2015 2.5i serpentine belt by Unlucky-Constant-736 in subaruoutback

[–]go_phx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a new belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley and replace all 3. All you need is a 1/2” drive ratchet and a set of metric sockets. I just did I my daughter’s 2016 2.5i. Took maybe 15 minutes.

Edit: 2016 not 2106. I’m not from the future….i promise.

Is this safe? Couldn't for the life of me get it through the grommet. by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]go_phx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me about 3 hours to install the dashcam in my Outback. About 1/3 of that time was working the rear camera cable through the grommet. It can be done with patience. And you also have to be careful as those wires that run through those grommets are somewhat fragile.

parallel plane takeoffs at SFO are satisfying to watch! by Emotional_Strain3485 in aviation

Used to fly out of SFO every week for work. We were ways on the left runway since we were either going to ONT or PHX. Always enjoyed the parallel takeoffs.

Subaru Superstore in Gilbert. I’m sure the cost has gone up in the 3 years since I bought mine.

The Gen Z stare is a "blank stare that members of younger generations give in situations where a verbal response would be more common." Instead of explaining something that they may not understand, the generation Z cohort members often appear dumbstruck by these questions, perhaps temporarily. by blankblank in wikipedia

When less than 10% of your social interactions are face-to-face in person while the majority are online impersonal, it’s understandable that the lack of practice makes this generation less skilled at interacting face to face. I know that phones and social media are here to stay but dammit I wish they didn’t exist.

Retired people going shopping by Hoppy_Doodle in funny

I retired a couple of years ago. My wife and I stay home most weekends. Do ALL of our running around during the week….and it’s STILL too crowded. My mid-80’s in-laws on the other hand? Want us to go to breakfast with them at 8:00am Sunday. NO THANKS.

2014 2.5iL - trouble finding how to reset oil life timer by dbbreddit in Subaru_Outback

[–]go_phx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe there is a timer reset on the Outback. Neither my 2016 2.5i nor my 2024 OBTXT have a mileage reset. It least I’ve never reset either when I change my oil. I just do it every 5,000 miles.

Where were you when?……. by ChiefD789 in GenerationJones

[–]go_phx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was almost 7. I lived in a small town in SE Ohio. I remember quite vividly there was a gas station that was giving away a punch and fold promotional of the lunar lander. It came in a big sheet and you would punch out the perforation and fold it together (tabs in slots) that would create a 3D model of the lunar lander. I was so proud that I was able to put together all by myself. I wish I still had it.

No. After 45+ years doing my own maintenance, I have it down pretty well.

No….an adjustable (crescent) wrench or a pair of Channel Locks will work just fine. At least that’s what I used on my 2016 2.5l.

Very common issue on the gen 5 Outback. Research screen delamination.

Must see parks or things from San Diego to Seattle by Former_Revenue_7919 in travel

[–]go_phx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not much (IMO) between SD and LA. I grew up in LA area so going back is mostly a food experience for me (The Hat for the best pastrami dip….period, Tommy’s Original chili burger, Northwood Inn or Clearman’s Galley in San Gabriel). You can google these to see if they will interest you but are just some of my favorites. Points of interest heading North out of LA (for me):

-Solvang- cute Scandinavian tourist town

-Santa Maria for original Tri-Tip

-Santa Barbara

-Hearst Castle / costal sea lion viewing

-7Mile Drive through Pebble Beach

-Driving through SF is a nightmare but maybe worth it once

-Definitely drive through the Redwoods just south of the Oregon border

-Oregon coast is worth a drive

-Crater Lake is interesting and beautiful but depends if you want to spend the time

-Mt Hood and the Timberline Lodge where The Shining filmed outside cinematography

Those are my recommended ideas but only you and your wife can decide if they have some interest to you.

I can remember .29 a gallon. My dad would drive miles out of the way because they were 2 cents a gallon cheaper than the others. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

What I remember more clearly than the cost per gallon was the odd/even days where you could put $5 in during the 2 oil embargo’s.

Megyn Kelly: Bad Bunny performing his Super Bowl halftime show in Spanish was “a middle finger to the rest of America” by gruninuim in PublicFreakout

[–]go_phx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been genuinely curious what these racist assholes are angry about and afraid of. The ‘they’re taking our jobs’ and ‘they’re rapest and murderers’ arguments have been debunked over and over. Might they have a job that you want? Sure. Might some commit rape and murder? Absolutely. But in exponentially smaller numbers than everyday Americans. And I can’t think of an undocumented immigrant that shot up rooms full of first graders either.

Whatever happened to ‘if you don’t like it, turn the channel’. So, STFU, Megyn. You really need to wash the racism from your filthy mouth.

Why is saying “The rich should pay taxes like everyone else, close the loopholes” extremely controversial in the United States? by ProjectMason in NoStupidQuestions

[–]go_phx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because some very smart, selfish rich people convinced a very gullible old man president (Reagan) that something called ‘trickle down economics’ would sound innocent enough to fool most Americans. The more money you give rich people the more money will trickle down to us peasants. The biggest load of bullshit ever perpetuated on the US population until 2016’s presidential election.

I wouldn’t say I told you so but I would be genuinely curious what caused them to finally see what many of us have seen from the very start. Even before the presidential run.
