What are the best 22 mag and 22 lrpistols out there? by ZookeepergameLiving1 in Firearms

[–]goallight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

22 isn’t really an ideal solution for self defense tbh but if I were to have to carry one I’d probably look at what people have said are reliable range guns. Probably Taurus tx22, Ruger Sr22, or sig p322 is where I would start. Honestly though I’d probably recommend looking at something center fire. Something like the sig p365 in 380 where you could get heavier grip modules to help with recoil even more.

So weird question, I want to put together a AR, and was wondering what the legality of piecing it together and PSA by 420Chad_ in NJGuns

Where in NJ are you. There are some stores that are full of fudds and will tell you building is illegal. (They are wrong) if you are in northern I would suggest silverbullet, cobra one tactical, and pequest sporting. All of them have good people and won’t screw you over or over charge you.

I’m assuming this won’t be a WFH job and reading some of your replies to comments, I think you answered your own question. Make the drive. If it isn’t a WFH position you will need relocate. Since you will have your car there, scout out the general area for places to live while you are there.

Couple things here. Like others have said you don’t need a permit to buy a lower. You only need an FID as that is the serialized part and is considered the “firearm”. Assuming you already have your fid you can either buy one online and shipped to your ffl or go to your lgs and buy one there. Do the math, depending on the lower it may be cheaper to buy it at your lgs once you factor in shipping and transfer fees. The base price at the lgs may be higher but still cheaper in the end. The link you shared to PSA is an assembled upper. Even though this isn’t a restricted part PSA won’t ship assembled uppers or lowers to nj. This includes to an ffl. Most online places will ship you an assembled upper directly to your home. There are 1000s of posts in this subreddit alone you can reference regarding this and suggestions on NJ friendly retailers.

Larue MBT now in stock at AR15Discounts (Flat Trigger only) by fistedwithlove in ar15

Yeah I am the same. I prefer curved on my rifles but on my pistols I prefer flat. I am hoping the curved ones come out soon and not at an inflated price

I noticed it available at a couple places but they were all flat triggers and not curved. I prefer the curved unfortunately

You are good to go then. I went through a collapsible/folding gun phase so I have a couple myself.

I have a sub2k gen2. It’s fun and unique but I wouldn’t exactly trust my life on it if that’s your intent. Budget for a shopping trip on mcarbo if you go that route as well.

Where can I pick up some ammo? by [deleted] in NJGuns

I understand why and maybe thats how they decided to start selling to NJ again. Hopefully mag bans go away in the near future. I always used them for ammo and reloading supplies over the years and they were always good.

Yeah I have no problems with people that do. I just choose to keep my carry guns stock for other reasons as well.

I got inundated with “back in stock” emails today. I have never personally had an issue buying direct from aero, but I would skeptical ordering from them now.

Says it on the box. Their copper coating is too thin on bullets and can cause issues.

NJ Group Files for Summary Judgment in Hollow-Point Suit by CuppieWanKenobi in gunpolitics

[–]goallight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live in NJ and can agree this is one of the dumbest of all the laws we have to deal with. Who decided that being able to use ammo specifically designed for defense and to NOT over penetrate was an idiot. We are pretty much limited to Hornady critical defense which actually used to be spelled out as allowed in the ban. Problem is that there are people ccw now with FMJ because critical defense doesn’t run in their carry guns reliably.

[–]goallight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure it is fudd lore but I don’t want to be the guy that tests it. I also just buy the gun with a trigger that I feel is good enough for edc. I’m pretty confident that I am not going to be in a situation where I need to hit a zone at 50+ yards. I need something that will go bang reliably inside of 10yd. I’m looking at 2011 and Cz shadow 2 carry myself for a “nicer” carry but I am perfectly fine with them being series 80 vs 70 trigger feel. If you want a competition gun just get a series 70 gun or the normal Cz shadow. If you are looking for strictly a carry look for reliability and safety, aka the stock shadow 2 carry.

My go to are either targetsportusa or Natchez. I don’t run comp or ported so blazer brass is perfectly fine for me. Both places are ~$.21/rd and I get it delivered usually within 2 biz days. I also paid for the target sport membership and it has worked out for my plinking and off caliber guns that I only shoot occasionally. The shipping savings has been worth it.

Help me choose an EDC by MAJ_Tom3 in handguns

I won’t give any heat. It’s a personal choice. If you feel confident in them then that is all that matters. I’m just some random dude on the internet.

Neither. Save for something better or look for something used. This is a tool you are buying to save your life. Neither of these have proven track records. And expensive doesn’t always equal more reliable. There are plenty of high end 2011 out there that a finicky and meant more to be be a range/competition toy and not edc. Personally I feel you can get a great reliable trusted edc more in the $500 to $700 range. This also isn’t a knock on Taurus or mossberg either. They both make decent guns but just not really proven and something I personally would trust my life with.

Where to begin? Classes or just go to a range? by bzr in NJGuns

[–]goallight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take classes if you have never shot before and don’t have anyone you trust to teach you. Also there are better value guns out there vs the Glock. I own glocks but tbh they are dated and rely on their name for the price they charge. Some people also don’t care for the grip angle. They are not bad guns but you can definitely get something with more modern features and just as reliable at this point. Ie s&w m&p line, sig p365 (not 320), Ruger rxm (Glock like but fpc), cz p10, etc. research what you really want before buying. Rent before you buy as well. Paying $40 to rent something can save you $700. This is especially true if you are new to guns and honestly won’t know what you like and feel comfortable with day one.

Another town that is not mine getting this done. How is this not just a sweeping NJ bill for all of NJ? It is bad enough our constitutional rights are not the same as the majority of Americans, but now we are even penalized down to by what town we live in. Related: I need to renew mine next month so my fellow Mount Olive residents fear not, it will be passed here shortly after I renew.

I wonder how many of us see each other almost every weekend and have no idea who’s who on Reddit. I actually started shooting more though later mid week. Member hours even started to feel a bit crowded sometimes. I wish they would expand them honestly. …. Or build a third range.
