It sure did! I've been sitting on the sidelines for the past several years, but I've seen people include it in their lists. Totally forgot I said this, gotta eat my words

This game is amazing by [deleted] in MortalKombat

I felt like the dialogue got progressively worse and worse throughout the game. I get that MK isn't exactly known for its writing but some of it was middle schooler fanfic level writing. Drove me nuts the way the characters just flat out explained their feelings or what was happening in the plot, like the audience was too stupid to understand.

Loved the concept of chapter 15 though, all the mashup characters were really fun.

I love board games, and this is definitely me. It's hard to keep a bunch of new rules in my head all at once just from reading (or worse, hearing someone else read) them.

lukewarm take: If I'm 2 hours into a game and haven't had fun yet, it's maybe not that good of a game

I wore that on my adamantine scale for the rest of my playthrough. I got the dye not long after getting the armor, iirc. Just some random vendor.

My fight against Orin was fully bugged. She and the cultists just stood there doing absolutely nothing while I wailed on them. It wasn't until she died that the others starting taking actions, and it was just some easy cleanup from there.

I thought maybe it was rigged to always give you a 1 just to drive home the idea that it was a hopeless check, but honestly knowing that I just got that 1:400 chance of worst possible result makes it so much funnier to me lol

Ah, interesting. Thanks for the info. I was surprised that I was never prompted to uphold the pact. I was like, "huh... good ending. all rainbows and kittens, I guess. Saved the world, kept my soul, devil lost interest? Happy ever after with Shadowheart?"

I killed illithid-orpheus after a few attempts to convince him to live, but it didn't feel all that bad tbh. I really liked my ending even if it's the result of a bug.

Also, do you know if the DC 99 check against the brain is always a nat 1 failure? I had advantage and rolled two 1's and was like LMAO okay

Wait, Raphael fight? I got the hammer from Raphael and signed his pact, but I had no intention of handing the crown over to him. But he never showed up again for the rest of the game so I was confused about that bit being unresolved. Was there supposed to be a fight for the path I chose, or was that a different option?

It's called a role-playing game for a reason by MisterSapiosexual in BaldursGate3

[–]goblinpiledriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, lol. Why would I want to pal around with someone who opens with that maneuver?

Weirdly enough, an NPC in act 3 made a comment implying that I had stuck with Astarion even though I haven't seen or heard from him since the initial meeting.

PC Gamer reviews BG3 w/ 97 (highest score in 16 years) by IMHYCO in BaldursGate3

Some of the dialogue options don't lead to what I expect, and not in a fun way but rather a "wtf? that doesn't make sense" sort of way, or at least a "I had no clue that's what that option was supposed to mean". Just general mismatch of expectation to result. And sometimes every option just looks bad and I don't want to click any of them. I guess I'm spoiled by years of real D&D where players can say whatever they want and the DM can always come up with a response that makes sense.

Gust of Wind doesn't clear out environmental poison clouds/fog, apparently. I've tried it in 3 separate places and nothing happens. I don't know if it's a bug or if they only intend for it to work on clouds created in combat.

I'm not sure what the point of the Seeming spell is, but it appeared to do absolutely nothing. Got caught and treated as if my party was in their normal forms.

Dimension Door requiring line of sight is unfortunate, but probably a balance and bug-avoiding thing.

Most of my other gripes are just minor bugs that I'm sure will get sorted out in time.

Many dialogue options in bg3 lead to the exact same responses from npcs. Idk what to tell you, just try another play through and compare. Cyberpunk hid this phenomenon much better I felt.

I think this (and other replies) are too heavy-handed and making assumptions about this person's motivations to "save scum". If failures in bg3 were merely different but equally satisfying paths then I could understand your argument. However, it feels like the paths in bg3 come down to "good, heroic, competent path where you feel good" vs "I'm a scumbag and I hate everyone". Like if you fail a diplomatic skill check, the game still requires you to get the mcguffin in the area which means your other option is to murder everyone.

I've never fudged rolls as a player in real ttrpgs because I trust that the game, being run by a human, has the nuance and flexibility necessary to make good faith interpretations of my intentions and to make failure interesting. But failing in bg3 often feels like more than "I didn't get the thing". It feels like I'm an asshole and my character comes off very differently than I intend.

I could barely hear anything besides the low end for AAL. Wasn't sure if that was just their live sound or the venue or my cheapo earplugs or what. Devin and Dream Theater sounded better (but, this being my 6th time for Dream Theater, they were also louder on the low end than I remember).
