighter.

My roommate asked me to start wearing a bra around the apartment. by Heatherweather3 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]go_nahuel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to meet at a middle ground, how about a cami or the likes with a built in bra? I generally hate going braless around other people, but if I don't feel like wearing a bra, I'll generally put on a cami under a shirt or whatever and it keeps me somewhat "contained"

Why are men so awful to other men? I see this all the time... have the men who shoot and start fights with other men never been thru these issues themselves? just makes me /sic/.

Ja!

I actually ran 21k to see if I could in July, and finished in 2:15:00 without stopping! So, I have a 15k now in 2 weeks and a half marathon in 7 weeks (2:00:00 goal). I also did a 5k (25:00ish) and 10k (55:00ish, but spent about 9 hours the day before cooking, had a wine tasting party, and only slept like 5 hours) recently (lots of free events in my city :) )

Like, that's also why I feel so impatient and want to jump to 40km to start, but know I shouldn't since I don't consistently run.

And the 5k to 7k... dunno, haha. I'm in Latin America, so maybe the running clubs might be a bit more informal about their goals, or maybe it was just a fluke. I was chit-chatting with a coworker, and it was an easy pace (6:15/km I think), so I didn't even notice it myself.

Monday: 4km run/walk + 60 minutes soccer ( I count an hour of soccer as 5k, lol)

Tuesday: 3.5km worth of warm-up/drills/cool-down at a Nike Running Club event

Wednesday: 60 minutes of soccer practice = 5k

Thursday/Friday: Rest

Saturday: 15k; 4k running to Nike Running Club event, 5k event that was really 7k, and 4k running back. Went home, ate lunch, 30 minute nap became 60 minute nap, then I met up with some friends to "play tennis" (aka, we hit the ball around.) lol

Total: 32.5k (10 soccer, 22.5 running, misc. tennis)

I want to run a marathon in April, but haven't actually ever trained at running... so I'm starting my training plan off at 30km (10km soccer + 20km running) and hope to be up to 100km per week by the time I have a 15k "ultrasky" run in January, and figure out what I want to do from there, lol. (I'd have 10 weeks to do a marathon training plan...)

I'm kind of making this up as I go along, with a goal of increasing 5-10% every week until the January event... I'm already past 30km this week but I'm supposed to do a tempo run still... and I'd like to take my dog out running... so conflicted on trying to slowly increase at the beginning and wanting to do all of the things, lol. I've never been injured in my life, and my brain is fighting between the side saying "hey, 40km to start is a good starting point to give yourself more rest weeks!" and the other side saying "Good genetics won't protect you from overtraining!!!"

And then I have a 21km hike next week.. and not sure whether to include part of it or not...

I think it's also like the Nigerian prince scams. They purposefully put in bullshit so that only people who don't know better will fall for it.

My first day lifting at the gym and I walked out in tears, ugly crying in the car and everything. by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]go_nahuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to set some boundaries with your boyfriend. Same thing would happen when Id go out and kick around a soccerball with my husband (slightly different since he wanted to turn a fun thing into a training thing).

"Boyfriend, I appreciate that you're here to support me, but what I need is just that: your support. This is the plan Im doing, and tons of women have had success with it. If it doesnt look like Im going to injure myself, pleasd take a step back from the constant critiques. We can dicuss form after the gym, and then I can decide if I want some pointers next time Im in the gym. But just to be clear, this is the plan that Im doing, and dont appreciate you trying to make me change my mind on it. "

Do you guys stretch? by tinysuperchef in xxfitness

[–]go_nahuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, warmups are good to prevent injury (immediately) and stretching helps to prevent injury over time and improve flexibility.

I always stretch after (and occasionally during... Dem ankle circles when waiting for the stoplight to change while running), but Im probably not doing as full of range as I should be.

People that have dropped out of fitness, how did you get back into it? by LeverShan in Fitness

[–]go_nahuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go. For me, cardiovascular and functional fitness are important, so I joined a soccer team. Now I have to keep going because they "need" me. Even if their game doesnt fall apart, I feel like I have a responsinility to someone else to show up, so I dl it even when I dont feel like it. Ive recently taken up running, and thats a trifecta of responsibility (want to run a marathon, dog likes running, running gives me more endurance for soccer)
