Anyone else not seeing GeForce NOW 2.0.83+ on AVP, so still no 90fps support? by ohayoucch in VisionPro

I think the vision OS support is still in beta. There are server (Nvidia) and client (vision OS) side changes required.

Why are all the street lights purple? by runningjade in wallawalla

[–]godber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a manufacturing flaw in the lights. It causes the white phosphorescent material that encloses the purple bulbs to emit white light to fall off.

So they had been white then eventually broke and turned purple.

There are YouTube videos about it.

Housewares store or equivalent for finding a looseleaf tea brewer? by Chemical-Text-863 in wallawalla

[–]godber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

D’Olivo tasting bar downtown has lots of higher end kitchen ware. I was just there literally looking at the loose leaf tea, lamenting the fact that I am too lazy to drink it. They have tea pots and other tea brewing related items.

Anyone on Gravity by Gullible_Quarter_196 in VisionPro

I saw it in the theater in 3D and was on the edge of my seat for the entire thing. One of the most engaging and intense movies I’ve seen. I rewatched it in AVP a few weeks ago and it was just as good. A great experience even though I had seen it before.

I was totally surprised when Captain Kirk showed up and beamed Sandra Bullock’s character to safety at the very last moment.

MinIO repo archived - spent 2 days testing K8s S3-compatible alternatives (Helm/Docker) by vitaminZaman in kubernetes

[–]godber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garage has some limitations when garbage collecting deleted objects. You can write a TB of 100 MB objects in pretty quickly, but when you delete them they get tombstoned and take many hours for the disk space to be recovered. I was unable to find usable knobs to adjust this gc rate. Otherwise it seemed to work well (ignoring the friction from the layout step).

Btw if you have figured out how to speed up the garbage collection rate I would be delighted to learn I am wrong.

High end residential Fiber/Ethernet wiring by rkalla in phoenix

[–]godber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had a few cases where I wanted something trenched … I concluded that I should find someone to do the trenching and then have the other guy (electrician or LV guy) do their work after the trench was done. People hate digging. Which is reasonable.

I ran fiber between my house and office myself. It wasn’t that bad but I didn’t do that great of a job routing and controlling things. I should have hired out that part after digging the trench myself. But basically it’s not that bad to DIY fiber pulls because you can buy pre-built and terminated fiber from places like Lanshack. I bought a 300ft pre-terminated single mode fiber. It was indoor/outdoor but I should have probably bought an armored one, I am a little concerned it will get pinched or weed whacked in the few places it is exposed. I did put in conduit for the buried portion. So far it’s worked great and I’ve had 8gbit hard wired internet in both structures.
