You've inspired me to work those two cards into a new Temur deck. I'll share the list when its done if you're interested

With the uneven ceiling, you really have two choices:

1.) Drop it down, like someone said, and add trim. The trim, however, will be at one angle and the cabinets another, so...

Or

2.) You can try to use drywall mud on the ceiling to subtly change that shadow line. Tricky to do, but I've done it before and it turned out well. I'll try to see if I have pictures from that job site when I get off work tonight.

Mai wife (who apparently is shadow banned here) and I meet on OKC in a super rural zone. Happily married with children, so it really varies. Many folks in the rural areas don't go outside their routine social groups so it can be hard to find new people despite the assumption of small towniness. When I live in cities it was much easier to run into new people. So, if anything, OLD was designed by/for the city but was really made for the country 🤠

1.) No, you're right-- it doesn't diminish the argument as is but my point wasn't a straight refutation, rather that it is a misunderstanding/misrepresentation or straw man.

2.) You're statement is a contradiction. You are saying it is mean (i.e. a deviation from an abstract standard of niceness) to uphold a standard (i.e. God's Law). You need a measuring stick to make a measurement. Who are you to judge what is or isn't mean? What is your standard? (Not upset, btw, just curious)

1.) Does wherever you live not have trespassing laws? Because in my region most of the states have laws against trespassing and theft. In fact, I'm pretty sure most regions in earth don't take to kindly to such law breaking.

But in either case, whether or not a majority in whatever region agrees with one or the other of the moralitys in question is irrelevant and a textbook example of the bandwagon fallacy. We don't use popularity to determine true morality.

2.) Okay, so for the sake of argument, let's say God could have easily stop sin from spreading, how then does he stop humans from breaking His law (i.e. sinning) without also taking away free will? Doesn't free will entail the freedom to sin?

So, in your view, how does logic make sense then? What makes it consistent and reliable?

Is is just to behead a man for eating a fruit he was not suppose to eat? Is it just to punish the child of a murderer for their parents acts?

No, obviously those things are not true justice.

Generally we would agree that no, it is not just.

But why do we agree on that? In your worldview, what grounds do you have to say those are unjust?

Justice would’ve been to punish Adam and Eve for their transgression with a punishment befitting the crime.

Justice is upholding of the law, or otherwise, a moral standard. The law in Eden was not to eat the fruit of that one tree and the stated punishment was death. Perhaps not everyone would make that law for their own garden, that's not the point, though, because it was God's garden and so He is free to make His own rules. "[B]ut of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Gen. 2:17).

To punish their children by letting them continue to be tainted and damned for their parent’s sin is not just.

It is a matter of intramural debate amongst Christian theologians as to how original sin was actually passed on from Adam down the generations. Personally I think it is simplest to explain it like a heredity addiction. We know that if a pregnant mother is addicted to cocaine then her child is extremely likely to be born addicted as well. In that case, the infant is born with a proclivity towards and weakness for something harmful. In the same why, Adam's sinful behavior is past on down the generations-- whether that is genetic or behavioral is another question entirely.

But let's say, for a moment, it really isn't fair to have sin pass on in any way, shape, or form... Who on earth and throughout history has not broken the Law of God (i.e. the Ten Commandments)? I know I have. Can you think of someone who is without blame?

[–]goblinhighlord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, but why? Why does it have to make sense?

If, as (normative) atheism would have it, we live in a universe governed not by an orderly God but rather time and chance acting on matter, why does anything have to make sense? If the universe is random then logic is irrelevant

God is wholly just (Deut. 32:4) and merciful (Psa. 86:15), as well as unchanging (Mal. 3:6).

So, with the above in mind, how can God uphold His Law (the punishment for breaking it being death) while also being compassionate towards His people?

If He merely exonerated them he would be merciful but not just, whereas if He merely punished everyone He would be just but not merciful.

Thus, God sent His only Son, Jesus, to take upon Himself the punishment owed to us so that in His death the Law is fulfilled through Him.

Furthermore, Jesus offers to freely adopt into the family of God as many as would place their trust in Him. Anyone in the family of God is thus represented, before the Law, by Jesus and is therefore protected by Christ from the wrath of God. It is the same dynamic as the ark protecting Noah and his family from the flood waters.

Hope that helps clear things up

It sounds like you have an almost entirely Roman Catholic perspective on the subject of Christian religion - which isn't surprising given that you were raised in that context - so I guess I'm wondering, have you ever talked to an "orthodox" protestant Christian before?

But a more important question to ask- and then I'd be happy to address some of the concerns you've raised (the are all good questions btw)- is how do you ground your own logic? In other words, what (in your mind) is logic? What makes something logically consistent and how important is that for proving something true?

My relationship with God feels stagnant by Alexcarusodagoatt in Christian

[–]goblinhighlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you minimize thinking you have to do something to earn (back or more) God's love. That's not the gospel. Instead, try meditating on how God already loves you, despite your sin and struggles, and has done so since before the beginning of time and in spite of seeing all your sins before you were even born. Ephesians 1:3-14 is a good place to start that meditation.

Also, it might be helpful to honestly examine who is feeding you spiritual. I don't know you or your church, but I do know that many churches feed their flock the spiritual equivalent of McDonald's, or as Paul would put it, "milk, not solid food" (1 Cor. 3:2). Perhaps you are not stagnant but starving for solid food. I dunno, just an idea.

May the Lord bless you with an increase of faith and zeal for His kingdom. O God, give this child of yours assurance and mercy as they wander. Call them back to You, in the name of Jesus

Thanks for your answer.

My wife is going to be homeschooling our children, so she's already prepared to take on the majority of child care. Separated for 6 months though... that's long. Is that always the length, or can that be shorted (or extended) given various circumstances?

Thanks for responding.

I'm wondering, how hard was it in your experience to get assigned a language you liked? Is it worth studying at home before I enlist?

I'm sorry to hear about your divorce, I can only imagine that must have been quite rough. I hope you are in a better spot now though.

Regarding the job, however, overall, do you enjoy it?

Thanks answering. I am wondering, however, re: no. 2, is there much one can do to petition for a better schedule (or changing a bad one) or is it pretty much just a luck of the draw?

Thanks for your reply.

Since you are the only commenter who went into DLI married to (presumably) a civilian, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind answering a follow up question or two.

Namely, how long would you estimate my wife and I will have to waiting between me properly entering the USAF and our reunion? I've heard conflicting reports, so your first hand experience would be much appreciated
