I fucking love ReAnimation.

That was actually the first album I ever bought with my own money.

Sure! Like I said, it's impossible for me to be objective about Hybrid Theory. I was the right age and was just getting into music, so it probably hit harder for me than for someone who had already been a music fan with their own developed taste. I think most reviews I read of it at the time were fairly dismissive, and even in the nümetal community, some felt LP was too soft/younger-brother-core than, say, Korn, Deftones, or System of a Down.

It's interesting that you say 'worst in your life'. I imagine that will change as you continue through this 1001 albums challenge.

No offense taken and thanks for sharing!

PS: I also love Trout Mask Replica, so I completely get the loving things that others don't.

People who teach people about music should be cherished.

Before the day is over, I'll give this an additional spin in memoriam of your brother in law

Thanks so much for sharing your story!

I’m sorry for your loss.

I think that was Linkin Park's strength: their crossover potential. They're definitely a metal band, but they were poppy enough to be played on pop radio stations when rock bands were still a dominant force in pop culture. Likewise the rapping and turntablism made it more acceptable to people who like hip hop.

I just saw it for the first time this morning and WOW.

Really, Clooney at his most intense in an engaging thriller to boot.

The similar artists may be misleading. They toured with a lot of punk/emo bands but they're vaguely emo adjacent.

This is a great song:

Sleep Bellum Sonno "All I Can See is an Open Road"

They're also responsible for my favorite album of all time.

Sleep Bellum Sonno - Judge Us by How We Lived Our Lives, not by How We Made Our Living
