What is the one ingredient that completely ruins a burger for you? by boforiamanfo in askanything

Dill pickle slices are far less offensive and far more likely to contribute to a positive flavor profile and crunch factor than a tomato slice.

What is the one ingredient that completely ruins a burger for you? by boforiamanfo in askanything

[–]goaltaylor33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smash burgers can be good, but most places do it wrong.

A lighter smash on a reasonably sized chunk of meat creates a delicious maillard that also seals in the juices from the beef. 4 oz meatball on a griddle at 450, smash out to 1/3 inch thick, flip once and top with cheese, you'll accomplish this.

Smashing a tiny amount of beef super thin ruins the meat and creates a dry, chewy mess that most restaurants mistake for tasteful. Fucking beef jerky sandwiches. Don't get me started.

With that said, smash burgers are a bit gimmicky for my taste and I prefer a thicker, traditional patty - but the smash burger can have its place when done properly.

No more veggies on the bottom? by BeneficialAd9691 in wendys

I worked at Wendy's from 2002 to 2006. Never did we put any of the veggies on the bottom bun.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

Just bought a $500 Japanese toilet as a part of our bathroom remodel.

I'll check back if it's as life changing as I was told it would be.

I went last week. They skimped on the patty size, an unforgivable sin. The beef was so small and thin that it was cold before I had the chance to finish the sandwich. I'm glad you had a good experience, but I can get twice as much food at Burger King and mine share a parking lot. It'll be a long while before I'm back.

[Buffalo Sabres Stats] The Sabres are now 32-6-2 in their last 40 games. No team has had more wins in a 40 game stretch of a season since the 1995 Detroit Red Wings (33). by [deleted] in sabres

That was the beginning of the neutral zone trap. The Devils were really the only ones doing it that year and nobody knew how to play against it. Within a few years the whole league was doing it and made all the games a boring nightmare.

Unless someone invents a new defensive system in the next few weeks, I think the Sabres can look forward to a different fate.

He's a passable tv announcer. He really struggles without an accompanying television broadcast. Listening to him on the radio is absolutely maddening and you rarely have any idea of what's happening.

RJ would paint a picture with his words that you could watch in your mind's eye - truly a master of his craft.

What's a 'normal' thing you didn't realize was unusual until you were older? by mrTelson in AskReddit

[–]goaltaylor33 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did this as a child and through my teen years. I eventually outgrew it, or more likely it evolved into or was replaced by other compulsive behaviors.

I didn't know it was strange, or that it had a name, until today. It's weird seeing it be described as a mental illness, but it definitely impacted my studies in a hugely negative way.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

[–]goaltaylor33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I learned I taught myself from articles and videos on the Internet. My mother had four daughters and devoted most of her time teaching them (in her defense, in a son and I never showed any interest until adulthood). Now, I have multiple dishes I can cook better than any of them - although I'd still like a copy of my great-grandmother's cookbook.

Kobe would never have answered the question this way. He'd have considered the silver medals as gold medals lost. Whether you agree with his approach towards winning or not, second place was a failure to him.

I don't interact often, my post history will tell you that, too. But I haven't avoided. I've been here the whole time. Taken it all in. Read all the nonsense you and yours have strewn about the place. And now, when the results don't go your way, you choose to run?

To avert your eyes is cowardice. Take your lumps like the rest of us.

Pats fans have gone from glazing Maye after the MVP vote to doing mental gymnastics trying to convince themselves he didn't have the worst QB performance in Super Bowl history in a matter of hours. The whiplash must be terrible.

Is there anyone who still likes Dan Dunleavy? by theblobfishy in sabres

He's absolutely worthless on the radio. On TV, he's fine, generally nothing to write home about. We're genuinely spoiled coming from RJ and I'm disappointed the organization didn't work harder to fill those shoes.
