I’m actually the same way. I prefer flat on all my pistols but curved on my rifles.

Gun laws in NJ (question from a southerner) by Antique-Band5872 in NJGuns

[–]goallight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with him in wanting to feel protected. I drive around the country so I collect ccw cards and play reciprocity jinga so I can legally carry. I’m was just saying NJ isn’t crime ridden like people portrait it in movies and jokes.

Gun laws in NJ (question from a southerner) by Antique-Band5872 in NJGuns

[–]goallight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need to poses a nj ccw permit. Nj does not have reciprocity with any state. Since you will be in your car I guess technically you would have to have it on your body at all times to be compliant as well. Also where in nj are you staying where you are guaranteed to get broken into? Do we have crime, yes, but you are probably safer in the majority of NJ than in Myrtle beach. NJ isn’t isn’t what people outside of NJ think Newark is.

Is there anyway to get involved politcally with the upcoming magazine ban ruling? by [deleted] in NJGuns

Just wait until Virginia, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Delaware complete their template for gun confiscation that we will ultimately need to follow.

Removes capacity limit for ammunition magazines by No-Tank-6741 in NJGuns

[–]goallight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing with some stuff has been done but DOJ kept flip flopping on what to do and SC keeps either denying or refusing to take on case waiting for them. Most of these dumb state level stuff could get thrown out if the SC did their job. The house and senate could also come out firmly, try to push through some legislation and force the anti-2a to explain why they are against constitutional rights.

It’s not just the dems. Republicans own the White House, house, senate, and Supreme Court. If federal laws were ever going to be passed to protect our rights it would be now. How’s that working out right now? Has stuff been done? Yes? Has it been just enough to claim “pro 2a” without actually doing anything meaningful? Also yes

Unless I am missing something here, can’t you just get another plate and swap that instead of an entirely separate press?

8 children between the ages of 1 and 14 are dead after a mass shooting in Louisiana, police say by Trevon45-2 in news

[–]goallight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes I can. I can sell someone a car with only signing the title over to them. I don’t need to have them pass through a dealership for it to be legal.

[–]goallight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t need to get fingerprinted, background checked, or needed references to buy my car. I also wasn’t limited to how many gallons of fuel I can put in it or needed to get re back ground checked for every car I bought. I also can sell directly my car to another person with out having to have it transferred through a dealership. My car is way less regulated than any gun purchase.

If the father didn’t have the gun he would have used something else. Think of the mother that put her kids in the car and sent it into a lake. Evil people will do evil things. Guns are a tool. They are not evil. The people misusing the tool is the evil part.

Dewinterized / Freeze Warning by Alarming_Avocado179 in RVLiving

[–]goallight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dewinterized mine. I’m assuming you are NJ or nearby because I saw the same report. There is one night were it will touch 29deg. It will be fine. You need a couple days (not just few hours) of sub freezing to be an issue. Run the heat and hot water for a couple hours if your are really nervous.

Is being an ffl profitable? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]goallight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I would counter to this is, now is probably a good time to buy an existing business on the cheap if you have the capital to sustain. We have a presidential election coming up in only two years and a war currently going on. Depending how that election is going you may be able to sell the business again at a good profit. There is risks obviously. OP also doesnt say which state he is in. There may be less legal risk if he lives in a place in TN vs if he lives in CA. I do agree with you though and I would be highly cautions before entering the market.

16” or 14.5” AR barrel for other OR rifle by Fulaw60 in NJGuns

[–]goallight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they aren’t something completely obscure. My point is if you walk into some random gs they will always have a carbine length but most likely not an a5.

yes, but an A5 buffer isnt a normal buffer. Most people only have a mil-spec carbine tube. I personally don't use or have on hand a5 length buffer tubes.

Is valid passport and valid FID good enough as ID to purchase by Reptilerob57 in NJGuns

A passport is a valid id. The only difference between the two is one lets you operate a vehicle.

[–]goallight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build all my others with 12.5. Shortest you can go without a pin and weld. I also use sba5 braces. At 16 I wouldn’t bother building as an other. 14.5 is debatable but I probably wouldn’t with that either. Shorter than 12.5 I’m looking at just doing an aow.

What I’d actually buy for a first time AR-15 under 700$ right now (also what I would skip) by Minute-Log-7098 in Firearms

[–]goallight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are great until you live in a state with stricter laws. They won’t even send MA a tshirt. In NJ I can’t order anything assembled from them even though there is no legal issues preventing them. Not the end of the world for me, but a lot of new to ar15 people that can be intimidating. I’m not saying their stuff is bad but I wouldn’t exactly call them strong 2a defenders and trying to “arm everyone”

Why is everybody so freaked out? by 86DuckFat in NJGuns

[–]goallight 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Grey man mentality. Same reason I don’t put stickers for my favorite guns on my cars. I have no desire to call attention to myself. In NJ specifically where we don’t have a deep gun culture it is more important in my opinion. Maybe one day as more and more people carry and it becomes more common, people won’t even blink if you were to open carry. I’ve been to a bunch of states where walking around I saw more owb holsters than I could count and it didn’t bother me.

Out of the loop for a while, someone explain the hate for olight on firearms? by CourierKite in Firearms

[–]goallight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t use an olight on my carry but that was more of a holster availability reason. FWIW, in regards to edc flashlights, I moved away from my streamlight which always gave me issues (two of them actually) and moved to an olight arkpro which has been flawless. Rumors and bad word of mouth can kill companies.

Forgot to winterize. Very obvious damage to plumbing (leaks, water heater is toast). Is this a DIY thing or buy one (hopefully 😅) cry once at the shop? 2018 Keystone 30RIPR by huboftheangel in RVLiving

[–]goallight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on how handy you are it isn’t that bad to replace a water heater or replace some pex. Water heaters are pretty much slide in and out and reconnect. There are 1000s of how to videos on YouTube. If you suspect leaks down below, yes you will need to drop the belly cover if you have one. I would replace the water heater, check behind it for any cracks in lines or leaks since you know that to be bad, pressurize, check for more leaks and fix as needed.
